As a loyal Chipotle diner, I was skepicle when this place opened. I was shocked however to find burritos that were higher quality then Chipotle and tasted better. I also enjoyed the free chips with their great tasting salasa. The atmospher and decoration is very creative and is a relaxing place to get a quick bite for lunch. read more

I heard a few things about this place, all posi, so while out running some errands we decided to give it a shot. we both got hard tacos (hard to mess up) with the pulled beef. i was a bit concerned that there wasn't ground beef, as i was sorta looking for plain old tacos, however, i was pleasantly surprised with the quality. it was tender and tasted great. for a side, i had the black beans with bacon underneath the white rice. i was a little bummed there was no juice selection, something better for you than soda but more tasty than water (which i refuse to pay for anyway), but we both had a bottle of the mexican soda - me apple, my wife pineapple - both were good. the staff was ultra friendly, there was a girl walking around with dark hair, cleaning stuff up constantly. she was also rather pretty ; ) the price was high for not including a drink, i think total it cost us $19 and change. read more

Okay so let me start by saying in a born & raised Southern Californian. You just CANNOT find traditional, by that I mean done the RIGHT way, fish tacos in New Jersey, or most of the east coast for that matter. This place NAILS it. A traditional San Felipe style fish taco, that is friend fish, cabbage, sour cream, hot sauce, cheese on a CORN TORTILLA!! It was, on the spot good. I live 50 miles from here, I will be back!!! The only other place that does it is El Swell (seasonal) on LBI and these tacos beat El Swells by miles, they're excellent. Very surprised by the positive reviews. I guess we might have caught them on bad days. We love all sorts of Mexican type food, and were just horribly disappointed by the place. I didn't even want to go back a second time but we did, and it was just as bad. Bland and tasteless. And, for some reason, watery (you order nachos or something and there's actual water that pools at the bottom). We stuck to basic things like burritos and tacos. Nothing worked. I wouldn't eat here again for free. Comparable to school cafeteria food. Given the shortage of good local options I guess try it out once. If you think it's nasty I wouldn't give it a second shot, it won't be better. (Note: We were last there months ago, so maybe they improved since, don't know). read more

Delicious food, locally owned, great service! I ordered veggie tacos which came with guacamole & I love that they don't skimp on it either! there age just 2 things, #1 is if you use yelp for the directions you may end up in the neighborhood in front of someone's house behind the restaurant! I ordered for pickup and went through drive thru. Everything was bagged and ready to go, all I ordered was a salad and a side of guacamole for my chips. Went to work and when I went to eat my salad on break there was no fork to eat it with. All I could do was go for the chips and they were stale. Must have been yesterday's leftovers. So beyond disappointed, so I called to speak with the manager so this doesn't happen to anyone else, but I was told she was out. I let the person I was speaking with know and she didn't seem empathetic to my situation and just said she's not sure what to do about that. Hopefully they correct it. Fish Tacos were amazing!!! Can't believe this is a chain. It tasted so fresh and so authentic. Price was cheap, there's reward systems as well. The theme of the restaurant is a surf shop, which was also different. In addition to everything I appreciate they had fresh lime to put on your food and also fresh cilantro. My family has been eating at Chido for ten years. We moved close by two years ago and now go at least a few times a month. We love the feel, the food, and the convenience, but I am giving it three stars because of their assembly line system. My family of four pretty much orders the same things every time we visit and the menu has not changed much since we started going. The system they use has not changed at all. One person works at the hot side, one at the cold, and one at the register. About 90% of the time our order is wrong or extremely inconsistent. Because I know the menu so well and have been going there so long, I can recite my order to the cashier or I know what to look for when they are about to make mistakes. I have gone home without things or waited in line extra because quesadillas or empanadas weren't made. I have had someone else's food put into my bag. I have not gotten kids cups with kids meals or chipotle sauce with the avocado app. It is getting worse and really annoying. I love the convenience and not having to cook, so I continue to go, but I actually dread it because I know the workers will be confused and get things wrong. They also never give me a receipt. I've probably been charged wrong countless times as well. Usually I am so annoyed by the ordering and paying experience, I cannot wait to get out of there and don't say anything. With all the pandemic hiring issues, maybe it is time to update the system. Why can't the person starting your order plug it into the POS system?!?! My wife and I ate here this afternoon for lunch. It's a clone of Moe's Southwest Grill, only people don't yell at you when you've entered through the door. Another thing of note that sort of hit me after I was halfway through the meal, it felt like we were listening to the soundtrack of the movie "50 First Dates (which is awesome!) The food was hit or miss, My wife had the Fish Tacos, piled high with cabbage and cilantro. They were better than what I ordered, but I think they'd benefit from picked cabbage instead of traditional, boring raw cabbage. I'm a big fan of Chido Burrito. My wife and I visit frequently to eat lunch, usually in the form of tacos or Nachos. Let's face it. All Mexican and Mexi-cali food (which is what this is) is all of the same ingredients just in different arrangements. But they have good quality ingredients and their portions are generous. I usually share one of their mountainous veggie nachos with one other person and we are both very full by the end. My wife swears they have the best liquid cheese in town and I'm inclined to agree. Even when the line is long it moves fast the staff have always been friendly. The seating area is fun and comfortable with a couple of large "palapas" (giant grass-topped umbrellas or open sided huts) that are fun to sit under. I was introduced to this restaurant several years ago by people who had frequented it on regular basis and I really liked it. So, when I was in the area by chance with a co-worker during lunch hour it was an easy decision. I had the chicken burrito which came with a side of chips. My co-worker had a chicken bowl. We also ordered a side of chips. Unfortunately, the chips were fresh but not salty. I like salty chips. We had our choice at the salsa bar of several varieties of salsa. We chose the medium and it had some nice heat to it and tasty. My burrito was fully stacked and busting at the seams with chicken, beans, rice, cheese, and salsa. Most impressive, the tortilla didn't break or get soggy. My co-worker enjoyed her chicken bowl. There is a nice soda bar with free refills. When we were looking for a table to sit down and eat, we kept on walking around and looking for a clean table. Several of them hadn't been wiped down yet. We found a clean one. Prices are very reasonable and service was friendly. Plenty of parking and the bathrooms are clean. read more

I love this place! I'm there a lot to say the least. With being vegan this place is perfect with a lot of different simple vegan options. But lately the service has been lacking. I ordered a pick up order about a week ago and clearly stated no meat and chicken was put on my salad, luckily I checked it and was able to go back. Tonight I ordered for pick up and specified guac and salsa on the side but it was smothered over my salad definitely not on the side. About once a year I'll give this place another try to see if anything has gotten better. NOPE. The kids that work there still can't roll a burrito or fill tacos properly. It's always too loose and they never drain enough water from the beans. So everything turns into a soggy mess when you go to eat it. Being passed off to 3 different kids working the "assembly line" doesn't work too well because they aren't paying attention to who has what order. They would rather be hugging each other and talk openly about who doesn't want to work today. I stumbled upon Chido Burrito while working down in Northfield. As a mexican food fan, I immediately decided to try Chido. Chido is a "fast food" mexican restaurant. However, the ingredients are fresh! There is an amazing salsa bar with a lot of options. The shredded beef is amazing. I usually get the beef tacos in a hard shell. When Moe's first popped up in May's Landing I thought they were pretty tasty (tofu tacos) but after eating at Chido when they opened, well, I haven't been to Moe's since. I always get the chicken tacos with a side of guacamole. Off season, there have been some inconsistencies but I would still rate them a four at their lowest, so pretty excellent either way. I love their salsa bar, decor, and everything about them. My husband often gets the steak tacos and I've also had the salad which is really good too. I love the citrus vinaigrette. Never having had, I found myself in need of dinner before a movie. The line was huge, which in itself was a good sign, and their excellent staff moved everyone right along. When I saw the size of the tortilla they were heating I had thought they were making me a pizza. It was HUGE. They packed it full of topping until it was as long and thick as my forearm. This is fast food garbage. All I wanted was a steak burrito and I am so sorry I did not go to chipotle. The steak tasted like dog turd, the beans made the burrito so soggy it might as well have been soup, and the Queso tasted like cold glue. Hands down this is my family's favorite place to grab a quick Tex Mex meal! Portions are generous, ingredients are fresh, food is made to order, and their prices are good. The burritos are huge and often I take half of it home. I prefer the chicken, but my family enjoys the steak or fish. Kids meals are also good, come with the main item, chips, and a churro. Things I love: the food is FRESH, the chips are delicious and crisp and not stale like other similar restaurants, the portions are generous, the food is delicious. Things I don't love: the staff are hit or miss- I've had fabulous service and friendly conversation, but I've also had the complete opposite. I'm not sure there's a focus on customer service. Also- sometimes the service isn't very fast as it would be at Chipotle. I've seen staff walking around and not helping. Won a gift card to this place. I was always hesitant to try it. I'm a die hard Chipotle and Qdoba fan....but none of those for about 30 miles. I have been to a few privately owned burrito joints that rocked my world ...but those where in Cali...home of five star Mexican restaurants on practically every corner (across from the Starbucks on every corner. Lol...I crack myself up.) The last knock off I tried was Moe's and got deathly food poisoned. It's one of life's mysteries how that place hasn't closed yet. So I gave this place a chance. I tried the fish tacos on 2 occasions and they were delicious! Delighted to see how fresh the ingredients were and came with fresh lime to squeeze in top. The guacamole and chips were pretty good too. The salsas were meh. I like fresh house-made chunky salsa and unfortunately almost all hispanic restaurants make the watery over-blended crap. Just because its spicy....doesn't make it great! If I only wanted spice....there is this wonderful thing in a bottle called "hot sauce" to meet that need. A sign of a great Hispanic-influenced restaurant is definitely house made chunky salsa! Other things that make a great Hispanic restaurant are house made chips and thin tortillas and a killer margarita made with freshly squeezed sour mix. Don't worry I haven't found this in NJ yet. Its very firmly okay and has this really wierd, almost fictional feel to it. Its as if youre a backround character in a ninties teen movie or sitcom. This feeling persists through every aspect of the resturant aside from the salsa which seems to be original and really good. The food was delicious despite my fear that I walked into an episode of the twilight zone. The food is very fairly priced for the shore and the place is very kid friendly. The menu itself is limited but it gives you a lot of options, kind of like a chipotle only not. Also churros, cheap, long, warm, wonderful churros. I would give this place more stars, after all, the God is really pretty good. But the staff seems genuinely annoyed that they have customers to serve.
