My experience working at the Collierville Chick-fil-A was one of the worst employment experiences I've had. In my opinion, the company needs to take a serious look at who they hire and promote into management positions. I experienced what I felt were microaggressions, disrespectful communication, and an overall lack of professionalism. Employees were often spoken to in a rude, dismissive, and "nice nasty" manner that created a toxic work environment. One of my biggest concerns was employee safety. I was regularly scheduled to work outside in the extreme heat, and when I asked for a heat break, it often felt like I had to argue for one. On one occasion, I experienced a panic attack after being outside for an extended period without adequate relief. No employee should have to fight for a break when working in dangerous temperatures. The management style felt extremely controlling. Every small mistake was criticized, and employees were expected to perform like robots instead of being treated like human beings. I also felt there was favoritism. In my experience, The shift leads & assistantdirector of operations, Olivia, Madison , & Cadyn was often allowed to speak to coworkers disrespectfully without consequences, while others were held to a different standard. That inconsistency made the workplace feel unfair. Over time, I came to feel that employees of color were treated differently than some of their coworkers, which contributed to my decision to leave. Also the thing that stood out to me was hearing management make comments such as, "The guests come before the employees." While I understand that customer service is important, statements like that made me feel as though employees' well-being and concerns were considered less important than the customer experience. Over time, it created the impression that we were expected to tolerate disrespect, unsafe conditions, and unrealistic expectations without support from leadership. Another major concern was scheduling and pay. Employees could be scheduled until 10:30 p.m. and then expected to return for a 6:00 a.m. shift the next morning. If you tried to change your availability to create a healthier work-life balance, it seemed that your hourly pay could be reduced. Instead of having a consistent base pay, compensation appeared to depend heavily on how much availability you could offer. If you couldn't work 40+ hours a week or six days a week, you could end up making less than $17 an hour. Additionally, I felt discouraged from taking the full 30-minute meal break and believed that even being seconds late returning from lunch or a minute late to a shift could result in disciplinary action. Overall, I found management to be unsupportive, unprofessional, and lacking empathy for their employees. My experience left me feeling undervalued and unheard. Based on my personal experience, I would strongly encourage anyone considering working at this location to do their research before accepting a position. PLEASE, RUN FROM THIS LOCATION!!! read more
