I've been to Chipoltle's in CA and in different area in NJ and I like Chido's SOOO much more! Everything is Fresh! Fresh! Fresh! Maybe because they do so much business. The staff behind the counter are always nice (we LOVE Dana and Erica in particular) and the salsa bar is really great, too. You have 4-5 choices of salsa ranging from mild to hot and sides of lemons, peppers and limes. Hubby and I always split the grilled fish burrito (because they're so big) and they cut it for us and put it on separate dishes for us. Beware that if they've been super busy, you may need to wait for a table to be cleaned off, but we haven't run into that in the winter. Our son gets the steak fajitas and our other son always gets steak tacos. No one leaves hungry and we've never had a bad meal. When I am in the Jersey Shore area for work, Chido Burrito is required dining at least once. Similar to other Mexican grills (chipotle, moe's and qdoba) but better. The meat choices are plentiful along with more topping options. Hard to beat loading up a perfect burrito and then finishing it off with a squeeze of lime and fresh cilantro. The shredded beef burrito is my usual but the fish tacos are also a nice change of pace. I also like the fact that there is always a surf video up on the big screen. What a surprise! We were passing through, did a quick yelp search for a quick lunch spot. Viewed the menu and called and placed an order for pick-up, without ever having tried or heard of this place. So... it wasn't bad, and given the lack of other, similar options in the area, I can understand the appeal. If you can't get to a Chipotle, Qdoba, or California Tortilla, then there's Chido Burrito. I went with family who live in the area, and if they suggested we go again, I wouldn't fight it, but it wouldn't be a place I suggest. As other reviewers have mentioned, the meat is pretty bland. I do appreciate that they have self serve salsa!! That's a big deal considering they give you complimentary chips with your meal. Other places, the chips and salsa come with their own price tag. But the meat was really bland. I did a steak and shrimp combo, and the shrimp may have had a little lime grilled flavor, but the steak?? Other fast food chains' "flame grilled" meat patties have more taste. We ended up having to wait for the shrimp to finish cooking, and I'm grateful for the wait! The young man who started our order should have been wearing a "I give zero f*cks" t-shirt. He seemed exasperated that we were willing to wait for the shrimp to grill (C'mon; it's shirmp... 5 minutes max!). I had the grilled fish tacos, super yummy & messy. I used the medium salsa, very tasty with a bit of spice. They need to upgrade to better quality napkins, as they disintegrated with each use. Cute atmosphere, did a cute job retrofitting a previous restaurant. The staff still seems a bit confused, I stood under the "order here" line and a guy walked up next to me and they waited on him. My daughter wanted nachos and that seemed way too confusing for the food prep/order person, as she wanted ingredients on the side and fresh cheese melted on the chips (which they said they do not do). So good!! I love Mexican/Spanish style food, but for some reason I drove past this place tons of times with no thought to ever stop there. But one day recently, a friend took me there and ever since then I have been hooked! I live in Galloway, and I will drive all the way (15 minutes each way) to Northfield just to get it to go! The ingredients taste fresh and they are not cheap with the portions! The burritos are huge and they cost $9, plus they give you lots of tortilla chips for no extra cost. The line is massive during lunch time because so many people go on their lunch breaks, but the line moves quick and it's so worth the wait! The staff is very cheerful and friendly! I love the traditional grilled fish tacos! My complaint isn't about the food, but about who I assume was the manager. I don't think it's in good taste for her to be filling her vape in a place that customers can see. She was right by where the drive thru would be. I could see this from where I was standing to pay. Why don't I come here more often for lunch? "fast" food but everything made right in front of you with some great healthy options. I spent about ten bucks including drink and was only able to eat about half- huge portion of rice, beans and veggies with chips and guacamole. Everything was great- definitely recommend for some fresh, fast Mexican lunch options. I was born in NJ and then spent 26 years in Los Angles California. I lived in Latin neighborhoods and many of my friends fed me authentic Mexican food. Since I moved home to NJ I miss my burritos and Mexican food like I missed a real hoagie and steak sandwich. Well the burritos here are very good and fresh. I would have to say they are very good and as close to a real burrito you can find on the east coast. Will make this a regular visit when driving to the shore. read more

My first experience with Chido burrito and I'd say I'm hooked. It's a similar concept to a chipotle or moes, both of which I'm a fan of. Line moved fast which was a plus. I had a steak burrito and the steak was flavorful and tender, just slightly overcooked for what I like but I attribute that to it being in a steam table. The hot sauce there is good but not as hot as I like it to be, I'm a chili head for sure. The only real improvements they could make I would say is to make their own tortillas for the tacos/burritos and maybe a bit larger of a veggie selection. I eat here almost every week with coworkers and it's always a great meal. Plenty of options for "toppings", great mix of salsas, and good portion sizes especially for the burritos. Wow. . . I don't know what the other people are talking about. Maybe their experience was lack luster because they had just opened. But I could eat there every day. If you have ever been to Moe's southwest grill, it is alot like that. But one difference - FISH TACOS!!!! Admittedly it is the only thing I've tried on their menu the last 6 times I've been there but they are absolutely phenonomal. I remcomend them to everyone I talk to. You can get the fish (tilapia - not mystery fish) grilled or crispy and prepared the traditional way with a southwest coleslaw or however you want. They use all fresh ingredients and prepare it right there for you. They are quite busy and it seem's as though every time I go, it is getting busier. Which in my mind they must be doing something right. That is probably the only downside, but believe me, it is well worth it. If you're picking up, I recomend to call ahead. The other review complained about the price being almost 10 dollars. Well I don't know if they've been bring bag lunches for the last couple of years but even a cheesesteak and soda will cost you 8-10 bucks these days, and this is a night and day difference. I'm so glad that we have a place around here like this now. A friend of mine lives in California and always talks about the fish tacos there. Well, I think I've found my goto mexi joint. It's a really cool atomospshere with surfboards hanging all over the place and a tiki theme. I'll stop now, but serisoulsy, if you're in need of a meal - check this place out. This place is similar to chipotle and Q'Doba. In the northfield area your only choice is Chito Burrito -- and it sucks. I've gone twice and ordered the equivalent to a steak bowl at Chipotle. The steak had NO SEASONING other than maybe salt. The roasted peppers were horrible. And to boot -- they added the tortilla chips (huge ones) on top of the bowl ... as if I can eat it that way. They looked at me funny when I asked them to put it elsewhere. The price is very high for what you get -- you get more food at both Chipotle and Q'Doba, and pay less for it. I will not eat there again!!!!!!! Its a rip-off. Finally the one bad thing is that in the are there isn't a place like chipotle or Q'Doba (closest is Moe's ... whose food I don't care for but I rate Moe's higher than Chito Burrito)!!!! Found out about this place a couple weeks ago and was eager to try as I'm a huge chipotle fan but there is none near here. The inside gave off a chill vibe with surfer decor and friendly staff which by itself made me want to come back. The assembly line style burrito making process was reminiscent of chipotle with a tortilla warmer and a wide variety of fillings. I got a vegetarian burrito with rice, black beans, corn, lettuce,etc and guacamole (which they don't charge extra for if you get the veggie burrito!)They really load the stuff in there, too! I don't like too much guacamole in my burritos so she gave me extra on the side and it was chunky fresh and delicious. The burrito ended up being pretty big and then she put tortilla chips in the bag at no extra cost which went perfectly with the guacamole. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because peppers are my favorite part of the burrito and they only had one variety(red) which I'm not too keen on. I have eaten here before and do enjoy the food, however, was in there with a friend for lunch on Wednesday and a couple came in with their pit bull puppy. The had the puppy on the counter and everyone was oohing and ahhing over the puppy. The couple then sat in the restaurant and ate with their puppy. Yes the puppy was cute, but a restaurant is NO place for an animal. Not one person working there said anything, just enjoyed the puppy. read more
