Two of the tenders were freshly fried. Tasted great. The other two from the number 1 combo tasted stale and lukewarm. When it is chewy and not crunchy, it take off stars. Fries were very greasy, looks like oil temperature was not high enough. Or maybe fries just sat out too long. Gravy and tea were fine. The roll was small and didn't taste as good as the highway 78 Sacshe location. That location could teach this place a thing or two about quality. I have given this place three or four chances over the last two years. It is poorly run, poorly managed. The health department should shut it down. I will never be back. I watched an employee drop an entire sleeve of cups on the dirty floor and pick them back up, and began to serve customers with them. They were out of ice, out of sweet tea. The drive-through was completely neglected, six cars turned around and left. I parked and went in, and witnessed the above scenario. The fries were under done and the bread was under done. We went to pick up some chicken through the drive thru and first off the young lady taking our order was very rude and that should of been my hint to spend our money somewhere else. So we ordered our food and she told us our total and we decided to add a gallon of sweet tea. When I checked our bank account the next day we noticed that there were two charges from chicken express. There was one charge without the tea 41 dollars and some change and the second charge was with the tea which was 46 dollars and some change. So when my husband went to the store to handle this the manager was also very rude and saying things to my husband that wasn't professional. All in all we WILL NEVER EAT HERE AGAIN!!!! read more

They absolutely do not ask if you want condiments when going through the drive through and do not provide any. This is the WORSE Chicken Express I have ever been to. The employees are more concerned about their personal life and talking to each other than helping out the customer who is paying their hourly wage. (I don't think they understand that they need customers to keep the paycheck coming each week.) The food is down right horrible and most of the time it's over done and almost burnt. Whoever owns this location needs to clean house and bring in a whole new set of employees. Oh, and teach them how to speak to a customer using proper English. I don't get their chicken. About the only reason I go here is to get their catfish. It's pretty good. Not great, but I call ahead and place an order so when I get there, I only have to wait 5 or 10 minutes in line, then I have to explain to the young illiterate at the register that I called ahead for fish, then she charges me for chicken, which is the wrong price. At that point she can't figure out how to run the register so the manager has to come over and show her how to do it (again). Had same problem last time I was there. So, the girl had already swiped my card, so the manager has to manually calculate how much MORE I owe for fish instead of chicken, then they have to swipe my card AGAIN so they can get the rest of their money out of me. All during this process, the manager never makes eye contact with me, the customer, and she never apologizes for the problem or the delay. This is why if you call ahead, the fish is cooked but it takes them 10 minutes to get you out of there, even when there is no one else at the counter but me and the obvious trainee and the manager. read more

So we frequent this place weekly we love the food not so much the prices. Today is not the first time they mess up my to go order. Last time I was already home and just made it work. Today, however I get home and I was missing two items. I called and the Mgr. Caleb said he'd be glad to replace missing items bring the receipt. So I took the food there and he redid my order I requested he at least throw in a dinner roll and he said several times "I can't give you anything for free it's company policy!" ... free??? Really? I have to drive back for 10-12 mins each way and he can't even throw in a dinner roll? I'm a weekly customer but my time, gas, loyalty, and effort to go get my missing items are worthless?? No value to my effort and loyalty for their product?? ... Marketing 101 ... Give them the pickle!! Sheesh I'm never going back to this franchise! When I drive all the way back to get the missing item you not only charge me for the missing item but you treat me rudely! I got home only to see that I was missing two orders of okra. I called on my way back up there to tell them they left it out. I repeated my story 3 times on the phone, the last time to the manager who told me the employee said she put it in my bag. I called home just to make sure I didn't make a mistake, and just as I told them, NO okra. I went through the drive thru and told them again that I didn't get my okra. The girl who packed my order came out to tell me how she knew for sure exactly where she put it in my bag. Finally after arguing a few more minutes Miss Order Packer went in and got some okra, still insisting it was in my sack. I have received many incomplete orders in my lifetime and never once has a manager questioned me. They usually apologize profusely and give me something free for my trouble. I don't know Mr. Chicken Express Manager's name but he is sadly lacking managerial skills if he would argue over 2 orders okra. Needless to say, i won't be back and I'm really sorry and can't award zero stars. read more

Yelp needs to offer negative stars for restaurants like this. I've had good chicken and sides from this location a few years back. Not so much today. Fried okra and pickles were old and swimming in nasty grease. Chicken tenders had way too much breading and were cooked to death. Even the honey mustard and sweet and sour dipping sauces were old looking and tasting and I think that stuff has a 100 year shelf life. Everything tasted like it was cooked a day or two ago and kept in a pan full of grease under a warmer for several shifts. Diet Coke tasted like something, but not real Diet Coke. All in all, horrible food and drink, and calling this awful stuff food is being very kind...needless to say, this crap ended up in the trash, too bad you don't find these things out until you get home. Thank goodness for a fresh and quick grilled three cheese sandwich on fresh sourdough to save the day!!! I figure this bad review is sufficient recourse, certainly would not want a comped meal from this place...you can tell when a restaurant is run by people cutting every possible corner to max out profits. Keep on driving by this joint if you're in the mood for good fried chicken! i decided to write a review because it seems everyone wants to say bad not enough people want to say good. i guess thats the society we live in now everyone wants to be negative. i've been going to this store for about 5+ years. They have their ups and downs with employees it's obvious, but seems to be a norm in that biz. They have a core of great employees. anyway everything was great today. they were extremely busy it was a sunday lunch, dining room was packed and driver thru had cars all around the building but moving quickly. I chose to come inside to hit the bathroom but it allowed me to see how all the employees were hustling. every employee was trying to their hardest to get the order correct and it was. hot and free tenders & great sweet tea as always. keep it up and i'll be coming for another 5+ years. read more

This place doesn't even deserve one star! I'm very disappointed how Chicken Express in Rockwall handled their mistakes. My husband went after a long day at work to pick up dinner. He went through the drive thru and the lady told him it would be 20 minutes to get it cooked. He then told her if he could just park and come inside to pick it up she said ok. After 20 minutes waiting in the parking lot he went in. They said "oh we didn't cook it we assume you drive off" REALLY!!!! My husband told her "you said 'OK' to me waiting in the parking lot". They happen to have enough chicken plus the extra tenders we ordered. The GM happen to be there and no apologies no nothing. Before he left he asked, "everything is here even the tenders" (because it never fails they ALWAYS forget something) and the GM said "yes". He gets home (we don't live close) and there was NO tenders. I happened to be coming home from my son's basketball practice and just swung by picked up the receipt, dropped off the kids and headed to Chicken Express to get our money back. When arriving I told the young lady,my husband called and y'all forgot some of the food I'm here to get a refund". She said, "oh well you do have the card?" I said, "no but I have the receipt" she said, "YOU NEED TO GO BACK HOME AND THE CARD". I was like WOW really. I told her I wasn't going to go back home to pick it up because I had to go pick up my teens form their growth group in Rowlett. She said she had to have the card. She called the GM because I told her she needed to make the mistake right. He told her she could only give me the tenders or I needed to go back and get the card. I told her I didn't need the tenders because I wasn't going back home. I wasn't going to drive all over Rockwall and Rowlett with it in my truck and it get all cold and soggy. She gave me the GM phone number and I called him right then and there. It was a loss cause he said the same thing. I know for a fact you don't need the card to refund money. They're several different ways you can refund money. I'm not going to go into detail how the conversation went with the GM, but it was very disappointing, unprofessional and not even taking ownership of their mistakes. I understand this is a chicken fast food joint, but you should still have at least a little professionalism. I was also surprised to see all the food on the floor behind the counter it was so gross. I called my husband told him just to throw away the food and tojust eat cereal. I will NEVER EVER go to a chicken express again. read more

This location is normally just acceptable. My visit today was not acceptable though. I went inside the restaurant to place a to go order. I ordered only 3 items. There were only 2 of the items in the bag when I got home. I know I should check the bag before I leave, but seriously on an order with only 3 items I had confidence that they could get it correct. I called the store to let them know about their error. The employee offered to get the item to me if I came back. Didn't feel like driving 1/2 hour roundtrip to get a $4 item so she offered to refund me the money if I saved my receipt. I'm at a loss as to why she couldn't refund my debit card immediately over the phone, but I guess I'll take that up with them the next time I'm in their vicinity. As most restaurants with numerous complaints they keep a book of all their mistakes for when (if) the customer returns. Hopefully I'll be able to keep a hold of my receipt until the next time I'm at this location. It might be a while until I return as in addition to 1/3 of my order being missing the rolls were stale when my family sat down to eat. read more

I have been going to Chicken Express from day one, I was there the first day they opened and it has just been getting worse and worse has the years go by. I don't know if the staff just doesn't care about the customers or they hate their job or what. There have been times that they get it right and the food is hot and fresh but lately you better check your order the last time I went there they forgot my Jalepenos and I can't eat Fried Chicken without my peppers today the lady who I think is one of the managers gave me my order and recited the order I figured their not busy no need to check I get home no French Fries on both the 3 piece dinners I ordered I called and told the person who answered I was just there I get home and my fries are not with the order they took my name and said next time you come in you have 2 orders of fries coming. Oh really that's it, I mean that's all you can do at least offer a 4 piece chicken strip meal or a two piece chicken. I can't wait for Golden Chicken to open in Royse city that is where I will be and forget about Popeyes they are just as bad as Chicken Express!!! read more
