I had one night in the Indianapolis area and grabbed some pizza for dinner. The normal around this part of the you try is a thin style crust so I was happy to see a thicker choice. The building is in a strip mall and the bring interior feels like it belongs in the middle of Chicago so the theme worked. I was quickly greeted and offered a menu. Would like to rate it 3.5 but rounded up! We arrived at 1 pm for the lunch buffet which is offered Monday - Friday 11-1:30. They brought out fresh pizza until 1:20 which I was happy with! I do wish they had little signs saying what the pizza is/has on it. I ended up getting 2-3 slices that were basically the same because I couldn't tell them apart! The price includes a drink (soft drink, tea, water). Salad bar was well stocked and seemed fresh but was quite messy. The pizza section was very clean! I thought all the pizzas I had were tasty but...I'm not picky when it comes to pizza flavor. The breadsticks were super yummy, too! That cinnamon dessert pizza is to die for! Pro-tip: grab banana peppers from the salad bar to top your pizza and a cup of ranch for dipping the pizza and/or breadsticks! While exploring the Stafford Crossing Shoppes, I decided to grab a quick lunch at Chicago's Pizza. It's located on the west end of the businesses and because of the large lot, I was able to grab a spot close to the entrance. I noticed an patio for fair weather dining to the right. As I entered, I waited briefly to be seated. My waitress brought my ice water while I looked over the menu. I decided to order from the menu instead of selecting one of the "lunch" menus which on most days, includes the salad bar and/or pizza bar. I didn't see anything about the sizes of the pizza available, so I went with a small, thin/crispy crust of the "Windy City". This pizza has mild Italian sausage, and chopped white onion and green peppers. I also ordered a side salad with a creamy balsamic dressing. The salad arrived promptly (with utensils) and I was pleased to see it had been cut to bite sized pieces (except for the tomato slices). Yeah! I appreciate that. If I have to cut the salad just to eat it, I might as well stay home and make it myself! The salad was fresh and though it didn't have a lot of ingredients, it did taste good. Before long, my pizza also arrived. The small was about 12" (6 pieces) so I knew I was going to want a to go box since I didn't need to eat that much at one sitting. As far as the pizza goes, the crust held up pretty well, though I wouldn't say it was crisp. The ingredients were distributed pretty well across the pizza as well. I also liked that the small chop on the veggies made it easy to eat. The only problem was that the pizza had very little flavor. The mild Italian had barely any noticeable taste. I have had Italian sausage where you can taste several spices/herbs, but this sausage was just disappointing. It did contribute a bit of grease to the pizza, which I had to dab off with a spare paper napkin. The other issue was that the onion and peppers still tasted pretty raw. They had a lot of moisture in them and because they were topped with cheese, the quick bake time didn't allow the sweetness to roast into the flavor. (At home, I usually grill my veggies before baking if I am going to top them with cheese.) So, although the list of ingredients was promising, the rush to get the food out with an efficient process resulted in pizza that was lacking in flavor. I even tried using some of the spicy shaker flakes, which helped, but didn't allow for much layering of taste. So, if you want pizza and feel like getting out to do so, this place is okay. I tell ya what, it just so happens that I accidentally had a slice of Chicago's Pizza at work on Friday. It was so darn good that I convinced my hubs to get a couple of pies for dinner on Sunday. Have you ever been in a relationship with someone who you aren't pizza compatible with? It's not great, but the good thing is that you never have to share your pizza. Mr. Jen F is solidly a ham and pineapple guy, while I like to mix it up and have anything except for ham and pineapple. Two deep dishes for carry out were ready as promised. Mine was sausage and mushroom this time and both were DELICIOUS. I mean it, really delicious. The crispy burnt cheese around the edges is delightful. There is nothing extra special about this chain that's moniker makes one think it would be Chicago pizza. Having been to Chicago so many times and having that authentic Chicago pizza pie that expectation truly is not met here. The pizza is good, but more so your typical deep dish pizza of any Indiana chain pizza eatery and not "Chicago Style" that you crave. However, what you do get is really decent pizza, and they have a pretty good lunch deal. One does pay additional to have a "to go" cup, whereas most places don't charge you to take your drink with you. read more

I stopped here for lunch on a Tuesday afternoon after wanting pizza in Plainfield area. Since there is a lack of good pizza joints around here I decided to stop in Chicago's for the buffet. The only other Chicago's pizza I have been to is in Cloverdale, and was not that good. However, with the lack of choices I thought what the heck I'll try it again. We ordered a large deep dish and some breadsticks. The salad bar was average (and had a large print saying it was only one trip to the bar - seemed a bit odd). Our pizza finally arrived & it was immediately declared by our group that it wasn't "Deep Dish". It was basically your Pan pizza from a standard pizza restaurant. It wasn't bad tasting but it was not "deep dish" like you would get in Chicago. Atmosphere was good and very laid back. It was self-seat and despite having a soda refill fountain - you could not refill it yourself. The staff would do it for you only. Rainy shopping day, the family was in search of a decent early dinner spot with options that a 4 year old and 1 year old would eat. After our first choice had a 40 minute wait we decided to shoot for pizza. We decided to give Chicago's Pizza another shot, after a very disappointing visit to this same location about 5 years ago. Glad we did! The place was super clean, and the staff was very friendly and attentive. Our food was delivered hot and quickly, and it was delicious (and I'm kind of a pizza snob). AND the whole dinner, large pizza, full order of breadsticks and drinks was barely over $20.00. Not the greatest pizza, but not bad. I just moved to the area and stopped in for the buffet. My 5 year old son was with me and we were enjoying the day over his winter break. The pizza buffet was well-stocked with a good variety. I am not sure what it is about it that earns the style 'Chicago's pizza'. Definitely not Chicago-style, but maybe that just happened to be the variety on the buffet at the time?? The breadstick are awesome and a huge bonus that they have nacho cheese in addition to marinara for dipping. That alone will probably garner a return visit. I'm a sucker for nacho with my stix. If anyone happens to be from SE Illinois, the stix and cheese are reminiscent to Bobe's. The salad bar was ok. I like a simple salad so I don't need a bunch of optiins. We went to Chicago's Pizza on Friday evening with our friends, their 4 boys and our daughter. We were seated immediately and our waitress was outstanding! Drink refills were always perfect timing and our food was brought out in a timely manner, nice and warm. The waitress was very attentive to the kids as well! This is a really awesome local pizza joint. They participate in lots of community events - the first time I tried Chicago's was when they provided free pizza for a "back-to-school" party at the Plainfield library. The pizza is great! The crust and sauce are store-made so of course it takes Chicago's pizza quite a few notches above Pizza Hut. The sauce is delicious - the perfect cross between sweet and savory, not spicy but full of flavor. The cheese is the real MVP here though! I'm a big cheese fan so a perfect blend like Chicago's has really takes the pizza to another level for me. They are NOT stingy when it comes to topping the pizza - there is literally cheese up the wazoo on every pizza I've ordered from here! I love it! We get Hawaiian a lot - the ham and pineapple are always plentiful and fresh. I'd highly recommend Chicago's to anyone looking for a pizza that is truly tasty! read more
