This was the worst experience I have ever had at this restaurant. The waitresses were rude and disrespectful to us. Im not sure what happened here but I will never eat here again. The food even tastes different. This place has really gone downhill since I was here 3 months ago. The blond waitress was on her phone the whole time. We had to refill our own coffee. When asked.about the gravy and toast we were missing I was told by the blond waitress to calm down they were cooking it. We waited 5 minutes to get a bowl of gravy and some toast. My best girlfriend and I had another delicious breakfast at Macadoos! I am bummed I forgot to take pictures but I was Hangry lol. We were greeted warmly upon entering the cute little diner and seated within just minutes. Our waitress was very friendly and offered drinks many times throughout our visit. Six years ago I gave them 5 stars. This time I'm giving them 1 star. The eggs were over cooked to the point that they were brown and didn't have cheese, as ordered. The waitress asked if we wanted her to take them back and add cheese to them. Um, no! What good is that going to do to dry burnt scrambled eggs? Took my Mom here after she mentioned how good the food is and the price! We went in and the booths can definitely be tight if you are not a small person. Finally checked this place out after driving past for so many years and boy, what a disappointment. The food was either burnt, bland, or both. My BFF and I went to Macadoo's this morning. She has been there before but I hadn't. The service was great, my food was phenomenal, and one thing I noticed in particular on the menu was how great the prices are! I can't believe a local restaurant can still operate with those prices! I ordered a cappuccino (that wasn't $5) and it was so good. I took a picture, but when my food came (I got a half order of the country skillet) it smelled so good that I forgot to take a picture and just started eating. Great environment. Bad treatment bordering harassment from an employee who was not even working my last and second visit September 21 2021. My daughters dads gf posted a coworkers photo of me on social media publicly- creepy. Then falsified ppo requirements stating I was the servers spouse? First of all we we were there a 6:00 in the morning on a Friday 6/9/2023 maybe 3 tables were being served. Our waitress was beyond rude and condensending. We asked what kind of juice do you have.....she said its on the menu.....i said the menu says "juice" it doesn't say what kind of juice......she was mad and said we have usual juices. Then i asked for a descriptive of the biscuit and gravy Manhattan.....good lord if looks could kill i would be dead. She was super rude and we will not be back. Went to this place on a week day about late breakfast early lunch time. No issues getting seating. Lots of choices on the menu and I was laughing (in a good way) about prices. I literally kept asking my in laws "Is that really the price?" It was $46 for 4 adults and a toddler to eat. I got the peach cobbler pancakes which were on special (not sure if they were on special that day/week/month). I am not a pancake person. I like my proteins and try to go easy on the carbs but when on vacation why not? These were delicious. They had the softest, fluffiest pancake that was so weightless. Then the peaches which were almost glazed? then some granola. I skipped the whipped cream but there was a cream cheese glaze between the stacks. It came with eggs (I got scrambled with cheese) and choice of meat-I got bacon. The bacon was thin, crispy and slightly salty. I only got to eat one piece as one piece was stolen by my toddler. My husband got the biscuits and gravy manhatten. He got the half order. Other food ordered was Kathy's Kombo and the 2 egg, potatoes or fresh fruit with bacon or sausage. This was a better breakfast experience that The Original Pancake house. Service was awesome. The server was on our water and coffee refills, brought out extra items we requested ( ice and napkins). I did not have coffee but they had in addition to half and half: irish cream, french vanilla and hazelnut creamers. I have eaten at this restaurant for well over a decade and until now have been pleased with all aspects of this establishment. Lately I've noticed a disturbing downward trend in the service and quality of food. My wife and I stopped in today at 1:20pm only to be told they have new hours. They now close at 1:30pm instead of 2:00pm. Did you notice I said we were told to go away 10 minuets before the new closing time. Learn how to run a f**kin business. I call to place a pickup order & the girl answers the phone & says "one moment" so I wait & wait , almost 10 minutes goes by. So I hang up & immediately call back hoping they're busy & forgot. I get a message saying the party is busy. How is the party busy if I just hung up? So I decide to drive there. I call the whole way to make sure if there's an opening on the line I get it. What do you know ? I show up & it's hardly busy & the phone is sitting on the counter off of the receiver. So when I confronted the waitress about this she said in a nasty rude tone "Well I'm the only one here." So you thought the appropriate action was to have me sit on hold & be ignored until I hung up ? Assuming I wouldn't show up ? This was today Monday. So whoever that waitress is needs to be dealt with. I've had Macadoo's hundreds of times over the years & im fed up. The food and service is "so so". I've lived in the Mishawaka/South Bend area all of my life and have always heard about how great this restaurant is. I ate here for the first time today and I can honestly say, I wasn't impressed and I guess that's why I can only give them a 3 star rating. I might've given them a 4 if it wasn't for all the hype. Don't get me wrong; the food isn't bad, but it's not great either. It's cheap, and that's it's only benefit. My party of 3 waited for roughly a half an hour before being seated, so I guess this attests to the popularity of this establishment, but I doubt that I'll ever return. I love going to local restaurants when I'm away from home. This is one of my favorite breakfast places in the area! It's very unique that the culture of the restaurant is built around an Irish theme. The customer service was great. Our server was very nice, friendly, knowledgeable, and quick to get us what we needed. My coffee cup never fell below a half cup & my dishes were taken off the table within minutes of being finished. I had the "skinny doo" omelet with pepper jack cheese. Must try! They also feature different specials throughout the month. I had a lemon poppyseed pancake with my omelet and it was a special treat. During my first visit to her hometown she just had to take me to this MacAdoo's place... I am so glad she did. I've been here many times now and every time I get one thing for breakfast... The LA Style French Toast. It is the best French toast I've ever had. No syrup needed because the cinnamon swirl bread comes with a cinnamon-buttery glaze thing that is amazing. I never use it all but its there for your pleasure. I anticipate eating it every time I'm heading into town because we usually go there one of the mornings. The joint is a little small and so on busy mornings it can be a bit cramped while you wait. Still, the seating is fine and you don't have someone's butt in your face while you eat. The staff is friendly and efficient. My girlfriend always enjoys her food here too. I have had a few of their sides and between my experience and how people appear around me, the menu is delightful. They also have a breakfast burrito type challenge which offers patrons to eat a $20 dollar meal and if they are able to eat the item, its free. Many people have failed but you can also see the photos of those who have lived to survive the challenge. All in all, I love coming here. We had our first visit to Macadoo's over the weekend for breakfast. The place was packed but we were able to get two seats at the small counter. The menu is standard breakfast fare and you notice their "almost famous biscuits and gravy" mentioned numerous places throughout the restaurant. We opted for coffee and our server enticed us with their $0.95 cinnamon special which we split to start. It was huge, but light and not as dense as some cinnamon rolls. The glaze was overly sweet. My fiance loves biscuits and gravy, but has not been able to find one he absolutely loves. He ordered the Tim's Taster which had a half order of biscuits and gravy, home fries with cheese and gravy on top, sausage patties. two eggs and a side of toast...definitely on the heavy side, but he said it was pretty good. I ordered their skillet, which did not have a description on the menu. I was expecting the standard breakfast skillet with potatoes, eggs, cheese, etc. It's my fault for not asking what was included. The plate arrived covered in sausage gravy of which I am not a fan. The plate consisted of a layer of home fries with cheese, scrambled eggs (which were cooked perfectly) topped with two huge sausage patties and covered in gravy. Fortunately I was able to scrap the gravy off. The portion was huge so if it sounds appealing, I would recommend a half order. Prices were reasonable - our breakfast for two was less than $20. Since I was at work I ordered it to go and hit the road to my first appointment. On the road I popped it open to start on the bacon. Place has really went downhill. About a month ago, I ordered carry out breakfast for my family. The gal that took my order over the phone seemed really ticked that she had to take my order. I was like, maybe she's just having a bad day. It happens. Hubby walks over to get our food, brings it home and the order is wrong. Was missing something we of course paid for and one of the meals was wrong. I message Macadoo's on FB and I assume the owner is the one who wrote back to me. Anyway, she offers me a gift card and tells me she will contact me when the card is ready. Never contacts me, so I message her to let her know and she ignores my message. So, my dumb bum decides to order breakfast from there again. Hubby brings the order home and my son's French toast has all this hair and crunchy bits on it as if someone dropped it on the floor and threw it in a to go box anyway. See what happens when you complain? I learned my lesson though and will never give Macadoo's my business again. I know they get busy and have a pretty solid following, but those of us who only spend our money there once or twice a month don't matter. However, when you offer someone a gift card, make sure they actually get the gift card instead of ignoring them. And when someone complains, don't mess with their food.
