When I tried to express my concerns to the manager about the way one of her employees had spoken to me, she barely made eye contact and brushed me off with a muttered "okay" before continuing about her business... no apology, no interest, no accountability. Nothing. As I turned to leave, I overheard her tell the cashier that it's okay to speak to customers like that. So I returned to the register, handed back my items, and said I wouldn't be shopping at a place that treats people this way. Instead of apologizing or acknowledging the issue, the cashier chimed in, and stated "I don't like your attitude". Then the manager finally lifted her head to say something to me stating that I was the one who was being rude. While doing the return the cashier was the one being rude to me and she visibly frustrated when she was asking me for my email, name, and last name for the return. It felt like the entire team tried to gang up against me. I had been nothing but polite from the moment I walked in, asking for help respectfully, thanking staff, and even apologizing if I was in anyone's way. The real issue started at the fitting room, where the employee got visibly irritated and snapped at me and the person I was with for standing in the "wrong" spot and stating we were in her way. She was the one who told the person I was with to sit where she was sitting! I was simply trying on clothes and showing it to her. I also witnessed the employee speaking to another customer with the same rude tone, which is why I initially tried to bring it to the manager's attention. I also told the manager that I understand things may get busy but there's a way to convey your message to customers. This store clearly doesn't take customer feedback seriously and has no respect for shoppers. I hate to bring race into this, but we were the only other Asian customers in the store at the time... and given how differently we were treated, it's hard not to feel that this played a role in how we were spoken to and dismissed. I was so excited because I really love shopping at an Old Navy store more than GAP. Change is always amazing at Bay Terrace...don't you think!?! This would be the most convenient location as I can just walk over from my house. The other locations are a bit far like Skyview Center which I would need to hop on a bus and Triangle Plaza which I would need my dad to drive me there. I was so amazed and wow with the renovations at this location. Definitely more vibrant and colorful than the depressing GAP layout. I have been a fan of Old Navy for over a decade. I love their tank tops to pajama pants to sweaters to cardigans to athletic wear to jewelry to handbags to etc...you get the point! Every year around my birthday I will buy one to three new bikini sets so believe me I own WAY too many lol The more you spent with their credit card the more dollar amounts of rewards you get back! I then held up 9 fingers and asked if that was their hours and she proceeded to look at me- ignore me- then walk to the back of the store to continue what she was doing. She then came back to the register and refused to make eye contact. Really? The courteous thing to do would approach the door and just say "I'm sorry, we are closed." I looked at the hours after this exchange to see that they indeed closed at 8pm. (Thanks Yelp) Moral of the story. Be nice. I don't care that it's the end of your work day - just pay customers with respect.
