The TR Bowl is no joke, the protein portion alone is enough for several people to share (see photo). I've honestly never seen a restaurant be this generous with their protein. The Birria Egg Rolls with consomé are bursting with flavor. One bite and you'll immediately understand why they stand out and what I am talking about. The Birria Ramen arrives in an insanely large bowl and includes three tacos, making it an excellent value. Don't skip dessert!!! Do yourself a favor and get the churrios. Happy to find a good Mexican spot on LBI! Staff was super friendly but space inside is not very big, although there are a couple tables just outside to eat at. We had the fish tacos, which were fresh and full of flavor and also surprisingly not lacking in quantity, which is something I feel like I typically struggle with when order fish tacos. They have some of the best carne asada tacos I have ever had. The steak is so flavorful and the tortillas are fresh. The service is always super fast. I am a lover of all things when it comes to Mexican cuisine. I must say this was a very authentic location that had more traditional dishes than most. Also the atmosphere was fun, with interesting decor as characters was hidden in signs and around the restaurant in various places. The service was good with the server checking on us regularly. However I was surprised at the amount of food you got for your money. It was very generous portions and I was able to have another full meal the next day. Generous portions of rice, beans, guacamole, and pico. The amount of Al Pastor topped was more than enough and you can even order double meat if you want! They also leave you with bottles of crema, salsa verde and salsa rojo. I was more than filled and more than satisfied. Also ordered their Paisa bowl which had homemade chicharones, plantains and carne asada. Great change of flavors! I yelped to find a place near my job bc I wanted tacos for Taco Tuesday. Well, Taqueria Rendon was at the top of the list based on the reviews I read. So, I decided to give it a try. This place is located in a strip mall, but the color of the sign helped me find it easily. I walked in and was immediately greeted by a young woman who offered menus and a table near the window. I had already perused the menu online. Thus, I had a good idea of what I wanted to order. I decided to try the Elotes, Birra Quesadilla and rice with beans as my sides. My partner had a chicken and cheese quesadilla. My elotes arrived quickly. It was tasty. I would have liked to have more chili powder and cojita cheese. However, the corn itself was great. Our quesadillas arrived. When I tell you my Birra Quesadilla was enough for 2 people, I mean it. It was cut into 3s and I was only able to eat 1 piece. The Birra was overflowing and so flavorful. The rice and beans were good sides, but the Birra Quesadilla was definitely the highlight of my meal. I was so happy to have leftovers for the next day. My partner enjoyed his chicken quesadilla. He asked if we could return to Taqueria Rendon soon, so he could have another one. Needless to say, we will return to try more of delicious food at this place. read more

Good Mexican food, at Taqueria Rendon. My husband and I went for dinner. We were pleasantly welcomed by the bright wall paintings and casual dining experience. As avid visitors to Mexican cuisine, we enjoy trying queso or guacamole and stick generally stay with the same order. This time we both asked for recommendations and we chose Carne Asade quesadilla and Birria Tacos with compote. Both entreès were delicious and had plenty for lunch the next day. The queso came with a chorizo mix topping, I'm guessing Oaxaca cheese is used to make their queso- you know the thick cheese that doesn't separate but is stringy similar to mozzarella. I enjoy the creamy type of queso, and still found this queso delicious. Additionally, our server brought a caddy of bottled salsa and cream, both the verde and rojo were spicy and a nice addition to the meal. We didn't order their special drinks or dessert but they offer Mexican non alcoholic drinks and bottled beverages. Overall good experience. read more

It's hard to come by an authentic Mexican place in this area, especially with the influx of italian and asian cuisine. We stopped by on a Wednesday afternoon after the gym, and we were blown away. We started with the mexican street corn, which was delicious. It had the perfect blend of spices and cheese, and it was served on the cob. This made it stand out from other restaurants, simply because we could tell it was fresh. It was so crunchy and fell right off the cob. 9.8/10 ONLY because it wasn't enough to satisfy me. I wanted more Then we tried their chicken empanadas, which were served with a savory and sweet chipotle mayonnaise. They were a different consistency than other empanadas, but I liked them more because of their heartiness. They were so filling, I had forgotten we had another portion of our meal to finish. They had a thick cornmeal coating with a good blend of chicken, spices and (what I think were) potatoes. Delicious again. 10/10 I ordered the chicken burrito and added refried beans, my boyfriend ordered sopes carnitas. Both meals had giant portions. My burrito was big enough for two meals entirely. My boyfriend could only eat one taco. The burrito had a perfect blend of everything inside, all of the flavors were amazing. Ben loved the deep fried tortillas and the garnishes they had added as well. Burrito and sopes carnitas were both 10/10. The restaurant is a quaint, cozy place, with a nice atmosphere, fun and lively music playing. I love the rustic sign they have, certain lightbulbs aren't on which adds to the affect. The decor is beautiful, and they seem to be renovating to expand their restaurant. Customer service was good! I believe with more experience and returning clientele, this place could be one of the top spots in South Jersey. We were so pleased to have to roll ourselves out the front door. This was the Friday lunchtime treat I was hoping for! Upscale tasting food in a comfortable and casual environment. Very clean establishment that has a nice dine in area but conveniently setup for takeout as well. I sat in with family today and enjoyed the entire experience. The pleasant server took our order at the table since we needed time to peruse the ample menu options. I sampled a variety of items as is typical of me when the options sound too good to choose just one. I went with the obvious staple that is chips with guac and pico de gallo. The guacamole was bright in lime flavor. I love the zest it had and could easily eat a huge bowl of it. The pico de gallo was another great bite. Slightly spicy but very fresh with nice acidity and plenty of cilantro. As a main I went with the shrimp patacone and it was DELIGHTFUL! Such a great flavor variety. The pineapple marmalade is a nice touch of sweetness on an otherwise savory plate. The tostone was a great vehicle for this mountain of flavor. Nice and crispy. It held its structure and never turned soggy. My family members tried the birria nachos and had great things to say so everything really hit it outta the park here. The waitress came up to ask if we needed anything and I asked her what kind of juices were in the the fountain. She explained that they make Orchata (Rice Milk) and Parcha (Passion Fruit) juice every morning. I ordered the Parcha. It was great! Before we left I wanted to try their Tres Leche cake. She said that aunt of the owner bakes these cakes. I boxed my remaining food not because I didn't want to finish it but because it was massive. What attracted me was the Elote (Mexican Street Corn) that I saw a picture of on someone's review. Finding good Elote is really really hard because a lot of people have their own special versions that I just do not care for. Their Elote is really good. They did put a little twist, but it was still delicious. Before ordering I asked the cashier. Did they make their corn with mayonnaise or sour cream. she responded and said mayonnaise. When she said that I knew it was gonna be good ! I requested for cilantro because it did not come with cilantro and they had no problem chopping some and adding it to the side. we also ordered the Birria tacos, chicken for one order and beef for the other. Both orders were delicious, fresh and hot. I love that they have sauces on the table for your convenience. The staff was really nice and helpful. But, Being from California I was expecting taquerias like out west. With a salsa bar and great prices. That leads me to my next point, it is pretty pricey. For two adults and a toddler we spent $40+ on dinner. I wouldn't have mind paying if it was amazing. But It was just good. I had the birria tacos with consomé, my husband had the carne asada tacos (kinda dry), our baby got the chicken tacos and we got two drinks. I absolutely loved the atmosphere.. my Mexican was showing with all the cumbias playing I wanted to get up a dance. In conclusion, I hope this place continues to do well. Food is good, but depending on what you order, the portions may be tiny! For example, I ordered the chicken empanadas and they are 4 for $7. They are SMALL so don't order it and expect that you'll be full if you are sharing them with someone else. I also ordered the al pastor bowl and that was very filling (but mainly because it was mostly rice). I was disappointed that they forgot to give the guac (which is listed on the menu that it's one of items that would come with the entree), but the al pastor was tasty and authentic. Would order again, but just a heads up there is a discrepancy with what is showing on their website for online ordering vs seamless. A lot of the items aren't listed on seamless and when I called to inquire, the girl didn't even know what seamless was. Still worth a visit! read more
