Everything Just Right!! I had the steak and eggs. The steak was juicy and flavorful. My breakfast came with hash browns, eggs and pancakes. All of this for less than $20. That's a great deal. My wife had blueberry pancakes. Both of our pancakes were cooked perfectly. I'm a bit of a breakfast connoisseur and I'd give The American Pancake House two thumbs up! Parking lot is rough. Potholes and broken asphalt everywhere, but we heard excellent things about it so we went in. It is EXCELLENT! Inside is clean and updated. Service and food was great! I do not recommend this place AT ALL. owner was rude asking me were I was from after I said that my so called chilaquiles were not what they called chilaquiles, they were more like nachos, I guess he got upset about it. they said they were going to take it off my receipt but didn't. My family stopped here for breakfast during a recent visit to Notre Dame. My wife and I have had breakfast here before but it had been a long time since a prior visit. We stopped by on a Thursday morning and were seated immediately. Our waitress was very attentive and extremely friendly. My wife had a skillet which she couldn't finish based on the size. I had the country fried steak and eggs. Absolutely delicious and fair sized portions. My oldest had strawberry pancakes which he enjoyed. Opted for the short stack which was more than enough with crispy bacon. My youngest opted for chicken fingers from the children's menu which even included soup. I picked at them but just couldn't stomach the strange flavor and uncooked potato strands. Less than 30 minutes later they were no longer in my body. Even the fruit garnish was unpleasant -- over-ripe melon that should have been trashed, not served. My dining partner had one of the hash brown skillets, however as another reviewer pointed out, there was nothing brown about it. Just gooey which potato globs. I hate to say this, but a chain like Cracker Barrel surpasses this place in terms of quality by miles and miles. The server was friendly but never refilled our water.
