It's been so long since I've eaten at Chicken Express but I decided to stop at this one in Clyde for dinner tonight. They have really gone down in quality and up in price. My food was like luke warm at best. Tenders were cold and old, and the macaroni n cheese was "clumpy." The cashier was nice though. Stopped here for lunch while on the road. The place was very clean and there was a nice sound lady behind the counter. I ordered a two-piece with mash potatoes. The potatoes with gravy were very good, but both pieces of chicken were terrible. The chicken was very, very greasy and overcooked. It was some of the worst chicken I have ever had, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. read more

I went about 5:30 pm there were no cars in the parking lot and only 2 sitting on the patio smoking. I ordered a 3p piece dark with green beans and a biscuit. A large Dr Pepper, the chicken was over done the green beans so salty they made my mouth hurt. My drink was wrong. I will going to Abilene next time I want fried chicken. read more

So , I'm sitting in line at the Clyde Chicken Express. It's 9:35 when I place my order of a 20 piece family tender with a sweet tea. I'm told it's going to be a 15 minute wait which I'm fine with. They run my card and then tell me it's going to be a 30 minute wait and hand me the sweet tea with no straw, which I ask for and then am informed they have no straws either. Average chicken. The sides are tasty. Rolls are delicious. Staff average. If you're ordering bone in chicken, be prepared to wait.

Quite possibly the worst/slowest drive through in all of Texas. 37 minutes from pull in to pull out on a Tuesday night. To make matters worse, get on the interstate after the ridiculous delay only to realize they forgot my cheese sticks!! Come on man! Severe re-training required here and I want my darn cheese sticks!! My love for Raising Cane's made me semi-hesitant to try this place out while on a road trip from Lubbock back to Houston (which, if you've never made the 8+ hour drive, bring a friend or two). However, my love for chicken tenders made me enthusiastically (and mean it) say yes when my friend suggested it for lunch. I ordered the number 1 with French fries. This meal came with 4 chicken tenders, a batch of fries, a buttery dinner roll, and a large fountain drink. The fries were a bit soggy - but I really enjoy my fries that way. The buttery dinner roll has waaay too much butter (there's usually no such thing to me as too much butter, so you know this had a lot of butter). But the real superstar here was the chicken. I was completely expecting greasy, fast-food chicken tenders but no. This was different. The chicken tenders were not greasy at all, yet still lightly crispy. The chicken itself was tender and juicy, perfectly complimented by the gravy dipping sauce. The service by what seemed like high-schoolers was top notch. This was my first time at any Chicken Express but this will not be my last time at any Chicken Express. read more

I stopped by to get a meal t go, I ordered a number one and up-sized the drink to a 44 oz. Drink. The chicken tenders were so small I could fit all four pieces in one hand. This was the worst meal I have ever received from this restaurant. I also ordered an extra piece of corn. I spent 10.25 for a extremely poor meal. I don't mind the price if had received decent meal but this was the worst meal ever. read more

I used to live the tea at this location. Recently after ordering it several times in hopes it would improve, it has not. The taste is definetly OLD. I am only assuming they are not making new tea or maybe they are, but adding it to the older tea in the bins. Either way the tea is not recommended any longer. It used to be the best tea around, including Abilene, but no longer. Stay away because if the tea is no longer fresh it should make you wonder what else is being neglected. read more

Well this is about the slowest fast food restaurant on earth (at least this location) 23 minutes of waiting to get my food. Asked me to pull forward and there I waited forever while others behind me when past me. You would think I ordered steak and lobster. It was a simple gizzards and fries. We've said more than once that we'll never go back but this time we mean it! We've waited more than 20 min on several occasions. This time I called the order in. So happy we stumbled upon this place while driving through from CA to SC. Came through around 8pm so that I could feed my son. I was a little hesitant but decided to give it a try. My husband ordered the chicken tender meal. We had to wait a while because they were all out but they gave us biscuits to snack on. It was pretty busy even at that time. Courteous customer service. The tenders were not the precooked ones you just fry up. It was freshly hand breaded and fried to perfection. Not too salty, either. It was more chicken than breading. The oil used to fry wasn't old which is super important. The fries that came with it was yummy, too and that gravy was on point! I wish we had these where we're going :( Oh my gosh, the sweet tea....liquid crack! Need I say more? Sooo much better than KFC or Bojangles. Highly recommend. read more

I have actually gone out of my way to stop here in the past because I like the way they season and cook the fish better than the other Chicken Express restaurants along the route from Dallas to Midland. Yesterday I had an experience that will insure this is my last visit. My daughter and I stopped for lunch and this is how it went: Me: I would like a diet coke and a three piece fish filet Staff: Any sides, hon? Me: No thanks. Staff: Do you want hush puppies, a biscuit or a roll? Me: A biscuit, please. Staff (looking over her shoulder): Do we have any biscuits? Ma'am, we don't have any biscuits. Me: Okay, a roll. Daughter: I would like a two piece dark meat chicken and fried okra. Staff: And what to drink? Daughter (looks at me):Do you want me to order you a diet coke? Me: I already ordered a diet coke. Staff: I can give you an extra side. Daughter: Okay, mashed potatoes. Staff: Do you want a biscuit or a roll Me: I thought the biscuits... Staff(giggling): Oh, if you want a biscuit it will be twelve minutes. Sometimes I am impulsive. Daughter: A roll is fine Staff brings food but no diet coke. Me: You didn't give me my diet coke. Staff: You didn't order one. Me: I did order one. You must not have heard me. Please give me a diet coke (holding my debit card out toward her). Staff (showing me my receipt): Let me show you your receipt. See, you didn't order one. Me: That doesn't prove I didn't order one (she interrupts me saying "ma'am you didn't order one) and t doesn't matter if I ordered one or not (interrupting again "but you didn't") just give me my my damn diet coke. She says okay and closes the window. In a few minutes the manager opens the window. Manager: What is the problem? Me: I ordered a diet coke and didn't get one. I guess she didn't hear my order but instead of just getting me my coke she was trying to argue with me about whether I ordered one or not. Manager: A three piece filet doesn't come with a drink. Me: I know but I ordered a drink. Manager: I know you are the customer but you can't talk to my staff like that. She said you told her to give you your damn diet coke. Me: I did because she kept arguing with me. Can I have my diet coke now? Manager: Ma'am, you didn't order a diet coke. Me: Do I have to go buy it somewhere else? Manager: Ma'am you shouldn't have talked to........I drive away and get a much better diet coke from McDonalds. read more

Had a number of bad experience with this place. Order family size pickle and. Most of them have no pickles in them. Then got chicken with mash potato and they said they have no gravely. Then got all the way home and my fish was not in my order I called and they said sorry but we can't do anything unless the owner tells us. read more

I don't understand. Maybe a new manager but we use to drive to Clyde especially to get the chicken. We came by today we ordered 8pc mix. Should have been two of everything. No it wasn't They use to put it in a large box. The pieces were so small they fit in the 6 roll box. I am so disappointed. They were the abdolute best. We received one breast three wings. Small small pieces‍. We also ordered the large gizzard box. There were not 18 gizzards in the box. Most were halves & not near full. They use to fill the small box. I'm disappointed for sure. The only star from me was because I had to in order for my review to post!! I was a loyal customer for many years. But the last 3 visits were very unpleasant. I ask for fresh gizzards and was given what seemed like left overs from lunch. This last experience I specifically asked them to prepare fresh gizzards. When I received my order, I asked if they were fresh, and The lady who gave me my order said "yes." I got home and to my surprise they were old and dry crap. I toke them back to complain and get fresh food. To my surprise the same employee that said "Yes they're fresh!" was the one helping me. Then when I asked for a new order of "fresh" Gizzards to be made, she told me "oh, we're out of Gizzards" and proceeded to call the manager over. The manager says to me: "I'm sorry, we're out of Gizzards." I told them I'd like my money back, the manager obliged me, and once I told said manager that the server had lied about the "fresh gizzards" there was no reply. I left the store never to return. And, once I get home, I checked the rest of my order, one of which should have been a kids meal with a LEG. However, I discovered that it was 2 tenders which were also dried out and old.
