The Americano is pretty good, and the daily specialty blend can be as well, but there seems to be a little bit of a tendency to keep it around longer than it should be kept before brewing a new batch. Popped in here for a quick lunch while I was at an event at the convention center. Super cute, spacious, and a pretty large menu! I ordered a cup of seafood gumbo with bread and got some freshly made beignets to go. Food came out quickly, was tasty and hot, and the service was friendly. Their coffee looks awesome. 1. The food is typical of downtown, ie generic. At least it is not overpriced. Despite the charming atmosphere and service, you are not eating good food. Same goes for the chocolate cafeteria down the street. Food is very salty, lacks any subtlety, and is obviously out of a bag. 2. Coffee isn't that good either, but it gets the job done and they can do fancy shit with it. 3. Beer selection is really good, and really well priced. This place is a nice comfortable alternative to a smoky dive bar, and you won't be angry at life when you get your bill, unlike at Fiddlers. 4. Service, in my opinion, is the best part of this place. This is a cool little place with great coffee and I'm not a coffee drinker. When I do partake, My husband often asks if I'd like some coffee with my syrup, as I usually ask for 2-3 extra pumps. I had a latte with chocolate, caramel and hazelnut syrup and it was really good! I could barely taste the coffee, which, for me, is a great thing. The shrimp ok boy was okay. The shrimp itself was good. It has a nice flavor and was cooked perfectly. I've spent a ton of time in NOLA, as I have family there, and if I'm being completely honest, the flavor wasn't authentic. I also got the beignets and they were much too dense and doughy for me to actually eat. I'll just get my beignet fix on my next trip to NOLA. Great Cajun Food! If you are in South Bend this is a MUST! Come in order your food and find a place to sit. We had the Cajun Fish Po Boy and the Cajun Shrimp Po Boy. The batter was fabulous! Crispy with the right amount of spice. Soft roll and tasty marmalade. We also split a cup of Jambalaya. It was good. Big chunks of chicken and andouille sausage made it a good hardy jambalaya. Make sure you get an order of beignets. Don't make the mistake we did and order two thinking it was two individual ones. One order has three good sized beignets. No problem though. Now we can enjoy more later. We will definitely be back the next time we are in the area. read more

I was going to the Mishawaka location for a couple months now. In the span of two months I watched the beignet go from large savory pieces of dough to bite-sized squares. And now they've decided to switch out actual cold brew with iced coffee. We can taste the difference, tight wads. If you want to spend $5 on coffee, go to Starbucks. This review is for the basic espresso-based drinks from this place. This is all I had, and shouldn't a coffee-specific place be largely judged on such? After a pretty lackluster experience down the street at Main Street Coffee, this was definitely a step up, hence the 4 stars, though if this were a bigger city with more bean competition there would surely be one less star in my rating. In contrast to the fore-mentioned establishment, the Americano pour was my requested 8oz, rather than 12, for a nice, punchy coffee experience. The pour came out nicely extracted (near 25 sec for those who like the particulars) with a nice crema on top that wafted a deep and pleasant enough nose. The taste was pretty good, especially the lack of burnt notes that were now being cleansed from palate. It was pretty middle of the road for flavor complexity, without any pronounced fruitiness, nuttiness, or lively acidity. It really could have used a bit more acid for a brighter coffee experience. Since Quinn's closed, I'd have to say that this is likely the best choice for coffee in S Bend, even though Indulgence has Intelligentsia-roasted coffees which are usually pretty high up on my coffee liking scale but they somehow fails to deliver their potential. read more

LOVE this place! One of my top favorites! Unique cuisine and an excellent variety (sometimes too many!) Since they've expanded, we've been able to go for lunch without taking too much time. Service could be just a tad bit quicker during lunch. I've had almost everything on their menu and there hasn't been one time I could say it wasn't EXCELLENT!
