    Ribeye steak.

Everything Just Right!! I had the steak and eggs. The steak was juicy and flavorful. My breakfast came with hash browns, eggs and pancakes. All of this for less than $20. That's a great deal. My wife had blueberry pancakes. Both of our pancakes were cooked perfectly. I'm a bit of a breakfast connoisseur and I'd give The American Pancake House two thumbs up! One other thing, we ate there on a game weekend. The place was packed. But they seated us in about 15 minutes. Not too bad. Give them a try!

    Just amazing

I've been a fan for decades! One of the truly great breakfast spots.., the food is delicious and ENORMOUS. We got the Apple Dutch baby, basically an apple pie with pancake crust... so good. And a 4 egg omelette. Each order is more than enough for two meals. This is a must-visit for every trip to South Bend

First time here and wanted a classic breakfast. Breakfast diner. Typical dennys looking joint. But that's where the comparisons stop Full breakfast menu Dutch baby, crepes, French toast, and eggs any way you can think of. The Service was quick and friendly. Menu looks good. Lots of parking Fairly clean Coffee typical diner The Dutch baby was great. But need to add the butter lemon and powdered sugar.

Small town diner feel with tasty food and friendly staff. We visited on a Sunday morning expecting it to be packed with hungry guests. To our surprise we were seated quickly and had our food within 20 minutes of seating. The food tasted fresh and was reasonably priced. Would highly recommend this place to anyone who wants a home cooked breakfast!

It's not fancy but the food is great. Lots of choices besides breakfast food. I had a butcher omelette and it was a teo meal size omelette. Very tasty. The others had various eggs and pancakes. All looked good. Coffee was fresh and our waitress did a good job. One note our party of five had the gratuity already included on the final bill. Solid comfort food.

Oh yeah the Hey Ricky Omelette

A gem of a diner to help forget the bad game from the day before and nurse the hangover too. I liked the snappy line management-- we were seated quickly and enjoyed the excellent service by Ashley. Coffee and waters hit the table in a jif and the food hit the spot. I got the Hey Ricky Mex omelet and loved it! The only knock was toast confusion. Otherwise, a South Bend keeper.

Good prices. Service was fair. Food quality was good. Only drawback was a group of services swearing and speaking too loudly. Will return.

We had friendly and attentive service and the food came out hot and quickly. There is a small patio out front on the sidewalk with three or four tables. My husband said he is going to be dreaming about the peaches and cream French toast for days to come. I also enjoyed the BAART, a riff on the BLT with avocado and arugula. Would definitely return.

This place was bustling!! It seems like a very popular spot! We just had the two of us and were seated at a small two person table between two other close tables - located alongside a long booth bench against the wall that breaks up into individual seating spots. This was totally fine for our breakfast that morning but it's not something I'd prefer if you like your privacy in conversation or otherwise. ;) The service was slow to start but after our waitress came she was mostly attentive the rest of our meal. We ordered 2 coffees. These were stronger and much more delicious than your average "diner cup"!! The staff offered a couple of refills throughout our time. I really loved the simplicity of the menu! There are options with a great variety, but it's still concise and not overwhelming!! Our dishes came out within 10 minutes of ordering, extremely fast and was surprising! My husband ordered the Huevos Rancheros with chorizo and he enjoyed it! The flavors were bold and the plate was pleasing to the eyes except for the avocado which was looked like it was quickly turning. I ordered the Crab Cake Benedict and had super high expectations for this entree!! It looked so beautiful upon arrival but when I began eating I quickly realized the dish was quite cool! My first half came with a well done poached egg which was disappointing. The second piece was cooked perfectly but was also just not very warm. The hollandaise sauce had wonderful flavor, but again, just wasn't warm - it seemed like the dish had maybe been sitting. I think this dish could be outstanding at the right temperature!! The potatoes that accompany this entree were a little dry for my liking but my husband thought they were good!! :) We noticed other tables with special lattes and several parties being served decadent looking sweet breakfast options - those all looked delicious!! There was a super kind and outgoing waitress serving nearby tables, explaining all kinds of special choices, like lovely latte options that were being offered that morning. The way she so kindly described everything sounded delicious but unfortunately our waitress didn't welcome our table with that same level of hospitality. What we saw being ordered by those nearby was met with great happiness when it arrived to them!! :)

Everyone was so kind and hospitable. The restaurant itself was very cozy and I enjoyed being there. As far as food, I loved everything I ate. You drive up to the awning and a valet opens the gates for you to park. We had reservations. It was very crowded. I am told it's not typically that crowded. It was hard to hear it was so loud. Menu is large. Prices are higher. Be ready. I got the large chopped salad. It wasn't that large for $18. I changed out the dressing to ranch because I did not want the garlic salad dressing. Glad I did. The salad was ok. The salami was smokey it added to the veggies. But for the price it was small and disappointing. 2 people got the prime rib sandwich and it was pretty sloppy. It's better to eat with a knife and fork. I was told it was good. The sweet potato fries have cayenne pepper on them. The chopped salad with tofu was also disappointing. The tofu had a weird bbq type sauce. The server was nice and she was fine. The atmosphere is more high scale. Just disappointed in the taste of the food and portion to cost. Cool experience being on campus but you're paying for it.

Walking in, the vibe was more than fine... I'd even say a bit more elevated than a diner, with some charm. The server was welcoming and did get us started quite promptly, with our order taken within 5-10 minutes and coffee on the table 5-10 min later. Everything was downhill from there. An hour passed and we still didn't have our food. The server told us "you're next, it's coming". While something seemed off, we remained patient. Another 15 min go by, nothing. Mind you, unbenownst to the staff, we actually knew another table who arrived and sat down 15 min after us and, while they also waited a while, they finished their meal and left and we still didn't have anything. It's at least an hour and a half later, and we finally said something. Once again, "you're next, it's coming", but this time an added, "he sold your food to someone else". Aka the server either told the truth, and the restaurant made an error, or the server pawned their error on the chef. Food finally started to drop, but the order was certainly not fully accurate. Tolerable, but noticeably not accurate. Missing sides, incorrect orders, and one guest missing their whole order. At this point, we're looking to speak to a manager. The missing omelette meal finally hit the table, looking like it was whipped up in a couple minutes, on a dirty pan (think full yellow with a layer of black and oily grease). Upon cutting it up it was clear that it wasn't fully cooked. I wish I took a photo, but the "owner" took it to examine it herself and was both rude and defensive. Not one apology for any of the above. Forget about any suggestive comps or resolution. The server didn't make any eye contact once it was obvious an error was made. Genuinely, I can understand that mistakes can be made, especially during busy times. But, no excuse for the demeaned of this "owner". I put this in quotes because her behavior and response to the situation is certainly not acceptable. Maybe we had a "miss" experience. Maybe the food and service would be better next time. But due to the response of the "owner" we will not be returning and I would not recommend to anyone.
