Egg White Grill Meal with Hashish Browns... I mean Hash Browns

Chick-fil-A is a-ok. I don't get the craziness of the drive-thru as it's not THAT good, but to each their own I guess. Lately, the food has been just ok. I've had to ask for fresh waffle fries on a few occasions as they haven't been fresh. That's such a bummer to have to ask for fresh fries. They're getting like McDonalds with that... The sandwiches are still great as is the staff at this place. They're always friendly (even though the "my pleasure" seems fake and creepy at times) and accommodating with refills of soda pops. This location is a pain to deal with though. The main road backs up and you can't even get in as the drive thru wraps around the restaurant like a boa constrictor not letting anyone else in. Even if there are parking spots, you just can't get into the lot easily. Typically, the inside isn't overly busy, but you have to get in first. Hopefully with Raising Cane's next door and another Chick-Fil-A opening near-by, it will alleviate some of the pressure this location is feeling.

Chick-fil-A- Chicken Biscuit - unfortunately these entrees keep getting smaller and smaller

I stopped coming to this location years ago but thought I'd give it another shot out of convenience. Chicken filets are tiny these days (you'll get more chicken by ordering the nuggets), drive thru was surprisingly slow for a Saturday morning before the rush, and service had the "I don't want to be here" vibe. However they did get my order right which was my primary complaint in the past.

I've tried both frosted and regular they are both have strong flavors of key lime.

I've tried both frosted and regular they are both have strong flavors of key lime. They both are refreshing flavors great for summer time.

    Chicken minis. Awesome with honey.

Great service. Ordered in the app and received a message my order was ready inside to pick up. I wanted to do curbside but it was not an option. Ordered the chicken minis, fruit and tea. Chicken minis were a little dry and pretty small. I did take out but didn't know it until I reached my destination otherwise I would have went back into the restaurant. I also didn't receive a straw in my bag but didn't notice it until I reached my destination. $9.79 is a little pricey for a small breakfast at a fast food establishment. It would be extremely pricey for a whole family to eat here.

This time around I went to the Waterford Lakes location. I love that there is ample seating here and the wall art is beautiful. The menu has expanded quite a bit! Me and my friend ordered two different bowls. Mine was the sweet heat bowl with chicken and it was actually the perfect amount sweet and heat! Everyone working was very friendly, especially when my friend went to grab the trays after we paid and the bowls slipped right off and fell on the ground completely. We felt soooooo bad but they cleaned it up and redid the bowls which I wasn't expecting but was forever grateful that they did. My only comment is if there is a way to get bowls that don't easily slip and slide on the tray, that would be great. We sat and ate and hung out there for a while. Even though we were the only ones that had a bowl slip and mess, we noticed we weren't the only people commenting on how slippery the trays/bowls (not sure which) are. Aside from that, great experience and excellent food!

Who can remember after 30+ years of that nonsense. But I do know one thing, my grandfather would totally not pay that much for a salad, even though it's good. This fast casual place follows the model of many other bowl/salad places with a few pre-made options as well as the Johnny Cash method... Walk the Line. They have other options beyond salad (like rice and lentils) and I think they do wraps, so it's not Just Salad. They do get pretty creative with some of their pre-made options and I've enjoyed them. The Dirt Candy Salad sounds bad, but it was pretty good. And their chopped salad was tasty, but not really chopped. Bottom Line, if you want something different than what you can pull off at home, and don't live near a Cava or Bolay or Chipotle or Sweet Tomatoes or Moe's or Fresh Kitchen or QDoba or Designer Greens or CHOP5 or Sweetgreens or Drowning Bowl or Taziki's or Flower Child or Bricks & Bowls or Chopt or Greenbeat or Copper Pony or Grain & Berry or Earthy Picks or Cravy's, then Just Salad may fill a void that doesn't really exist. (I did make up one of the names in that list)

The decor of the restaurant very much embodies the name. It gives all the zen vibes. I love that you can see through the glass the chefs making the soup dumplings. The service was spectacular. We were walked through the menu and everything was thoroughly explained. I started with a glass of the house pinot grigio which was crisp. We ordered several things so we could try an assortment of menu options. The beef pancake roll was yummy. The sampler of the soup dumplings is the way to go. It gives you option to try 6 flavors. My favorites were pork and chicken. They were so fresh and beyond flavorful. Also, we ordered the Mongolian Beef plate that comes over rice. So much meat and very good. The bao bites were yummy. This was more than enough food for 2 people plus plenty of leftovers. I thought the whole experience of dinner was fantastic.

The estimated time was around 20-25 min and we got seated fairly quickly. A few minutes later the wait time increased to 45 min, luck was on our side. The sandwich was fresh and flavorful, and the fries came out hot, which made it even better it definitely felt like everything was made to order. The inside has a really cute, old-school diner vibe that adds to the experience. It's a fun atmosphere and makes the visit feel a little different from your typical fast-casual spot. The service was also a highlight the young lady who took our order was friendly, welcoming, and took the time to explain menu options, which I appreciated. My only downside is the pricing. The items felt a bit on the higher side for what you get, so that's something to keep in mind if you plan to visit. Would I come back? Maybe but overall, it was still a great experience.

**INITIAL REVIEW**…read more First and foremost, this review is a collective of both my visit during the Yelp Week at four different Portillo's locations, mine being at Waterford Lakes, and my initial visit as a regular customer afterwards. Ergo, I will utilize the details for the Yelp Week that easily transfer to a regular visit, plus anything new I got through my second visit. For starters, this Portillo's is in a fantastic spot. If you haven't been to Waterford Lakes, it is a beautiful outdoor stripmall with many stores that are actually worth your time going into, not just store after store of clothing... though they do have some good options like Ross and Kohl's (latter is a "I believe it is there," but I know Ross is there). Upon coming up to Portillo's, you can tell it is that brand new genre of restaurant that is in-between fast food and fast casual. I don't even think it has a name yet. But if you've eaten at the new design for Chick-fil-a or at a Raising Cane's, you know it. Inside, Portillo's really leans on its Chicago roots with 1960s to 1970s silver trailer restaurant vibes, modernly updated. Imagine how those dive diners in the 60s and 70s were but with more technology, neon, and self-service commodities. For me, I have plenty of food here. Portillo's is known for their hot dogs so I had their jumbo chili cheese dog and Char-Grilled Maxwell Street Polish Sausage. I also got their breaded whitefish sandwich, beef and cheddar croissant, and cup of chili on its own. I will say the food, across the board, were all good. I thoroughly enjoyed the breaded whitefish sandwich as they actually make it thoroughly well. There are many places that do fried fish sandwiches in which the fish has been sitting in the freezer for too long and haven't been cooked thoroughly through. Ever bitten into a fish fillet and it is still wet, and sometimes slimy, on the inside? As mentioned earlier, this review is based on two visits. The Yelp Week was dine-in in which the service was great, Katherine was trained well and kept her cool whenever an issue arrisen, and the ambiance just fit the experience. My second time was through the drive-thru. What a below average experience that was. I must stress the staff was kind, but the fact that I had to look at the menu on one side of the building, drive around to the other side and make my order could be debilitating for those who don't have good memories. I wouldn't mind it so much, but isn't that the basic setup of drive-thru? What really got to me was how long it took Portillo's to make my order of two hot dogs and two sandwiches. The total was exactly 18 minutes from order start to finish. Wouldn't have been an issue but I was the only one in the drive-thru line at the time, and this was around 2 p.m. so there weren't that many patrons inside either. At least my food was wrapped securely to make sure nothing falls apart or spills. Ultimately, I am going to give this Portillo's location three-out-of-five stars for its review. I can't just shake the tantamount time it took for my drive-thru order to be made during stretch of downtime while being the only vehicle in said drive-thru. All I know is that I could possibly remedy that time if I take the time to order online or actually come down and order indoors There seems to be emphasize treating the indoor customers over the drive-thru.

The service is honestly the only reason I would give this location a positive rating. Our waiter was nice and would refill our drinks without even asking. I also noticed that the executive chef would bring out the food somtimes to other tables and was very nice. The food unfortunately was a miss for me and expensive. A 6oz steak was 25$$ on their menu. I ordered the wings as an appetizer. They came out super fast but they were dry and lacking in sauce. I ordered the Classic burger. It was lacking in flavor as if it had no salt or seasoning on it and the fries were soggy and rubbery at the same time with no flavor. My parter had the chicken (fried) wrap and it was also soggy and lacking flavor. If you are looking for tavern food, just go to ale house around the corner or chickfila for a chicken wrap.
