I hate being the bad guy, especially the bad guy in a baby store, but here I go with my bad self anyway. It's not the most organized place, but they have piles and piles of baby stuff. They're good on the baby stuff. The issue I have is the horrid customer service. So horrid, in fact, it doesn't even exist! I've come in quite a few times looking for baby gifts and each time, the employees have been far too busy gabbing away with one another to bother with assisting any customers. All I hear is "Yip yip, yipyip, yip" non-stop about things not even related to baby stuff. They don't take a break to breathe in between their incessant yips, much less to see if they can assist a potential customer. When I've asked for help, they seemed annoyed that I interrupted their riveting conversation. This has happened to me every single time I've been here and no, I do not look or smell like a wildebeest. I have a credit card and all my teeth. My hair isn't spun from gold, my skin isn't sculpted from the finest imported alabaster, and most importantly I really don't care if the guests at the party enjoyed the Waldorf salad or what made them literally-just-can't-omg-totally-heehee, but maybe that's the problem. The prices are high, yes, but I'd be willing to pay higher prices for convenience since it's in a very accessible location for me. I'm not willing, however, to support an establishment run by a bunch of Beatrices. read more

Amazing selection of all things baby and small kid. How do they cram so much great stuff into such a small shop? Where do I start? Big selection of all the latest strollers, diaper bags, highchairs, baby furniture, gadgets, toys, books, clothes, etc.. Service is helpful. This is the best place in Santa Barbara for baby gifts - you will definitely find something here - at any price point. They also rent baby gear. When I lived in Santa Barbara I would rent from them when my sister visited with her baby, so that she didnt' have to lug so much stuff on the plane. read more

I LOVE the products in this store. The clothes and toys are great quality; many things you can't find in other stores. The owner was very helpful and guided me to exactly what I needed BUT, like some others, I found the other staff to be quite rude. I had to return a carseat that simply did not fit in my car due to my bucket seats and the staff insinuated that I didn't know what I was doing. "We've installed this very seat in small Ferraris... you're the only one with this problem..." I very politely said I could wait for them to show me how to install it correctly; nope too busy. read more

This store has excellent selection on so many things. BUT- the staff is so rude! They are not helpful, seem generally unhappy & act like its a bother to ring up a purchase. Agree with the other reviewers - rude customer service. When you come in, ask a question they simply point to the area without taking you there and showing you the goods. The shopping assistant passed me by twice without asking if she could help with store being virtually empty. I eventually walked up to the cashier and asked her if she could step out and show me around the store which was met with an attitude. The prices are high and the selection doesn't matter due to the attitude of customer service. read more

I absolutely love the product that this store has to offer. I have had several encounters with the owners and they are friendly and knowledgable and extremely helpful! The reason for the 3 stars is because the employees of this establishment seem to have no sense of customer service. A store full of wonderful baby gifts all over.My family I enjoyed walking in and seeing all the great unique customize baby clothes,shoes,and many more to choose from.My husband was looking for Jenga and asked for some help to the young ladies at the register.One checked the computer and the other check the shelf.No luck but they were able to direct us to a place that did and found it with no problem.Thanks ladies! I kept on looking around and found some really cute flower hair clips for a baby shower gift.My friend was surprise to see such beautiful,comfortable and unique flower hair clips.Her newborn looks gorgeous with them on.I do wish to have had a warm welcoming next time.The staff was to busy talking about their personal lives instead of asking me "Let me give you a tour of the store".I would of loved a tour to have seen all the wonderful stuff they had all around read more

Chicken Little has been an amazing resource for me during my pregnancy and after my babies were born. This was my first baby in many years and I didn't know what I needed. I went to Babies r Us twice and was not able to get the help to make the right choices regarding products. Was happy they carried brands that Babies R Us and Target does not carry without having to drive too far. Was very happy with the service we received when purchasing our Uppababy travel system. I would come back here to shop for my son. Agreeing with everyone else though, it is very pricey so be prepared. read more

I will say that from the day we registered at this store before our daughter was born they made us feel like we were family. We have purchased most of the items we have needed for our daughter at this store with the best guidance from Jenny and her staff. They made a point to get to know our family and help us honestly! I Love this place!!!! Been coming here for about a year now, I have a 15month. The owner and staff are just the best. I'm very ignorant about lots of things being a new father. They really take time to answer any questions I have and their advice has proven to be spot on. For the size of the shop, everything they stock is really cool. It always satisfies a cool unique gift for all the birthday parties I have to go to now. They have even wrapped presents for me that I didn't buy there! Also they have recommended me to other places if they didn't have exactly what I wanted which means a lot showing that they are not greedy and my best interests are on their mind. I get the feeling the owner really loves the business she's in and always radiates how important you are to her as a customer. I feel good spending my money here compared to like Amazon or a chain store. read more

I wish I could do 3.5 stars.... The people who work there are amazing!!! They go out of their way to make sure you have a pleasant shopping experience.. They have an amazing clothing section for all age groups and their toy selection is fantastic. When it comes to infants products in terms of different brands for breast pumps, bathtubs, Heath care, formula mixers etc they only have one or two brands.... They are great in selection of strollers and car seats... Overall when creating a baby registry you will find everything you need but maybe not much choice in brands for some things.... But I mostly registered at Buy Buy Baby and Pottery Barn. Why because of their prices... I get this is Santa Barbara, and they have a monopoly when it comes to baby registries but they are usually anywhere from 20-40 percent more expensive than other stores... And they refuse to price match.... That's a huge problem for parents... Having children is a constant drain on your bank account and you want to be able to afford things that they need and things that will make them happy.... Why would I spend $30 more for the same item I can get at other stores.. The real issue is I want to give the store my money!!! I want to shop at locally owned stores instead of a corporate brand.. And maybe that's why their prices are higher.... But when you are on a budget it's hard to explain the added cost... Especially when you have an infant and they need so much stuff...I wish they could be more competitive in pricing.... And I will not spend the kind of money they are asking me to spend on bigger ticket items... And I am truly sorry for that! read more

On multiple occasions I have found the staff at Chicken Little to be very rude. I agree that they have the best selection for a local store, but the staff (owners) at SB Baby are soooo much more helpful and pleasant. I will support them from now on, and will not be going back to Chicken Little. The staff there needs to learn how to treat customers. read more

I have visited a few baby stores in the Santa Barbara area but none have come anywhere close to being as helpful as Chicken Little. I was very fortunate to have the owner, Jenny, help me. She is a wealth of information! She has even gone to the trouble of ordering a glider that I asked about just so I can compare it to others she has in the store. Chicken Little carries the products ranked highest through customer reviews and safety. This store has been here in Santa Barbara forever and I have always been to be so helpful and informative, today will forever stand out as such a sweet experience with them. As I was wrapping my sons gift which I had picked up from chicken Little weeks ago and putting in new batteries I realized it was defective and when I called the owner she quickly found a new toy, put battery's in it, wrapped it and had it already for me to pick up! I'm not sure what I'd do living in SB with a newborn (who is now 3) and another on the way without chicken little. We don't have many options in SB in regards to baby and kids gear so although the prices are usually high, they are generally ready and willing to help as much as possible which means so much as a new mom. I always get a friendly welcome upon entering the store which means a lot too. I recently bought a new car seat and compared the price to Amazon and the price was the same which was a pleasant surprise because I assumed they over priced most items. I think now that they price based on the particular brands and just carry more expensive brands. This review is long overdue! I have been a customer at Chicken Little since we were pregnant with my now 9 year old son. Jennifer and her team are the best. They always have the best selection and best advice. They are my go-to store for baby gifts and birthday gifts. I get overwhelmed in big-box stores and while shopping online might be convenient, Chicken Little provides a personal experience that other places lack. It is nice to know that there are still some good, old fashioned, local stores out there with excellent customer service that you can rely on. After 10 years, I see the same smiling faces every time I go in. And they gift wrap!! That alone makes it worth the trip downtown. A quick example of how awesome they are... Last week I needed a last minute birthday gift. I didn't have time to get downtown, but my husband was on his way home from work. I called the store and talked to April. I told her my budget, the age of the child and what we were looking for. It was wrapped and waiting for my husband to pick up within 20 min! Chicken Little is fun to visit, but we rarely buy very much there. The prices are just so high! They carry beautiful and I'm sure very high quality baby and kids clothes, but it's just ridiculously priced ($52 for a onesie?!). That being said, they do carry one of my favorite lines of kids shoes (Tsukihoshi), but I have to wait for them to go on sale or get them online. The staff is hit and miss, sometimes great and very helpful, other times standoffish and almost rude. They do have a wide selection of toys for all age ranges, though again, the pricing is sometimes considerably higher than what feels right; however, they are very kind with allowing kids to play with things, and they are generous with allowing mothers to nurse in their big chairs in the back (so comfy!) and use their changing table and bathroom. All in all, a good experience, just wish it was more affordable for the average person. read more

Love finding cute and fun baby stores on my travels. And oh what a gem this place is chicken little is by far on my top 10 list. Will travel to Santa Barbara just to shop here. I gave only 4 stars for the simple fact of reading some of the other complaints about the people working behind the counter. I was greeted by the staff in a friendly manner which was great and they seemed more than friendly. I picked up a few items and they held it at counter while I still shopped but then when it came to check out I felt like I was bothering the 2 girls personal conversation. I stepped away for a minute picked up another item to purchase and then had to ask to be checked out. So it did make me feel a little not wanted. I would have given 5 stars since I love this cute little store but feel the need to hopefully open the eyes of management to have there help carry on there conversations elsewhere when customers are ready to check out. Other than this I think this is a great baby store and I will be back. Hopefully I can revise to a 5 star. Love chicken little! read more
