Went back to the Shack, this time with darling daughter #2. She had a cheeseburger. I had the Shroom burger. The Shroom is: Crisp-fried portobello mushroom filled with melted muenster and cheddar cheeses, topped with lettuce, tomato, and ShackSauce. We shared fries and a Cookies and Cream shake. Burgers are still tiny for the price. The cheese on the Shroom burger was almost like Cheez Whiz, kinda gross. The portabella in the fry coating was minimal! Shake Shack continues to be one of my favorite burgers, and I have found this location to be the best in Metro Detroit. The burger patties are always well flavored, and the buns are always fresh. That being said, there is still some room for improvement. Multiple times I have ordered their specialty fries and the dipping sauce has been excluded (ex. Ranch with the spicy fries). Also, the Smokeshack typically has an extreme amount of the cherry peppers on top making the bun soggy. Whenever I order this I end up removing at least half of the peppers. Today, I ordered cheese fries and was given plain fries instead. We were dining in today, so this was corrected by the cashier who also apologized. Overall, the taste of the food outweighs some of the minor issues I've encountered. Nothing can compare to their cheese fries, which is the main reason I continue to come back. There are plenty of good burgers in the area, but I have not found better fries! They are absolutely worth the money every time. Their milkshakes are also great as well, but their specialty lemonades can be hit or miss. Food is great I have no complaints. The service however, is really disappointing. They have a shelf for mobile order pick up to grab your order. I attempted to grab my order and an employee from across the restaurant yelled "don't touch that!" came over, asked my name, and required that I show my email receipt for proof of purchase. Talk about unnecessary, uncomfortable, rude and embarrassing. I understand if there is a theft issue for mobile orders (which I highly doubt), but then why not keep the orders behind the register? I don't condone any sort of profiling or assumptions made regarding any customer, but I would also like to point out that I came from my office as a well dressed professional by myself...definitely not a suspicious character that deserved to be chased down and yelled at. I've always loved shake shack... but now I don't think I can trust it ever again.. I feel sick after eating this burger. I told them no cheese, and all of them acknowledged me saying that. I'm not sure what the actual fuck was in this burger, but it wasn't edible. And it was half the burger, I at half of whatever it is. I'm pretty sure it was an avocado peel. I was really excited when this location opened! I like the size, location, and parking situation (there is a garage in back to deal with the overflow). It looks deceiving, it doesn't appear large, but it was such a hearty portion I only was able to eat half. And I'm a big eater! I also wanted to save room since I can't come here without treating myself to dessert. One child got the chicken shack. She also could only eat half since she wanted dessert. The other got a cheeseburger, hold veggies and shack sauce, add bacon and bbq sauce. She loved the bbq sauce so much we ordered extra. We also got two orders of fries to share between four of us. Such good portions, again we had leftovers. Plus I ordered a side of honey mustard, which I must say is hands down the BEST honey mustard I've ever had. It is amazing here! For dessert I had the Oh My Pie concrete, which was incredible. We also got the s'mores concrete, pumpkin pie shake, and coffee shake, all super delish! If you come here they serve some of the best white wine pours and a refreshing beer. I highly recommend both. The building houses a large screen TV, you can hang out with a burger and a drink and enjoy. It's definitely fan food, but we are big fans. They have no contact number to actually talk to a real person. If you call, they have a "use our app" option or "talk to a manager" option, but the managers do not answer the phones. I would know, I called over a dozen times and no one picked up. So therefore if you need a refund or have an incorrect order like I had, you have to go there. Absolutely flawed. I'm livid. I had heard about Shake Shack for quite some time but never got a chance to try it. It's not in my hometown nor where I go to school. She said it's not something to compare with In-N-Out Burger. And she was right. That place is much cheaper and tastes different. We came past 4pm on a Wednesday and there were a lot more people than I thought in here. Mostly families, although I did some groups of friends. It wasn't that busy as there was only one person in front of us in line. We ordered the chicken shack and the shack burger with a side of fries to share. Pricey! The total was a little over $15! I will add that customer service was fantastic! The girl at the register was personable and made conversation. She seemed happy to be there, as did all the other workers. They give you a pager for the food even if you're getting to go. We maybe waited 5 minutes if not a little more than that. I wasn't a fan of how they packaged the food. It wasn't covered...not great when you're transporting stuff in the car and you want the food to stay somewhat warm. I did notice that the tables are made from former bowling lanes. Glad to see that they try to be eco friendly! I thought my chicken sandwich was just okay. It had a good amount of crunch and the sauce gave some good flavor to it, but it could've been more flavorful in general. The burger was also nothing spectacular. Nothing standout. My sister thought it was fine but said she wouldn't go out of her way for it again. The fries were good though! Crunchy and had the right amount of salt. I'm curious about the cheese fries now. Seems pricey that this doesn't come as a side automatically. I'm willing to come back here again but not often. The price point really dissuades me from coming here much. It had been months since I've had a burger and fries so I was looking forward to this meal. I've previously been to a Shake Shack in New York so I was familiar with the restaurant chain and the customer service philosophy advocated by the owner. However, the experiences were quite different even though the food was similar. Here, the restaurant is quite large with seating both indoors and out. It looks more like a hip, sit-down restaurant with exposed ceiling and ductwork, metal beams and accents, wood-clad walls, and artisan-created furnishings, than it does a quick casual restaurant. Outdoor seating takes the form of nice picnic tables under a lit pergola. There is even a foosball table outdoors to keep the kids entertained but with the nearby construction going on, also the accompanying construction dust. Even though I've been to a Shake Shack before, when my stylist warned me that the burgers were small and expensive, I kept that in mind when ordering. I went with the Smoke Shack, double. That is a double cheeseburger, topped with bacon. The medium patties were well seared and seasoned with nicely melted cheddar. The crinkle fries were lightly crisped and tender, with lightly salted. Yum. The burger and fries by themselves were already too much food. Halfway through, I was stuffed. However, I had to at least try a concrete and sampled both the Pie Oh My and the Concrete of Troy. The former was thick and creamy. I loved the dense, lush texture with large chunks of pie crust mixed in. I generally don't like crust but it worked here. The Concrete of Troy was amazing. Imagine vanilla concrete with streaks of caramel sauce and chocolate bits. As you can tell, I loved the food here. But I'm not a fan of everything else. I thought the staff, while friendly and helpful, was slow and inefficient. There seemed to be a lot of people standing around behind the counter. And waiting? I got the sense that everybody was still familiarizing themselves with their roles and have not yet developed a rhythm for working together. The wait was longer than expected. By comparison, when we were in NY, even though the line was out the door, we placed our order and got our food fairly quickly - by the time we paid. That was not the case here. Parking is also a huge challenge. Much of it had been blocked by bright orange construction fencing. I had actually abandoned the first trip because there were no spots. During today's visit, one part of the lot was even blocked to install a building sign. There are a few spots for those who had planned on take out and a few spots for those dining in. Otherwise, I think the majority of the spots are on the other side of where the restaurant sits. I'm glad I visited but unfortunately, there is not a compelling enough reason to return. read more

Shake Shack is my favorite fast food / fast casual establishment! I was so pleased when they opened the second Shake Shack location in my hometown! I have been here many times over the years and the food never disappoints. The quality at Shake Shack is unbeatable, and specifically the customer service at the Troy location has always been wonderful. Through the pandemic, they have continued to do a spectacular job with online ordering & picking up at the door. They have plenty of parking now that the initial crazy frenzy has died down, but I would always recommend (even outside of pandemic times) to place an order through their mobile app so that you can park in the mobile app parking! My favorites at Shake Shack include: their crinkle cut fries that somehow stay crispy even in my half hour drive back home, the chick'n bites that are hands down the best chicken I've ever had and the breading is likewise insane, the chick'n shack, & copious amounts of shack sauce! First time coming to Shake Shack and had to see what the hype was about. Beware the terrible parking, especially during the lunch hour. The complex appears to be under construction from other vendors so here is to hoping that soon enough parking will get better. I had to park all the way by Crooks to eventually find a spot. The building and inside is definitely cool, rustic, and warm at the same time. Lots of options for shakes but I wanted to go with food for my first try. The line moved decently fast even with a lunch crowd. Workers were fine, not overly friendly but fine. I got the classic shake shack burger but added onions and a basket of fries. Sat down and they call you/have a beeper for when your food is ready for pick up. When I got my food I was a bit disappointed with how small the burger was. It filled me up but for the price was a bit high. I will say the burger was cooked well and actually had pink in it - which for most places cooks their burgers well done. The burger did taste good and fresh. My favorite was the crinkle cut fries! Wow, so good. Salty and crunchy which usually fries from other places are cold and soggy. So I've been to the Detroit Shake Shack location twice, and was super excited when I heard they were adding one in Troy - I work about 3 minutes away, and live about 5 minutes away from this location. I finally got to drop by today to check it out for lunch. Tip: order on the app. I set my order for 12:45pm, showed up around that time, and showed them my phone and my order was ready. They will also text you when your order is ready, and you don't necessarily have to show them your phone. I ordered the hamburger but with Shack sauce, and a side of fries. They have a water station which is nice. Definite plus that you don't need a bathroom code to access the bathroom here too (looking at you, Detroit location ...). The food was delicious as usual, the hamburger especially ... very thin patty but nice and crispy. Yum. The fries are crinkle fries and are also very good. I was wishing that I had ordered a shake, but the shakes are about $5.50 each which is a little pricey ... for a burger + fries my meal was about $8 with tax (no drink, just water). The reason this location gets 4/5 stars and not 5/5 from me is the parking. Good God. I was prepared to battle to find a space, based on the previous reviews here, but it's really awful right now ... all of Melting Pot's parking is shut down, because of the construction, so your choices are two small rows of parking right next to Shake Shack, one row of parking that is parallel to Crooks Rd., or park next door at the Bonefish/Carrabba's plaza and hoof it. That's what I had to do, and it started raining when I walked back so that was fun. I love Shake Shack and normally give them a 5 star review but this location has some bugs to work out in their operations as they only just opened a month ago. I went for a quick dinner and quick is not what I got. I ordered the food via mobile app. When you order on the app it automatically calculates one half hour as the first available time for your order pick up. You can choose later times but I chose to pick up within 1/2 hr of placing the order. When I arrived, the food was not ready for another 20 minutes. But the wait time did allow me to scout and snag a table. Seating is limited at this location compared to Detroit, so if you are here at peak time it is tough to get an open seat. There is outdoor seating which will help with the overflow during warm weather months. But it's November and everyone is searching for seats at peak time. Of mention regarding the app is it doesn't give you the option of dine in or take out. Everything you order on the app is take out. Not much of inconvenience but maybe a bit of a waste with the nice take out bag and the pkg contents, albeit great "dunnage", to keep drinks and food stable in the bag. The food was pretty good - had the Hot Chick'n sandwich and the chili cheese fries. Huge spicy chicken breast sandwich was very tasty and the chili cheese fries are excellent- their chili tastes so good. Funny thing is the don't offer chili an item to order on its own- it only comes on fries, burgers or hot dogs. Nonetheless it's a very good alternative to our native coneys but not a substitute. Tried their one of their holiday shakes - frozen hot cocoa. Off the charts thick, creamy and tasty. I ended up going back the next day (Sat noon) to meet up with a friend and the food was not up to par as the night before. I ordered the single shack burger and again the chili cheese fries. The burger was over cooked and thin to the point of being crispy - not what I would typically expect from a Shake Shack. Also they ran out of scallions for the chili cheese fries. They also ran out of one of their holiday flavor shakes - Christmas cookie. They also ran out forks. It's Saturday noon and they were out of a lot of items. They need to work out their inventory ordering issues. Being out of key items on your menu on a Sat afternoon is a big miss. Finally got a chance to try Shake Shack and it was GREAT! I ordered the Shroom burger and a cookie n cream shake. Shroom burger was sooooo good! It has a deep fried mushroom with cheese pulled (Yummmmmm). The burger was not soggy at all. The cookie n cream shake was fantastic too. I didn't get the mint with it. It wasn't too sweet and the portion is big. Overall experience was great! But shake shack burger was definitely on the pricier range. It costed around $14 to get a burger and a shake (in n out probably cost ~$10 for a meal with fries and soda) But it definitely worth a try if you never had one before. FYI, the parking lot for this location is quite small so it took us a while to find parking. read more

Glad to finally check this place out since it's the closest one to home. I really dig the outdoor patio seating area along with the public parking. Classic go-to is the SmokeShack but today I decided to try the 'Shroom Burger, with the crisp-fried portello mushroom filled with ooey muenster and cheddar cheeses, with lettuce, tomato and Shacksauce. It was not too greasy, which I appreciated. I wish there was more sauce to complete the mushroom. The mushroom could have been a bit more tender, since it had more of a jerky texture to it and was hard to take one bite without chomping on the whole mushroom. The crinkle-cut cheese fries were okay, wish there was more flavor from the blended cheese sauce. This was an overall decent experience but I think NY Shake Shacks are still the winner. read more

I went to a handicap spot to park but it said it was only for Fidelity and all others would be towed away. The other nearest parking was reserved for people that ordered their food via app...never understood how those that don't go in to dine get better parking than those that do. I really liked the option to purchase beer or wine. I was going to purchase a glass of wine but I couldn't see paying $8.00 or $9.00 for a 6 oz glass of house wine. I'm glad we went but I won't be rushing back due to the parking situation and prices. read more
