As you walk in you're immediately greeted with a welcome and today's specials. Staff is honest and makes great suggestions. "To go" materials are easily accessible cause you can't really finish your meal (I mean you can, but you better carve out some time for a nap!). They offer catering for celebrations, parties, graduations, or anything you could think of! Place was very clean, and comfortable. While every bbq place in KC offers their own spin, many of which are great, this place just hits better!! It just feels like a small town bbq spot that is hidden; like a speak-easy of BBQ! Picture below is their 2 meat combo with 2 sides (ribs, burnt ends, cheesy corn and tallow fries) $26.

For my sides, I got Mac and cheese, cheesy corn and potato salad. Turkey sandwich was good, per le bf. It had a good smokey flavor and wasn't dry! My brisket was also quite moist with minimal fatty parts, which is what I prefer. Sausage was ok, had to really chew into it. What I'm most disappointed about is the ribs. The ribs were good, but for almost $20, I got 3 pieces. They stated for the ribs plate, you'd get about 3 or 4, depending on the weight, but it would be nice to note that down somewhere that when paying $20, expect 3 pieces. Ive gotten double that and about the same price at other bbq spots, hence my disappointed and surprised when opening the container. Mac and cheese had huge shell noodles, which was cool but on the watery side. Potato salad was decent, got the job done but a little bland. Sauces are also on the tangy side, and if you're a sweet bbq sauce gal like me, it wasn't hitting the spot. Overall was nice giving a try, but will prob be going elsewhere for my bbq needs!

The sauce? I would want more of a classic KC style sauce that is thick and coats the meat, but the flavor of the ribs makes up for it. Pair it with your favorite sauce and it's a 10/10.

I've found our new favorite restaurant for our weekly BBQ fix at J's BBQ! This was my second visit…read morein three weeks, and I can't rave enough about the food, ambiance, and service. My first trip was with my teenage son who loves ribs. We went for their unbeatable Wednesday/Saturday $18 full rack rib special. We shared the ribs and still had plenty left to take home. The meat was tender, smoky, and perfectly cooked. The BBQ beans were outstanding with just the right balance of smokiness and sweetness, and the seasoned crinkle-cut fries were addictive. This past weekend I brought the whole family of five. We're longtime regulars at KC Joe's, so I was a little nervous about a potential mutiny , but everyone loved it! My wife's face lit up the moment we walked in. She said it felt like a cozy restaurant we'd stumble upon while on vacation. The atmosphere is casual and welcoming with plenty of comfortable booths, warm lighting, and that perfect smoky BBQ aroma that hits you right when you enter. I went with the sausage and brisket combo, and it easily holds its own against most of the BBQ I grew up eating in Texas. One child ordered the kid's hot dog meal, and it was one of the best hot dogs I've tasted. Another got the brisket "Sloppy Mess" sandwich, and my wife had the shredded pork sandwich. Every single plate was a hit, and the whole family agreed we've found a new favorite. The owner was incredibly friendly and took the time to chat with us about how he opened the restaurant. It's always great to see that kind of passion! My only feedback is that I wish they stayed open a bit later. They close at 7pm on Sundays and 8pm the rest of the week. With a 20-minute drive from Overland Park and a family of five to wrangle, we could roll up right around closing time. A little extra time would make it perfect which I anticipate will happen the more people discover them. All in all, J's BBQ has officially earned a regular spot in our weekly rotation. If you're in the area and craving quality BBQ in a family-friendly setting, do yourself a favor and check it out!

I visited them in SW Olathe after checking their social media for upcoming dates and locations. My brisket combo ($11.00) included a brisket sandwich, one side and a canned drink or bottled water. I added a second side ($2.00). The sandwich had a generous quantity of tasty, smoked, lean brisket on a fresh bun. I was surprised to see they did not offer baked beans, but their flavorful potato salad was a stellar substitute. The cole slaw was also first-rate. Two BBQ sauces were available upon request - original and hot. Both were very good and nicely complemented the brisket. I found the service at the window to be friendly, cheerful and efficient with only a two-minute wait for my order. The owners are a couple who operated an award winning food truck in Phoenix for 11 years, so they certainly know what they are doing. They recently moved to the KC area to be near their grandkids. Their slogan is "That's how we do it, son." Overall, excellent!

They offer tasty BBQ at a reasonable price with great service. There was already a line of customers as they opened the service window in Stilwell on the first day of their 2021 season. The line moved quickly, and my order was ready in about three minutes. The regular size pulled pork sandwich had a generous amount of tasty, moist meat while the generous amount of beans was just okay, with nice pieces of BBQ meat mixed in. I especially liked the cole slaw, which was crunchy, chewy, fruity, and flavorful. My order also included complimentary pickle spears. Not bad for $10.57. The staff were welcoming, efficient, and thankful - clearly a first class operation. Overall, very nice for the price.

I purchased the pulled pork, the pulled chicken, the sliced brisket and the smoked turkey for my family on Sunday. Hands-down, our entire family said it's the best barbecue we've ever had. And trust me we've eaten a lot of barbecue. We even felt it is BETTER than most of the well known Kansas City bbq chains. The brisket is tender and the smoked turkey is unbelievably moist!!! It takes a good cook to make a decent turkey that isn't dry. If you have not tried this wonderful food truck, I say DO IT!! You will not be disappointed.
