It's understandable that the lines get hectic and therefor may cause havoc inside the restaurant but by no means does this mean a manager should rush a customer. After going to the Chick-fil-a out on Military Highway anytime the cravings hit, it was such a crazy surprise that they opened one up around the corner in Ghent without any fanfare! They're in the classic fast-food corner on Monticello, but the run down alternatives make this place look like a 5 star restaurant. They have a great outdoor eating area that you notice when you first pull up. They also have a new play-place for kids (they seemed to be enjoying it?). Overall, the feel of this location is more modern than others that I've seen, with faux wood walls and a tv screen over the condiments. I came around 1pm on a weekday and they were pretty packed so the line was about 5+ minutes to order, but the food came out in less time than the line! The food was as you would expect and the employees were fine (mostly neither extremely friendly or too dull). The floor manager came around and offered refills at the table, which I thought was a nice touch. Overall, 5/5 stars is all relative to a fast-food restaurant, but I thought this place surpassed my chick-fil-a expectations! Of course they have a drive through and an individual parking lot. I am a Yankee, and I do not have chick fil a where I hail from (Buffalo NY). So my first two experiences have been on the Monticello road location in Norfolk VA. For fast food, I absolutely love it. The food is tasty. The staff gives a nice dose of southern hospitality. Other fast food restaurants could take a lesson from how they treat their customers. Ok so I visited this Chick-fil-a this morning the service was not what it should have been. I did a mobile order and my food still took almost 10 minutes. I ordered a 4 piece chicken mini and can you believe at 10am I had to wait for they to cook nuggets. Waiting on the nuggets caused me to be late to an appointment. Thankfully the minis were good because otherwise I would have been really upset. I was shocked by this because I have never had a bad experience at chick-fil-a. Completed an online breakfast mobile order at 10:15 for pick up in the drive thru in which this Chick-Fil-A would not complete because I got to the order window at 10:32. After talking with the employee at the window about my order she informed me that they had no breakfast items left. I asked to speak to a manager who then just canceled my order and didn't ask if I wanted to make another order with them. Maybe they should include that if you're not at the order window by 10:30 that you should come inside to get your order. Not a happy morning at this Chick-Fil-A. I am also still in the line at 10:45 and still haven't even reached the pick up window. Maybe they should also hire more staff members to help speed up the process of this drive thru line. read more

I had to write this review yelpers, I had to. I grew up on Chic Fil A and I always find humor in the many memes boasting of the greatness that is this southern gem. One in particular was about how the chain never messes up an order. Well, that meme is false. While dining here yesterday, I ordered my typical 8-count nugget. It was the lunch rush so of course they were busy, but usually that's no match for these chicken champions. I don't know what happened, but between the busyness and me being in a conference call plus probably the person taking my order not paying attention, my order was screwed up. When I got to the window, I was handed my fries in one bag, and a chicken wrap (that I didn't order) in another bag. When I handed it back and said that I didn't order it, I was impatiently demanded to show proof of my receipt but was given a refund for the screwup. The manager was super nice about it but the girl working the window definitely seemed to have an attitude. This puts a damper in my spirit because usually, most Chic Fil As have wonderful customer service. I guess at the end of the day, they aren't perfect and it is the fast food industry. I have been to this location on several occasions, and feel it's high time I actually write a glowing review on this particular fast food eatery! Well, as many of you know who frequent your local Chick-fil-a, they seem to try to hold a higher standard of protocol in treatment of their customers with honey to the ear phrases like, "my pleasure" and "I would be HAPPY to" and "is there anything else I can do for you". This Chick-fil-a also seems to follow suit, and does a beautiful job of it! Lunch hour seems a bit hairy with customers coming in and out at the speed of light...but no worries, the staff can handle the volume! They are efficient, they are pleasant, they do an excellent job of making sure each customer leaves happy, and we have never had an issue their nor a wrong order! The food is enjoyably good, as always, and we left with smiles on our faces and wanting to return next we had a Chick-fil-a craving! The location is great, being right downtown off Monticello, and they always seem to keep their eatery impeccably clean (including their bathrooms, which we are entirely grateful for!). I haven't been to many fast food places that can surpass Chick-fil-a! However, if ever I do, I will definitely be yelping about it for the world to read about :) read more

I hit up this location about once a week. I don't have to check my bag to make sure everything is in there because they are very accurate (unlike, say, McDonald's or Wendy's). The quality seems to be very good, and more importantly the consistency is the same. The staff is always helpful and pleasant, for example Friday night I made my order and at the window requested to change an 8 piece nugget to 12. We use this chick-fil-a a lot because it is up the street from work. We place a lot of $50 plus orders and sometimes we don't get all the food and I just let it go because it is not worth the time to call or go back and wait for it to get straight. Today I placed an on line order for the food, waited a long time for the food. Got to work started checking off the food and found missing two sandwiches and two hash browns. So I was very excited for a chick-fil-A to be opening up in Ghent. It has to be one of the greatest chains to date. With that said this does not come close to their standard. I had to wait in line behind three employees that just got off shift while the cashier gossiped with every single one. Meanwhile, another employee was using the service counter as her table for eating, opening her sandwich and spreading condiments while gossiping with the manager. So I ordered my meal and a shake and sat down. Food comes out five minutes later. I wait till the 15 min mark and still no shake. I go up to ask what was the hold up and they forgot about the shake and they assure me it will be out quick. So I sit down and wait 5 more min, god forbid I have to remind them again. 10 min pass and I go up to complain, and they forgot again...... Embarrassed, they quickly make the shake and instead I ask for my money back. Overall these employees treat this establishment like it is their own lounge, placing themselves before the customer. I really like this Chick-fil-A, but man-ole-man the lines can be ridiculously long during lunch hours (both inside and at the drive-thru). They try to get you in and out quickly, but I found the best time to go for lunch is around 11:00 and 11:30 AM just before the noon rush. People always say what great service chick fil a has and I'm here to tell you that ain't always the case. Today I went through the drive thru for lunch. I got up to the window and got my fries and drink but was told to drive around to the front and put on my hazards and wait for someone to bring out my wrap to me. I waited for about seven minutes and had to move a couple of times due to the lunchtime rush and being in peoples way. I finally pull into a space and go inside. I ask about my wrap and the person who helped me was fairly nice but she seemed new and like she didn't really know what was going on. She told me I was next in line. After I waited another ten minutes inside I went back and asked someone else and they said they didn't have any more wraps. I was of course irritated at this point because I've been waiting almost twenty minutes at this point. I told the new person to just give me a regular chicken sandwich but before she could bring me that yet another employee finally brings me the wrap! She didn't apologize for my wait or the inconvenience, she just handed me the wrap and walked away. Unbelievable. And after all that my fries were cold and the wrap was thrown together and fell apart when I tried to eat it. Never again!!! read more

This particular location has to be the absolute worst Chic Fil A I have ever encountered... and I spent 14 years in California. They are rude AF and lazy. Every single location I have ever been to over the years has zero issue putting a tomato on my biscuit when requested. This place absolutely refuses to slice a tomato for their customer! There was literally one car behind be in the drive thru...maybe 7 in the parking lot, 10 people behind the counter, not at all busy. I was told they didn't have any tomato. So I asked, will there be no tomato for the sandwiches today. "Oh no, we have tomatoes for that, we just can't prepare one for your biscuit!" WTF? It takes 10 seconds to cut a slice of tomato! Today an older gentleman named Bill spoke with my friend and I and offered me a free drink and gifted me a voucher for a free sandwich as well as thanked us for our naval service all because I had to wait about 5 minutes for my breakfast. Came from out of state and I have to say this is one of the best CFA's I have been to. Came on a Saturday at 1:30pm and the food was hot and fresh. Purchased the cfa deluxe and the lettuce was crisp and tomato was a good size and delicious. I inquired what does that have to do with me requesting for my sandwich to be prepared how I want it and he told me this was company policy. Normally there are three or four people "working" behind the counter, but not actually doing anything but avoiding eye contact so they don't have to refill your drink. It always appears there are more staff dining than actually working, but not today. I think the problem is they hire the same shitty people from McDonalds and get the same shitty work ethic when management isn't holding their hand.
