We were at the Yorkdale mall around dinner time on Thursday evening and wanted to have something light. My friend suggested a chicken salad at Chick-fil-A (and I didn't even know that they have salad!) It turned out to be a pleasant surprise. Portion was generous, and quality was quite decent too. There was line up of course, but serving was pretty quick (and the staff taking order was very friendly). It's inside the food court and it was pretty easy to grab a seat nearby. I gave in and tried this place for lunch today (didn't need anything from Yorkdale so thought I would splurge on food). As others have mentioned, the line is long but moves quickly. There are friendly servers moving thru the line taking orders so by the time you get to the front, you're ready to pay and the order is ready. It's a smooth operation and the staff are knowledgeable about how to do things. The menu is pretty similar to the U.S. locations. Chicken nuggets are small but flavourful. The selection of dipping sauces are also nice. I don't like when a fast food place only has 2 or 3 choices. Waffle fries were tasty. Nothing was overly spiced. The piece de resistance was the peppermint chip frosted coffee. It was incredible! Coffee, ice cream, peppermint, chocolate shavings. Best thing I've had in a very long time. I know it's seasonal but the frosted coffee is always available and I'm sure they're all good. Price point is pretty typical for fast food. I was about to give Chick-Fil-A 3 stars because, meh, overhyped chicken sandwich that's nowhere near the awesome chicken sandwiches in this city. But then as I continued to bite into the surprisingly juicy and surprisingly a-bit-bland deluxe chicken sandwich, and pop the overhyped waffle fries dipped in the properly hyped amazing Chick-Fil-A sauce, I had to check myself. This was a fast food chicken sandwich that cost me $7 not $14. I shouldn't be comparing this to the great sandwiches of Love Chix and PG Clucks, but to something I can get from KFC or Taco Bell or McDonalds. For fast food this place is pretty good. I have tried both the grilled and fried chicken burgers and my favourite is the Spicy Deluxe which has cheddar, lettuce and tomato. I would say the spice level is a 4/10 so not really spicy for most people. The fried chicken is good, but the highlight of the meal for me is actually the side of waffle fries and Chick-Fil-A sauce! We happened to be at Yorkdale for another event and decided to try this place based on all the hype from a year or so ago. Service: When we went, the line looked long but the attendant told us that we order elsewhere and then line up to pick up. Despite what looks like a long line, it probably was only 15 min from order to pick up. Things are fairly efficient. Staff were nice and patient. Food: Original fried chicken sandwich - simple but enjoyable. It's just a fried piece Of chicken and 1 pickle in a bun. However, the chicken is fried perfectly, crispy exterior, moist inside, seasoned well. The bun has a nice butter-y flavor inside and is soft but holds up against the chicken. Single pickle gives some acidity against the greasy chicken and bun. 4.5/5 Spicy fried chicken sandwich - this has a good spicyness but I find it just overpowers the chicken and the bun. It's not bad but not my go-to. 3.5/5. Waffle fries - light cripsiness and soft potato inside. Goes well with their sauces. Does the job and is different from fast food restaurants as it comes as waffle style. 3/5 Iced tea - suggest getting it sweetened. The iced tea tastes like chrysanthemum tea that you can get at vitasoy and it's delicious. 4/5. Sauces: My favorite is the original chick-Fil-a sauce - it's got some sweetness, smokiness - reminds me if honey Dijon were mixed with bbq Mayo and smoked. The sweet and spicy one has a bit of acidity and sweetness and spicy. Barbecue surprisingly was a very light bbq sauce - not too sweet. Price: It's comparable fast food price but I find it to be one of the better chicken sandwich places I've had. Would definitely return and recommend trying at least once. read more

This weekend, my younger brother and I decided to sit in 20 mins of Toronto traffic (during the air show) just to get this drool-worthy burger (and the lemonade +waffle fries obv) I would highly recommend getting nuggets as well-- they're not like the average nugget, and frankly the BEST ones I've ever had Before going up to the foodcourt, you now have to scan an app and quickly just sign up to hold your place in a virtual line. You'll receive a text once it's your turn, and up you go! When you're in the food court, there's a separate area right next to Chick-Fil-A to place your order. A special recognition for Mazin who was VERY helpful and polite! Once you place your order, you're called over by another Chick-Fil-A employee to line up to then pay for & pick up your order. Very streamlined, and although there was a bit of a wait, the whole process from ordering to picking up the food, probably only took about 15 minutes at most. Also, we made the mistake of leaving the food court area, thinking the dining rooms were still open around the mall. This has changed-- they've turned them into areas to purchase "Yorkdale Gift Cards" instead. I gave one star for a great chicken filet. It was moist and delicious. Very impressed. I gave one star for service. The line buster and the cashier were both friendly, polite and efficient. Nice to see. Other than that I was quite disappointed. I had heard so much about Chick-fil-A that I was quite looking forward to eating at one of their sites. Unfortunately the waffle fries were mushy/soggy. The bun was mediocre, and the lettuce and tomatoes were not fresh. I was going to give Chick-fil-A a 2 star rating. But I read another reviewer who made a good point. I needed to compare it to other restaurants selling at basically the same lower price point. The line moved very fast! Well organized. To be honest, I usually don't like fried chicken. I rather get fat with other food. I figure I will see what the hype is about especially this location is not like the downtown one where people have to wait outside (located in the foodcourt of Yorkdale Mall). The spicy chicken deluxe was so good. Juicy, and just the right level of spice and the batter was not too thick. The grilled nuggets were unique and nicely marinated too! I've asked for all the sauces to try my waffle potato fries. I find the polynesian sauce a little too sweet for me, I prefer the chick fil a sauce, the rest of my collection, I have yet to try. A lot of people might find chick-fil- A overhyped but we gotta remember that this is just a fast food joint and when you compare their chicken sandwich to other restaurants like KFC and Popeyes this is as good as it gets! Food is always better when it's eaten right away. Their chicken is crispy and juicy! I've tried their nuggets before but didn't eat them right away and it was dried and stale so it's hard to say but I would just stick to their chicken sandwich and waffle fries! There always seems to be a long lineup all the time at this place but it moves pretty quickly to be honest. The service is very fast and when taking your order the employees are typically very nice and hospitable which the brand is known for. Unfortunately their food just always tastes mediocre and not worth the hype compared to other fast food chain's chicken sandwiches. Everything was just super dry and bland including their nuggets, I expect it to still be juicy and not having it solely rely on dousing everything in their sauces. This place becomes more and more underwhelming each time we visit. This is the 3rd time here in the 1.5 years and always manages to turn something worse than the last time. Today was the worst experience at the location so far. 1. Waffle fries are soft and undercooked. Luke warm, almost zero crispness 2. Deluxe chicken sandwich was sooooooo salty, almost unbearable. 3. Most places have this prob but pop is made with tap water + syrup and u can smell the chlorine like tap water smell. Giving my generous 2 stars here. I'll Lilley never come back here, ever. The server took our order wrong at the beginning, when I was about to pay and realize they charge each items individually instead of a combo. I asked them to correct it, the manager said it's only couple dollar difference and to leave it. There was zero customer service from the management to cashier. We ordered the chicken sandwich combo and nuggets combo. Both chicken in the burgers and the nuggets were dry and over seasoned. The fries and milkshakes were ok. We just happened to be in Yorkdale today and stumbled across the new Chick-fil-A. I didn't realize they had placed on here, but a happy surprise. We waited in the requisite line for about 10 minutes. Not a big deal really. Very friendly service, but seemed somewhat disorganized. Mostly just the amount of customers jostling for their food. The employees did their best. We ordered the regular nuggets, grilled nuggets, waffle fries and diet lemonade. Both nuggets were unexciting to me. I can see why people like them, but meh? but don't sleep on those waffle fries dipped in their special sauce. That is the real specialty. Plus, diet lemonade is delicious! read more

The wait always appears daunting, but it never seems to be more than 10 minutes, which is quite impressive, given the size of lines, at launch. The quality of the chicken and it's preparation, is noticeable. I was never really sold on pickles and cheese on a chicken sandwich, but I am now. The Deluxe version of the sandwich has these ingredients and it works well, with or without sauce. The grilled nuggets were excellent, with the sriracha sauce. The spicy version of the sandwich had more kick than your typical fast food sandwich, but still tolerable for those that are heat-sensitive. The only reason they aren't 5 stars is because the common thread running through all of these items is the excessive salt level. My wife tried it once and won't go back, because she's turned off by the saltiness. I like the flavour, but I agree that it's very clear this is not for people on a low-sodium diet. read more

I've tried the original and spicy chicken sandwich (would recommend the spicy version, it's not too spicy and it's significantly better in my opinion), the waffle fries, and the iced tea (which is also good). I was a teeny bit disappointed when I saw that there wasn't actual pieces of chicken like we're used to for chicken places but like I said just a teeny bit. Considering this was the first Saturday since their grand opening on Tuesday, the wait time was virtually unnoticeable. Expedient service- we were greeted with such warm, attentive staff. The food was delicious! Grilled chicken nuggets: WOWWWWWW. the seasoning and flavour were out of this world. Sandwiches: both the spicy and the original were so tasty! Solid 5 stars for me here serviced on Monday. The line up was LOOOOONG but don't let that scare you away. The line moves very fast! They are very well coordinated with that. I like how you can just give your name place the order and go up to whichever cashier and get your food. The food tasted good. ORdered spicy chicken sandwich meal with waffle fries. The waffle fries was okay to me. THe spicy chicken was on point not too spicy but perfectly flavored. The chick a fil sauce is delish! Side tip. Ask for extra sauce on the side you can actually ask for more sauce and that works out in case they were STINGY on the sauce.
