I took my wife here because she wanted to have an exciting and memorable birthday and we certainly had that! Even three days later I'm still feeling the effects of the adrenaline rush. Nothing can prepare you for this experience. While jumping out of the plane was scary as all getout, the confidence and professionalism of my instructor, Chris, took away any real worries I had. HOLY SHIT!! So i decided to surprise my husband for his birthday and take me and 3 friends to skydive. Best decision i ever made. When we arrived it wasnt crowded and we went straight in to get suited up. We opted for the videos for both of us. Total we were 4 people. They Explained the process really well and were helpful the entire time. I was so impressed to see a gentleman well into his 50+ jumping before us. It gave me a little security while scaring the shit outta me. Being a tandem jumper you have to be strapped to one of the employees, but it sounds worse then it is. The plane ride up is amazing and smooth. Then.. You get to the point where its time to jump. Of course being my husbands birthday i MADE him jump first. As he sailed outta the air plane and into the sky i wondered about the companies saying. Why WOULD you jump put of a perfectly good airplane..? For the experience and rush it brought i would do it again in a heartbeat!!!! First off you fall for about 15 feet and that it sooo intense. Its the feeling that i left my heart in the plane and my stomach would meet me on the ground. They tell you you have to pay attention to your watch to know when to pull the cord for your shoot. If you forget to look at your watch ( a gadget that marks the height) The guy will pull it in front of your face. Watching my husbands video he couldn't find the cord and you see the guy pull it for it. It was hilarious to watch afterwards! Here is one thing i will warn you about. If you opt for a video, they will tell you to laugh and wave and say hi to everyone in the video. The thing is, you feel like if you open your mouth your teeth will fall out and your tongue is sliding in your throat. Its impossible to try to say anything. All i did was smile huge and give a thumbs up. My husband opted to do spins and twirls and he landed a lot faster then i anticipated. So While He was on the ground watching, i got to fly!! The dude let me take almost full rein of the controls and what an amazing feeling!! Now... Landing is a bit different!! As you rush to the ground , your supposed to put your feet. up, i assume this is why they insure the guy behind you is taller. It doesn't work just as you expect. AS we came rushing to the ground and i had to put my feet out and i almost landed on my butt!! WHAT AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE!! If we had the money, we would of done a helicopter jump as well. FYI they make you sign a wavier that states once you enter the plane, you can decide not to jump but you will loose your money. Getting everyone's signature, one of our friends took a very expensive plane ride once we got in the air. He turned as white as a ghost and we have it all on video!! The moment I see the Groupon for skydiving, I decided I should challenge my fear to do this. And my best girl friend is even more excited than me! So we signed up for the jump and the day come.Too bad that was a bad day which is sunny but too windy. We didn't make it and we have to go back to Chicago in the afternoon after waiting the weather to change for 3 hours. My friend actually want to quit and get her refund. But I insisted that we should do it next day. Then she agreed. Next day was so good. The weather was even better than the first day.There's no cloud in the sky and the wind is ok. So I have to remind you to check the weather before you go, maybe give them a call so you won't waste your time going there! So I was supposed to go do this with some friends but I couldn't wait and ran out to Hinckley (like where IS that anyway?) and jumped out of a perfectly good airplane all on my own (well, except for Paul, the very nice guy who pushed me out of the plane and was strapped oh - so - tightly to my back the whole time) . . . loved it so much I came back the next day and did it again. I can't say enough good things about Chicagoland Skydiving Center. I found them through proskydiving.com and my experience was incredible. I was scared to death but from the moment I got there they calmed my fears and genuinely made me feel like part of the family that is obvious that they have. They were extremely professional and courteous and took the time to answer all of my questions even though I had a million. I have gone skydiving one time after that and belive me, it was nothing like going to Chicagoland Skydiving Center. That is what has prompted me to come back and write this review. Just from looking at the other place I went to I could tell that Chicagoland Skydiving Center has top of the line equipment, top of the line instructors, and brand new and top of the line airplanes. Thank you Groupon for finally getting my cheap-ass into the air. The experience was amazing. Getting yourself out of an airplane at 14Kft is easier than I thought. Both the falling and flying (with the chute) are incredible sensations. anyway... i highly recommend it. yeah, you may have to do some waiting. I went on a weekday and was scheduled at 12pm and had to wait. other people who were previously rained-out showed up early and were ahead of us to jump. no big deal, watched a few planes go up and land, pro-skydivers land in the drop zone, etc. then it was our turn. the guys were great. they keep it moving along and they definitely know their stuff. its all pretty straightforward and they walk you right through everything. great staff, amazing experience. couldn't have asked for more. read more

Great staff and facilities. Clean, comfortable, and fun staging area--check out their giant Jenga game, play some bags, or pay $1 for a game of pool. Our wait for the jump was standard (about 30 minutes) and they took good care of us during the check-in. We jumped on a Saturday, and it was a bit cold, so there weren't many others crowding around us. This was my second jump. My first was at Skydive Midwest. Though it was a longer drive to CSC, it was totally worth it. The difference in facilities and staff put me more at ease before the jump, and the CSC safety record is unbeatable. When it came time to jump, the process was smooth and the camera man (Buzz) was good. Jackson, my instructor, had me feeling secure long before we reached the door, and hopping out was easy. On the way down, we had some fun spins for the camera and good views. The landing was excellent. I recommend these folks and already put money down on my next jump. read more

This was the best experience EVER. Really, seriously. I had always wanted to go skydiving, decided to do it. The place is really great. There are couches to relax on while you wait. The entire experience makes me want to quit my job and be a skydiving hippie. The jump was from 14,000 feet so there's 60 seconds of free-fall with a 5 min parachute to the ground. My friend was all about it while I was so nervous I had tourette's. I kept throwing out inappropriate comments about crapping my pants (kinda wish I'd kept them to myself) but hey. My photo guy was Dave. He was nice and told me what he was going to do did a little interview with me on the ground and then in the air climbed out of the side of the plane and jumped right out after me. My tandem guy was Eric. super sweet. I really didn't feel like he was going to let me die. Everyone was really nice and super cool even though I was spouting out inappropriate things etc. BEST experience of my life. I immediately signed up for another tandem jump two weeks later. I hear weekends are really crowded, makes sense. I didn't wait long but really I was not trying to rush the experience... loved it. read more

All the employees were really helpful and made sure that you were going to have a good time. They communicated to you if there was going to be a delay of any kind. The instructors were all fun and friendly and kept it a relaxed environment for those who were nervous. The remote location was nice, and you knew you were getting close when you started seeing the parachutes in the sky. The calm rural town around the dropzone really allows you to enjoy the rush and experience you just had when driving home. There is plenty to do when you aren't dropping too like Bags, watching the videos of the recent jumps, or just making new acquaintances. Having attended many events at this venue . There is absolutely nothing that was not impressive . These events have been both hosted by Chicago Skydiving Center as well as by local organizations. The areas are well kept clean and the center hanger that is rented out is phenomenal . Chicago skydiving center also produces their own events , out door concerts etc. I have never been let down in the cleanliness of their facilities . When attending any of the types of events posted above . I highly recommend attending one of their productions or renting the site for your own needs . A major plus is watching the skydivers , I have yet to skydive personally . But it is in my near future . read more

This organization is top-notch. Just did my first jump a couple of weeks ago with Nacho. He is awesome. He did a great job of explaining everything to expect from getting into the plane, scooting to the side door of the plane, jumping out (and what to expect while dropping 200 feet a second) to what will happen when the parachute opens (no, it is not a backbreaking stop that you assume from watching videos) you hardly feel the shoot opening. Right down to the easy landing. I can not recommend this place more if you have ever been curious to dive. And ask for Nacho - he will take care you. Cannot recommend this place enough! I just did my first jump with Eric and could not be any happier! The entire experience was phenomenal from check in to the actual jump. The front desk staff was professional and so knowledgeable, we upgraded to a 14,000 jump instead of the 9,000 jump because of the recommendation from the girl at the front desk. She made the decision so easy by saying that we get to enjoy the jump more with the longer freefall. We added a photo package as well and Cody did an amazing job! Eric was knowledgeable and easy going, made me comfortable the entire time. The vibe between Cody and Eric is so great and this made the pictures and video truly capture the entire experience. I took my 20 year old son to CSC a few weeks ago for his second ever tandem jump. The facilities and people were really great. I didn't jump because I am a timid old man but my son sure loved every part of his experience. Even though it was Saturday, July 3rd, they had him up in the plane to jump within 30 minutes of his arrival.His instructor, Jenny, is spectacular (Pro tip: Jenny likes Fat Tire Beer and she seemed to really appreciate a 12 pack on top of her jump tip...which they would only touch when the day is complete, I was told). I did have an issue with them double billing my credit card which I didn't find out about until more than a week later. However, Ryann and Paige (the two people with whom I dealt) were extremely helpful and professional. While it is important to know that a company is well run and there are few, if any, glitches, it is equally important to know that a company will promptly and with a good attitude accept and correct their mistakes. CSC is definitely one of these businesses. A great overall experience. Every part of our experience was top notch. I am very thankful we chose them. read more

I visited CSC on Father's Day Weekend. They had a great online discount; and I jumped at the opportunity; pun intended. It started with signing a lot of papers explaining that they were not responsible if anything happened to me. YES I KNoW!!! I came to skydive and hence know the risks. After that, it was a very good experience. They gave us instructions on procedures to be followed and harnessed us. We had to wait for around an hour and a half to get going because of some cloudy weather. The entire skydive went great; and the tandem/guy jumping with me was cool. I got some great pictures and video as I had signed up for them. Overall, it was an amazing experience with nice staff, instructors and a skydive that was the best thing I have done. read more

Less-than-intense girl turned total Adrenaline-Junkie! My first trip to CSC was a total fluke of serendipity, but in the split second between standing on the floor of a perfectly good air pane and free-falling at 14,000 feet my entire outlook on life changed. It was amped up a thousand times over. The entire staff at CSC is passionate and enthusiastic. Not once did I feel like they were bored or complacent. When taking such a risk as skydiving, you definitely don't want anyone who looks less than thrilled with their job. The facility is fun; almost has you hooked on the pastime before you even get done with the paperwork. Marius, my instructor, was absolutely amazing! He made sure I understood exactly what I could expect from take-off to touch-down, and also what was expected of me. He was considerate enough to keep making sure I was still breathing in the minutes leading up to the jump. And he was literally the angel at my back the whole wild ride down. When you go, go prepared to spend quite a bit of time. It takes a while but is totally worth the wait. If you're lucky enough to get the Sky Bus, like I did, it's worth double the time. Don't forget to buy the pictures and video. Your first jump is definitely something you want to record. Just remember to try to look a little less stupid than I did on my first jump. read more

A little over a year ago, I skydived at Chicagoland Skydiving Center. I survived the experience, but not without an incredible story to go along with it. I went with two friends, as we had made a pact to go skydiving if we made it through the bullshit to college graduation. We made our appointment, got to CSC, took the not-so-informative class, and geared up and hung out. The place looked largely under construction, but nonetheless we posted up around the pic-nic tables until it was our turn to jump. My instructor, Peter, screwed with me from the very beginning. I asked him how many times he had jumped before (strictly out of curiosity) and he told me "This is my first time ever!!" I laughed it off, but he literally kept repeating this stale joke perhaps 3 or 4 times more... even in the plane. When we were in the plane, things got a little more serious and he talked about how much more beautiful it is to jump near a beach than the MidWest. It made me uncomfortable, further, that he didn't seem very present, let's say. My two friends jumped before me. It was our turn and we hung outside of the plane and fell towards the earth. This part was so god damn incredible... my nerves didn't matter at this point, I was freefalling! Holy shit it was so indescribable!! Then before I know it, he taps my hand and it's time to pull the release. We're freefalling and I'm still in shock as we're pulled back by the parachute. Peter taps my hand and points something out in the distance. That thing flying away? YEah, that's our shoot. I look up, see we are on the reserve (it's a much smaller, blue chute), and he utters the word "SHIT", and I shut the hell up and let him steer. We flew past the top of facility (coming dangerously close), and land about 10 yards away from the edge of the landing zone. It was abrupt but lo and behold we didn't land on a building nor a car. I detach from Peter, we hug, he takes off in the other direction. I look back and see that I've landed before both of my friends who each jumped before me. I called later that week to see what went wrong exactly. Peter called back and left a message, but I decided not to call back. It seemed unprofessional to begin with, the amount he joked before hand. I can't say for sure if this contributed to the mishap. I'm glad I landed safe, and to Peter's credit he did a good job steering us, but for the love of god don't wrack my nerves even more than they were already heightened. My hope if I ever skydive again is to be attached ot someone who is sympathetic to a first or second time skydiver... joke once, then let it go. Then concentrate on the fact that you're jumping out of a damn plane. I definitely won't be skydiving here again, but at least it was an epic adventure. read more

At age 63 with a friend's coaxing I did my first tandem jump with CSC. The next week I was back to take the ground school class and to start the Accelerated Freefall (AFF) training. I am now a licensed skydiver. In my opinion CSC is the place to go if you want to jump out of a plane. The owner is a perfectionist, always concerned with improving the customer's experience and the aircraft and equipment are meticulously maintained. The facilities are new and there is an attached restaurant with an outdoor patio where you can relax after your skydive. read more

Skydiving was something I thought I'd never do and if I did, would probably chicken out at the last second. Well, I went with a group of other sky diving newbies and loved it! Surprisingly, the only time I was just a bit nervous was the initial jumping out of the door. You get over that instantly! We opted for the 14K foot jump, which I recommend over the 9K foot option. Starting off, you go through a briefing on what to do and sign your life away before you jump. Just a note: they've never had a fatality, which is quite important. You are assigned to an experienced sky diver, which they explain safety, what to do and when. I was paired with Len and he did a great job explaining. After the initial "Oh sh!t, I'm jumping..." you are out the door and free falling, which was awesome and loved the fall through the clouds. The only thing I can suggest is be aware of any issues in regards to ear issues. Going down, the ear pressure in my right ear was rather intense and hurt quite a bit. For a week, I had a hard time hearing out of my right ear and there was a constant clicking in my ear, with the additional feeling of having a bubble in my ear and unbalanced feeling. I can't wait to do it again and hopefully jump solo some day. Go do it! read more

CSC was my first skydiving experience, and the experience was great once we got there. The communication leading up to our reservation wasn't great, and we almost did not get to go. We're glad we were persistent though because this was a bucket list thing for me and a girlfriend. We went last year in October before they close for the year. There's 3 altitudes to chose from (9,000 ft +) and prices start at 150$+. You sign a waiver and watch a video about the risks before meeting your trainer/sky dive partner who's attached to your back and the videographers who come for the ride. After getting suited up, you all fly up together in the plane, and then jump, free fall, scream and laugh. What was nice was they allow for observation rides for 40$ so a friend or loved one gets to experience it all from behind the scenes without actually jumping. That's exactly what my fiancé did! I am thankful for my trainer (I think his name was Cody), who was very reassuring throughout the whole experience. I had to purchase the photos afterwards; I laughed so much that I almost cried when viewing them. read more

My Sky dive at CSC was the most amazing experience! I would suggest everyone to try it out atleast once. Some adivce: 1. Put ear plugs or cotton in your ears. My ears hust during the fall due to the heavy wind. 2. They ask you to sign an agreement which literally states that even if something happens (i.e. you die) for any reason (even negligence or equipment malfunction) you cannot sue them. Even if you sue them, you cannot win. Even if you win you have to return all the money you get along with the attorney expences to CSC. But believe me, the staff is extremely helpful, friendly, and pretty experienced and profesional. So do not worry and go for the dive. 3. Just enjoy the moment when you jump off from the plane. It is the best moment of the dive. My tandem "monkey" (i.e. instructor) was Marius, who was the best one. My photographer was Wes Lightning. Wes, I feel my friends got better photos and video. Chicagoland Skydiving is a supremely beautiful facility with an amazing staff. My first visit was in June when my company went for a team outing. Immediately upon arrival we were greeted and made to feel very welcome. Once we checked in we wanted to grab a bite and decided we would have lunch at the Flight Deck Bar and Grill. The food was amazing and the service was outstanding too! After lunch we completed our training video to prepare for our jumps. We were matched up with instructors and walked through the next steps of the process and what to expect. Next each instructor came over to introduce themselves and talk with each of us individually. This was a really nice touch and made my entire team feel comfortable. My instructor was Dan Kludge. Dan kicked super butt and made me feel completely at ease. The weather was a little tricky the day we were there but we waited it out and were fortunate enough to have the opportunity for a sunset jump. One word: AMAZING. My company's extreme outing was something I will remember forever. The Chicagoland Skydiving team has my highest recommendation. The instructors are so knowledge and made everyone feel 100% comfortable. Overall this was just an insanely awesome experience. I strongly suggest anyone considering a corporate event or company outing to go to Chicagoland Skydiving Center. I promise it will be an amazing once in a lifetime experience that will leave your team feeling closer and give them a memory they will never forget. I personally fell in love with skydiving. I have since been back twice and each time have experienced the same amazing customer service, great food, kick ass instructors, and wildly awesome jumps. This past weekend I jumped with Mikey. He made the jump insanely fun and again walked me through every step of the process and made me feel so confidant. And he is a total riot! This was truly an amazing experience! I decided that I needed to jump out of an airplane for my 30th birthday. Our first attempt in Sept was cancelled due to weather but this past Sunday we were able to jump. The people are great and make you feel comfortable. Thanks Kelsey and Arnell (sp?). You will wait, but really people do you want them to rush packing your 'chute? Nope, didn't think so and there is lots to do on site. It's fun to watch the other jumpers come back to the ground. If it is your first jump you are insane not to get the video and pics package, it is worth every penny! If you have thought about jumping, go do it! My boyfriend got us the Living Social deal to jump here. It was my first time and I cannot say how essential the staff was to my experience. They were extremely laid back without sacrificing any level of professionalism. We went thoroughly over safety procedures so we all felt confident going up. They kept everyone calm but still stoked to jump as we got ready and ascended in the plane. Turns out we jumped, landed and I'm going back for more! After you first jump, you can put $25 down and then jump again for just $100. I think I'm addicted. Thank you CSC!! read more

My sister and I finally took the plunge this weekend. What an experience!! Going into it, I was a bit of a nervous Nancy primarily because of my friend's bad experience with another skydiving company in Wisconsin (instructor didn't explain anything, instructor caught his foot on the plane door, friend scraped skin off both legs on the landing, etc). I would absolutely not be worried about any of that here! Facilities look very new and modern (apparently one of the best places in the country), and staff is extremely professional and tells you exactly what you need to know. 100% felt safe the whole time (did the 14k tandem jump). What was very cool was that you are the one pulling the parachute (did not realize this going in). Rest assured that even if you do mess this up, your instructor has your back. Few comments: earlier in the morning is definitely better. I didn't understand why we needed to plan for 4.5 hours minimum during our time here, but it quickly became clear as the weather turned for the worse and we waited 1.5 hours for it to clear. A client got me a gift certificate for a free tandem jump last April, sadly the friends I jumped with last year, due to trips for the doctoral degrees and the summer just plain escaped us, did not do our jumps again this year. The season was expiring and I decided I needed to jump soon or lose the gift certificate which was only good for a year. I set a date and was looking forward to it... then the flood and tropical storm Ike... so the deluge of water knocked out my hopes for a jump... erg... so I rescheduled a jump for two weeks later. I got up at 5:30am on a Sunday, drove out, which is a little over an hour drive and arrived just in time for my 7:45am jump... sadly they were in a weather hold. The skies were gray and slightly hazy and not optimal jumping weather. I had some time so I waited... and waited... and waited.. apparently Mother Nature talked to my mother and decided they didn't want me to jump. Thanks moms.... I had a client coming in at 12pm and I couldn't wait much past 10am to jump... I sadly wandered over to the pro counter to see what kind of deal that could be worked out. I didn't want to lose the gift certificate.. but couldn't stay and I was out of the city for the next two weekends. The chipper and cute girl behind the counter said it would be no problem, giving me a gift card for the total of the jump. "Its just like cash, use it for a jump, solo school, what ever you want from here and it is good for another year from now. Definitely a five star experience all around. The new facility is clean and comfortable. The grill was a fun place to relax after the jump to recreate the feeling. The staff from first introduction, through the jump instruction and jump, to final good by was nothing but pleasant. We traveled farther to use CSC. Glad we did. Let me start off saying that the skydiving itself was awesome, which is why I gave the 2 stars. But their customer service sucks!!! They treated me and my group like common criminals when we asked for a refund on the dvd that they were unable to produce. Tell me, is that wrong? From there, they threw items at us, cursed us out and called us names. Is this really how you treat people who have just spent a $1,000? So, we will not be going back, not to be treated like trash if things don't go smoothly. Great place to skydive. They have a nice facility with a twin otter and a pac750. 14,000 feet is the altitude. There is a gear store and a restaurant attached to the facility. They jump all days of the week, until sunset. The first jump was free. Friendly people. read more

Not recommended by me or my friends. A couple years ago, we went to CSC when they were located in Hinckley. We paid to be dropped at 14,000 ft., yet we were dropped at 9,000' without being told. No refund; only a lousy cheap t-shirt and a lot of attitude. And when we got to the bottom, my buddy had a broken ankle from the CSC tandem instructor landing them incorrectly and spent months in rehab and off of work. The instructor went running and we never saw him again. Not a recommended place to skydive! Sorry for the late review, but that was before we knew about Yelp. Obviously it was one of the worst experiences in my life and stuck with me, which is why I am posting this years later. read more

For my latest birthday my brother and sister in law gave me a gift certificate for a tandem 14,000 foot jump out of an airplane. Looking back on the other gifts they've given me (flying lessons, helicopter flying lessons, driving a stock car at 150 mph) it seems they might be trying to kill me. The staff doing the jumping and videography were all great. I must be a special kind of stupid because I wasn't nervous at all about jumping out of a plane. My instructor did a good job telling me what to expect, making sure I was comfortable, and then throwing us out of the plane. It was possibly the most amazing experience I've had yet. Seriously, absolutely amazing. I would give that part of CSC 10 stars if I could. So why only 4 stars? Because the customer service staff are absolutely horrible. The first reservation I made (or thought I made) I had to reschedule. Good thing, because they didn't actually make a reservation for me when I called. The second time I didn't get the confirmation email they said they'd sent, so I emailed asking for it. Took days and multiple emails to finally get a confirmation of my reservation. They ask you to show up 30 minutes early, then why not just make that my reservation time? My "class" was supposed to start at 1, I was told I was to be in load 20. At 1:20 the "class" started. It was the woman from the front desk starting a video for us to watch. A video that went over the waiver we had already signed and telling us to read it carefully, maybe that should happen before we sign the waiver? Then there was no further instruction. So a couple of us went to the desk to ask "what's next?". Lucky we did because they told us when to show up in the hangar. When I agreed to and paid for their video option they didn't tell me to pick it up after my jump. In fact, they didn't say anything about picking it up until 3 hours after I left and they called me to see if I was still there to pick up my video. The other reviews I read talked about the wait between your reservation time and your jump...they were spot on. About 4 hours between your "class" and actually going up in the plane. But, they do have some things to keep you occupied, it's a very nice place, there's a restaurant attached with outdoor seating. Also, you can check the load times on a website so you can leave CSC if you want and come back in time for your jump. Of course, the only sign I saw for this website was in the bathroom. Seriously, get your act together at the front desk and on the phone. I'd love to go skydiving again, but they'd have to pay me to go back to CSC. i've wanted to do this for a decade and i'm glad i finally had the chance, especially at such an awesome location. CSC was laid back, friendly, welcoming and fun. they made JUMPING OUT OF A PERFECTLY GOOD AIRPLANE just not a big deal. i adored my experience and cannot wait to go back! read more

If you have been wanting to jump from a perfectly fine airplane for all or most of your life, this is the operation to do it with. From the second I arrived all throughout the life changing experience, I was literally blown away by the team at CSC! Professional, courteous, experienced and far exceeding my customer expectation parameters....this organization is top rate and 5 star all the way. I've jumped twice here now and it's excellent. The staff is fun, the facilities are excellent (complete with bar & restaurant), and the jump is a blast! Be sure to get the pictures & video if it's your first time. It goes by so fast and you WILL want to have those mementos to show everyone a million times and to relive the experience over and over. read more
