I brought my Hanbok in Friday afternoon hoping I can get it clean for a Sunday event. Unfortunately they were not able to get it cleaned for me with such short notice, but still agreed to iron it out for me. The two ladies at Chief Cleaners went above and beyond to get my Hanbok ironed before an event with 1 day turn around! I was busy the day of the pick up (Saturday) and totally missed them before they closed for the day. I was in communication with the owner through text and she offered to let me come on Sunday to pick it up even though they're closed Sunday! I'm so so grateful. She seriously didn't have to do that but this is the type of service you can only get with a small business. I've been coming here for over 10 years now to get jackets cleaned and dresses hemmed. But As a loyal customer for almost 13 years i completely disappointed in this place.. i came in to get my stuff ready for an important event. 1) they do not have my items ready 2) they state that my items are not even at the location 3) after already missing the time they originally gave me they gave me a new time to come same day and IT IS STILL NOT HERE OR READY so i have to still wait 4) they call me right after leaving to ask me what items i had brought! Well, I dropped off a dress shirt to be pressed for my mom's memorial service tomorrow. I began looking for more cost-effective dry cleaners about 2 years ago? The owner is May, and she is awesome. I found CHIEF CLEANERS back when my health began to decline and my expenses suddenly hemorrhaged due to alternative treatments i opted to use in my battle against my stage 2.... so simple mathematics dictated a more frugal approach to cleaning my acquisitions from back before the pandemic and cancer and lockdown. I met May, and we chatted and discovered that her sister had been battling cancer and subsequently had been through so much, and May was amazed by what I was bearing up against, too. I dropped off a dozen shirts and a couple of wool trousers, and then I got sick and went to the hospital and came home and was recovering for quite a while. I neglected to remember I had dropped off items already at CHIEF'S and was completely oblivious about what had been waiting for me. Then factor in a fall and a torn stitch or an irritated staple and dehydration and a pretty bad cold. Needless to say, time had flown by. I found a recipe in my messenger bag from CHIEF'S, and I was shocked and a bit embarrassed. I phoned in and MAY answered and informed me that it had been over a year and a half. OMG, I went in and picked up my cleaning, and it was all there. I thanked her for keeping my items safe and secure and MAY asked how I had been. I shared a bit of what I had dealt with, and she had a similar experience that her sister had gone through. She handed me my things and stressed for me to keep safe. To take care of myself. May is so very kind! And deserves to be celebrated. She does good work and values her customers' possessions. I'd like for CHIEF'S cleaners to become YELP famous! I have think about to write this review for so long. I don't want to give bad review to hurt the business under current circumstances. But honestly every time I try to wear my shirt I feel so sad about it. I don't believe how can a professional dry cleaner can make this kind of mistake. See the pictures for detail. Two different button areas has been over bleach to white, and on the back collar has a big stain. I can accept if you tell me you cannot make it good when I drop the shirt, or just return my shirt. But I cannot accept you charge me on this kind of services. I didn't go back the store because my husband picked up my clothes. I just feel so sad about it. BAD SERVICE! I was referred here by a friend for dress alterations. All that was needed has a hem and a quick sow in the chest area to cover the cleavage. There is nothing wrong with the dress itself however, May is extremally rude and insulting. May stated my dress would be ready in 1 week and when I went to pick up my dress it was not ready. May asked my daughter if the dress was for her although I tried it on for her a week prior. She then proceeded to insult my weight and tell my daughter "oh, no it's not for you, you are skinny, that dress is BIG". I was told the dress would be ready the next day and I will receive a txt. They txted me the next day to pick up the dress and when I got there is was unfinished as May "forgot" to sow the cleavage area. I was told I need to come back again. When returning for the 3rd time May refused to give me a discount although my time was wasted not once but twice. She would not budge on a discount stating she already told me "sorry". I believe the owner told May to drop the price $5 and when I paid May told me to never come back. This is by far the worst service I have ever had. read more

AVOID AT ALL COST. I'd give her -5 stars if possible because WHAT THE HELL is this work??? I literally cried on my way home from both embarrassment and just over all being so upset with how this dress looked in the end. The only reason I came here is because a friend of a friend's got her Chinese dress altered here and said they did a decent job at fixing her tea ceremony dress. This place did a horrible job at fixing my dress. The first time I brought my dress in, the lady (I think she's the owner), had me wait 20min for her to get to the shop-- no big deal cause' I just did a walk in. Then she started pinning my dress and commenting about my weight and my body saying how it'll be hard to fix it so she will have to charge me more. She didn't give me a price, but instead she asked me how much I was willing to pay. This was red flag number one. Good thing I brought my fiancé along so he instead did the price negotiating. She charged me $80 because she said she has to cut a lot of the fabric and sew it back on and then synch the waist and all these reasons. I agreed to it because I thought it was a fair price for what she was going to do. Gave me two weeks estimate and told me to come back. I come back two weeks later to pick up the dress-- I was expecting to try it on when I get there, but the lady who helped me literally just handed me the dress and told me to pay. I didn't know any better, so I went ahead and paid with my card and took the dress home to try it on. BIG MISTAKE. There was a very obvious fold in the front of my dress where they had stitched it in. I drove right back and told them to please redo it because it was so obvious. I was expecting them to argue with me because they did not acknowledge me at all when I went in and told them there was a problem with my dress. The owner told me to wait since there was a guy ahead of me, but fortunately enough, the guy was nice and told me I can go ahead in front of him since he was going to take a while. I showed her the VERY obvious fold from the stitching and she started to blame the fabric saying it was because it's double layer and that my body was difficult to work with. She also kept telling me to not gain anymore weight and repeated it over and OVER. I was embarrassed by this because she was saying it IN FRONT of other customers. She took the dress again and told me they will text me when it's ready and that was that. I get the text and told me the dress was ready and I went in right away. They stitched the dress even longer and the fold is still there. Not only that, I also noticed a very CROOKED stitching on my chest area. Again, she blamed the fabric. Blamed my body saying it's hard to fix the dress to my body-- which at this point I was getting sick of hearing because if you aren't able to do a good job for the service being requested, then don't accept the job at all. I told her that I will not be letting her touch my dress anymore. She already ruined it enough. I politely asked her to refund me half the amount I paid her because she did not do the job she promised to do so I can take it elsewhere or use the money to purchase a new dress. After several back and forth, she finally agreed to return me half the amount I originally paid for and told me to never come back and threatened that she will always remember me and will refuse service. I don't plan on ever coming back and if you can, please avoid this place at all cost! She will not take accountability for her tailor's mistake (no she does not do her own alterations, she outsources it to other people) and blame you for it. read more

Just picked up my scrub pant alterations and not what I had asked for. Took in 4 scrub pants to have an extra pocket added, the length hemmed, and elastic waist added. I took in a sample of what I wanted and the extra pockets too. The sample was left with the cleaners to duplicate what I wanted; same elastic waist, pockets, and length. To my disgust the pants had the pocket added, but length was not hemmed, and the elastic waist band not added. Upset with myself for trusting this establishment. So i bought a dress for $10 and just to cut it a little bit shorter they want me to pay $20 for it. When i told them i won't have it repair they now got pissed and says she wasted her time. So to give a little consideration ( i still want to be a good person) i let them repair my other dress even if it cost $44! Just for repairing little bit in the side and back of the dress. This is a a small business, but the costs are way more reasonable than in Pasadena or Glendale. For men, expect to pay around $30 for a full alteration that will make your pants fit perfectly. Usually the suit pants I buy are baggy on me, so it does not look its best when worn. Bringing in the rear, and legs, makes for a nice form fitting pants that does wonders for your appearance, and it costs half that of other tailors in either valley. I was so disappointed to find out that my favorite dry cleaner for over 10 years closed recently. It took me awhile to find a new dry cleaner and I am glad it's also close to home. I don't ask much from a dry cleaner. Good price and my clothes come back clean. I stopped by and was immediately nicely greeted by the staff. Overall it takes about 2-3 days for the clothes to come back. You can request for it sooner but I didn't have a need so it was okay. I got my clothes back and was pleased to see that the stains from my jacket was gone (I tried to clean the stain myself at home but the stains were hard to remove). My suit was nicely pressed and smooth. The jacket was $7.50 and my suit was $11.50. My only 2 complaints that's holding me back is that they charge $1 if i charge with my credit card and they charge another $0.50 because my suit has a inside lining and they said it's more difficult to clean so they will only charge $0.50 for both jacket and pants. Now my thing is why even charge $0.50. All suits come with a inside lining. OMG!!! I was a bit turned off how they nickel and dime you. For a local small dry cleaner, they wouldn't charge as if they are a franchise. Anyways, i'm going to try another dry cleaner before I come back. Maybe i'll update my review. read more

Honestly didn't want to give a low rating to this establishment, but the transaction I had was disappointing. I had a couple suits dry cleaned and one of them fixed. Turned out great! My problem: I went to pay for the services & decided to use Samsung pay on my phone. For whatever reason it failed. Given that there's no issue with the phone/card I tried a total of 3 times. It failed to go through all 3 times, so I decided to just pay with my debt card. The lady tells me that each time the card fails there's a fee of $.50 (total of $1.50). My mom brought a couple designer coats to have dry cleaned - a Chanel and Miu Miu coat. They're supposed to use foil to cover it which I suspect they didnt. A button on both those coats came off and they couldnt retrieve it. These kinds of buttons cost at least a hundred bucks each and they wouldn't take responsibility for it and still asked for payment. A month ago, I took in a jersey to get some stains removed. They weren't able to get the stains removed. I still have to pay for the service which was $10. Today I came to pick up a jersey and saw that there was damage to the numbers. This is my fourth jersey from this company and I've never experienced any issues with the brand. I told this to the person working there and they said it's the material. We end up cleaning things that are $4000 and we can never had any issues. But unfortunately with mine it seems like there was. Nonetheless, I still had to pay for the cleaning. I wish I didn't pay for it because they damaged my $200 jersey. I think they should've had some responsibility. But they tried to pass the buck to the company that designed the jersey. Which I don't think is to blame. Nonetheless this is the second issue I've had with them. Save your time and money. I had taken it to Espinoza Leather paid 75 buck for a shit job they stitched over the pocket made holes along the front of the vest it was just horrible! My uncle told me to throw it away he didn't want his Harley Davison leather vest anymore. I decided to give it one more shot and took it to Chief Cleaners they assured me they can undo the horrible stitching and and add a liner which was needed to repair and add the zip. I was recently a bridesmaid in my friend's wedding and had a dress that basically had two pointy parts right in the chest area that made me look like I was freezing in 80-degree weather. Needless to say, I had to get this dress altered. I took it to another tailor on two separate weekends, and each time, the other tailor was still unable to fix the chest area. Since the wedding was quickly approaching and I didn't want to risk having the other tailor fail a third time, I went to Chief's Cleaners because I had heard great things about them. The seamstress had me try on the dress and immediately knew what to do. She told me to pick up the dress a few days later. I was thrilled that she could do it in less than a week. Much to my surprise, ONE HOUR LATER, I get a call back from the shop saying my dress was ready!!! She did not waste time at all. I told her how shocked I was, and she sweetly responded, "I wanted you to have your dress in time for your party." What's even more awesome--she only charged me $21. May is always so nice and helpful, sometimes the line can be alittle long but she's someone who actually cares and helps out each customer the best she can. One of the reasons I selected this place was because of the great reviews. So either I'm a very lucky person or something is wrong here. I had to travel for business unexpectedly so was in a hurry to get my some suits cleaned, pressed and fixed (had lost a little weight recently). I had sent a request and made some calls to see how much it would cost and who could turn it around the quickest. I had 1 that said they can do same day and was cheaper but because of distance I didn't go with it. I called Chief Saturday morning at 820am and was told if I brought my stuff in right away, I can get it by Monday. I hurried there and the lady helped me. I also needed to have my pants fixed so she asked me to put it on and she pinned me. The whole time she wasn't talking to me at all, she was on talking the phone through her Bluetooth device. When she was done she gave me my ticket and told me to come pick up on Monday. That's great right? And so I thought! I came by Monday morning (today) to pick up my items. The lady who helped me on Saturday had a hard time finding my pieces. When she finally did she said the pants that needed tailoring was not together with the suit jacket and if I could come back later today to get it so she can find it. I said fine. I came by again 310pm to pick up my pants. After a series of things like not able to find my ticket on their rack of tickets and questioning me what was it I was missing, why did I need to taper my pants, who helped me...same lady and her helper spent 15mins looking and couldn't find my pants...THEN RIGHT IN FRONT of the conveyer, my pants were found with the PINS still on them. She then told me either I take my pants back or come back later to get it. You can imagine how upsetting this was now! There is not enough room or time for me to put everything so I want to make sure I put my main issues with this place and specifically thus lady. She should not be talking in s personal phone call while handling a client. When she couldn't find my pants in the morning she should have figure something was wrong and made more of an effort to find my pants and it could have been done when I came back. SG's should have apologized for her unprofessional handling of my situation and at least offered a credit, discount for something! But nope, nothing at all. This is not how you treat a customer, especially a new one. I paid $39 for services I was promised. But that doesn't mean anything to this business. Though I will NEVER come back here, I hope this lady (I learned later she was the owner) changes his she is in the future to others. read more
