While I was out shopping this morning with the Black Friday crowd at Somerset Collection, I decided to go to Chick-fil-A to see what the hype is all about. I have only been one other time a couple of years ago in Las Vegas. And the chicken sandwich and waffle fries were cool, but I didn't think it so good that I would frequent over and over. So today I decided to try the chicken nuggets. Ordered a 12 pc meal, fries, and lemonade. The line was all the way down to the elevator, however service was really fast, and I was able to order while standing in line. The nuggets were good! I can't complain. Reminds me of the chicken nuggets that KFC used to sale back in the day. So this experience was cool! Whenever I'm back shopping at Somerset, I wouldn't mind going back for some nuggets. read more

But it was also more expensive than your typical comparable fast food places. And for this location specifically, I'd say be prepared to wait at least 20 minutes in line unless you go at a random time during a work day or something. Ok the wait is sooooo crazy here and the line seems an hour long. The staff are very polite and the food is delicious. My only issue was the roped line they had sectioned off they didn't take in consideration any wheelchair users because I had to move 2 poles out just to get through. I mentioned it to the employee and they went behind me to open them up more. They said the mall only allowed them so have them so far out. Also they were so busy they turned off their app ordering; which was the reason I downloaded it before I even left the house. Definitely will be visiting here again. Oh and the diet lemonade is amazing; regular lemonade is a little tart but it's definitely fresh. So there's not a lot of Chick Fil A's in the area, so I know whenever I'm up at Somerset mall, I must go here. They have the Chick fil a app, which I recommend ordering from because then you don't have to wait in the long lines on the weekend. Side note - get the Chick-fil-A calendar. Good quality chicken-centered fast food. The salads are good quality and have a lot of little vegetables in it comparatively speaking (Wendy's Mcd) Lemonade is super sugary but glad they offer it. Their chocolate chip cookie is very good. The waffle fries are also good. I find the original chicken sandwich is salty, but sometimes it is what you are looking for. I like the kids meal option. Fries are gluten free and so are the grilled chicken nuggets. Order from the app and there isn't much of a wait! They even throw in a free cookie for using it right now. read more

Alright, IVE BEEN MISSING OUT! It took me way too long to come here and check this out! But luckily, the hype has died down so although the line was kind of long, it went fast. It was worth every minute of the wait! I just don't know how other restaurants in the Somerset food court do well anymore, because Chik-fil-A IS SLAPPING! Aka super busy. So I was told the nuggets are a must have, so I had to grab some of those! But I also got the spicy chicken delux. Boy oh boy was my mouth and stomach happy! All of their chicken is amazing juicy chicken breast's or nuggets breaded to perfection. Served with a side of waffle fries. Came here on a Friday night about 10 mins before they were closing and yet there was still definitely a large large line... but it was well worth the wait and I was so surprised as to how fast everything finished!!! Props to the employees here, considering how long the lines are and how busy it is, they really managed to make it go by quickly. No flavor was sacrificed in that speedy process, I absolutely hate fast food but this was just delicious.. it never disappoints, it's amazing. The lemonade is also great. We mainly get the spicy chicken sandwich and nuggets and they're mouthwatering. They also sell grilled nuggets but I haven't had the chance to try those yet. Not to mention the amazing waffle fries that I want to just never stop eating. Another important thing that won me over was the no dairy in the breading of the chicken & no dairy in the bun bread! Wooohoo!!! Even in non franchise restaurants it's difficult to find bread with no dairy. So 5+ stars for Chick-Fil-A. THE best Spicy Chicken sandwich on the planet. I went here on the way home after officiating a BB Game in the area. I have had this argument with a coworker that Wendy's has the best spicy chicken sandwich. Well needless to say, Wendy's is second best! I love the light kick of spices to the sandwich topped with pepper jack cheese. Those pickles on the bottom give a nice little salty snap to it when you bite into it. Now let me go to the waffle fries, great! The sweet tea is outstanding. Second on the list of super delicious is the "nuggets" I tried both the breaded and grilled and loved them both. Now my dinner has a dozen of these added as well. Love the hot sauce to dip the nuggets in too. I have more BB games in the area. Will plan on going here every time afterward. read more

I'm not typically a fast-food person, but I must say Chick-fil-A hit the spot! I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich which came on a multigrain bun and fresh slice of tomatoe & lettuce. Their Chick-fil-A sauce is a must order!!! It tastes like a combination of honey and BBQ flavors that is heavenly. We waited in line for a good 20 minutes to order, and then another 10 for our food to be ready. The time we waited did not represent "fast food" to me, but the quality was amazing! Tried ordering the southwest salad without cheese, however they said all their salads were pre-made and cheese couldn't be taken off anything. However a Manger came and said someone in the back would make our salad from scratch- great customer service. Customer service at this location is not nearly as good as the southern locations or even midwestern ones outside of Michigan. The prices are also a lot higher than they are at any other Chick Fil a, even the McNamara location at DTW is cheaper. Have been there several times in the past few months and had negative experiences with the employees being nasty, getting the order wrong and then blaming you, etc. Yet, for some reason, there's still a queue around the corner every day. Waiting to eat here. I really recommend visiting one of the other eateries in the shopping centre rather than here. It's a shame, but this one just lacks that usual chick fil a customer service that so many memes and posts have been made about. read more

This was my first experience with this location and I must say it was awesome!! Line was pretty long being that it just opened a few weeks ago, but they were organized and it moved pretty fast. Food was hot, fresh and very tasty!! The chicken is so juicy and is cooked well and I'm loving the waffle fries as well. Favorite sauce is the Chick fil A Sauce..yum. I will most definitely be back. If you're in need of a chicken sandwich, this place never lets me down! There is always a line but less so during the week. Line moves fast. You can order on the app to save time. Try as many sauces as you'd like. And I personally love the Arnold Palmer, sweet tea and lemonade! Make sure you get your free refill too! Per usual, customer service was good, but it's not the same experience as going into a stand alone Chick-Fil-A (no one will come to your table and check on you, offer to refill your drinks, ect) ..... so 4 stars due to that. read more

First things first, I've been to Chick-fil-A before. Most recently about a month ago, at DTW (Detroit airport), actually. My boyfriend had never been to a Chick-fil-A before and was dying to go, so we finally checked it out this Saturday, around 6:30pm, which was a rookie mistake ... since it's new, do NOT go on a weekend (Fri night / Sat - it's closed on Sundays). It took us about an hour to get through the line. Chick-fil-A gave my company (I work across the street) cards to give out for free sandwiches, and since I usually get the grilled chicken sandwich there, I tried their classic (fried) chicken this time. It was VERY good - tender and juicy. I also got it with their waffle fries (again, what I usually get, as they're great) and I tried the frozen lemonade, which was fantastic - it's lemonade mixed with ice cream. Tastes a bit like a creamsicle but with lemon instead of orange. The other Chick-fil-A's I have been to have mostly been in the Atlanta area, I believe (ATL itself, too) plus the Cedar Point one before it closed. It's very tasty although I don't know if it's worth an hour's wait. My recommendation is to wait until the hoopla dies down, OR try to go at a random time - on my receipt, I can get another original (fried) chicken sandwich if I do a survey, so I think I will redeem that at a random hour, maybe like 4 or 4:30pm after work on a weekday. read more

Oh how good it feels to finally have Chick Fil A in Michigan! I know they have one in the airport and one at Oakland University but now we have them so everyone can enjoy them! If you aren't flying or don't want to drive all the way to Rochester, you're pretty much screwed. For those that wonder what the big fuss is about or why the wait is at least an hour at this new location, the answer is simple. Their chicken is one of a kind. Juicy, well seasoned, thick and it's just plain delicious! They have a wide variety on their menu from the classic chicken sandwich that they are known for to grilled chicken, chicken nuggets, grilled chicken nuggets, salads, wraps, shakes and more. When this place first opened, the wait was two hours. People were camped out in the parking structure the previous night. It's been about a month and the wait it is still at least an hour. So your best bet is to download the Chick Fil A app and preorder your meal. However, you will be waiting at least 15 minutes to get your preordered meal. Originally, the wait was about 2-5 minutes, but more and more people discovered the app to the point it crashed for about a week. It beats waiting at least an hour though! The staff works hard and as fast as they can to make sure the line moves as fast as possible. read more

Great food but what a disaster this place is a COVID-19 outbreak waiting to happen. I feel bad for the employees there's no social distancing they must've had 30 people behind the counter where there should've been three. They treat us customers like cattle have you roped off in a area there must've been 200 people waiting for food half of them without mask drinking sodas and waiting up to 45 minutes to an hour for their food. I canceled my order because I felt unsafe I'm just surprised for that company to treat their employees and their customers this way. I don't often eat fast food, but when I do it is definitely going to be Chick Fil A. Usually there is a bit of a wait at this location, but mostly because Somerset Mall is a "destination" for a lot of folk, it is the best food they offer in the food court, and one of the few Chick Fil A's in the state of Michigan. To me, the wait is expected, yet despite the long line, it moves very quickly. It can be somewhat chaotic on a busy day at the mall, but in my experiences getting food here, they have never once messed up my order, which is impressive. I usually get chicken tenders or the nuggets, the combo meal, and they always give me additional sauces when I ask for them (seems like they have an endless amount). I'm knocking them down a couple of stars...they deserve the rip. Look: you've got a truncated menu at this restaurant compared to a standard, stand-alone CFA restaurant. I think, in all the several dozens of times (100 or so, perhaps?) I've been to any number of other CFAs across the nation, I think that there's been *one* time that *one* place was out of *one* thing. Once, and just the once. Here, basically every single time you come here, they're out of this. Or that. Or the other thing. God forbid that they have, you know...the bare minimum standards that constitute a mall CFA location. "Oh, we're out of lemons." "Oh, we don't have soup (back while it was still on the menu)." "Oh, we're out of lemons (AGAIN!!!!!)." I mean, who puts lemon in sweet tea, right? Nobody! That's just *crazy talk*!!!! Or who orders stuff that's ON THE MENU RIGHT IN PLAIN SIGHT?!?!? With *pictures* yet? More absolute balderdash, I tell you!!!!!! Time and time and time again. You don't offer breakfast. You no longer offer soup, or the Superfood side item. YOU STILL RUN OUT OF ITEMS!!!!! You've been open almost a year, now...when does it start being about the fact that you're poorly run? That CFA would allow you to continue to franchise in this state based on how you're running this location is ludicrous to me. You have *TONS* of customers...you're making money hand-over-fist, here. You *have* to be...there's never a "down time" that I've seen! Yet still: you consistently run out of food items. Straws, ketchup, and utensils aren't regularly/routinely included in orders that include drinks, fries, or sauce of any kind. All orders, whether dine-in or carryout, are bagged. You don't even have to provide *trays* for heaven's sake! Sweet tea is served warm. How much *easier* could it be made for you? Apologies may help on occasion, but you know what's better? Getting things *right*, which you seem kind of allergic to. Your fruit cup side? Yeah: it'd be good if it looked like the picture on the menu board, you know, the one that shows lots of different kinds of fruit all mixed up together? When it's 3/4 diced apples, that not *really* representative of a "fruit cup". That's "Apples That Accidentally Got A Piece Of Strawberry In There". You still need lessons on line efficiency, but those *pale in comparison* to the issues with keeping food items in stock, with consistency in preparation, with packing orders...the term "dropping the ball like it's hot" comes to mind. If this was representative of the CFA brand across the board, people wouldn't regard CFA as highly as they do. Get your act together and try seeing what that's like for a while. I get what all the hype is about - they make a hearty, juicy, fresh tasting chicken sandwich. Breaded and seasoned well, on a bun that respects the patty, with succulent chicken that successfully evades the mass produced generic taste fast food is known for. So eating it surrounded by the white noise of mallrats and shoppers galore is totally worth it. Bring earplugs or play a symphony in your earbuds if you want - because when enjoyed once in while in pure starvation - this truly hits the spot. Of course part of my passion is driven by the bias that metro Detroit does not have standalone locations yet. I personally most like the Spicy Chicken sandwich, deluxe style (lettuce, pepperjack cheese and tomatoes), add pickles and topped with Chick-Fil-A sauce on it or on the side. Waffle fries are to die for, especially with the hot creamy dipping cheese sauce. And hands down the sweet tea with light ice is the true Southerner way to wash down this chicken sandwich from heaven. For those who can't handle some heat out the kitchen, the original Chick-Fil-A sandwich is of course where it all started. I still recommend the house Chick-Fil-A sauce on it though. Excitedly waiting for when they finally build standalone locations all over metro Detroit. In the meantime, Somerset food court will have to do since I am not going to the friggin' airport or my alma mater's food court for a sandwich. And while I do agree with the owner's Christian beliefs and traditional marriage, I also believe people shouldn't get there underwear in a twist over these things.
