I was skeptical about a Mexican restaurant on the outskirts of Branson, Missouri, but we were pleased to find this hidden gem. If this restaurant was in San Antonio it would be on my short list of top choices, at least based on the one experience. We all agreed it exceded expectations and if we're ever back in Branson, we'll return. The parking lot was empty when we arrived, not a good sign, but it was 2:00pm on a weekday, in the off season (early May with temps in the upper 50's) so we decided to chance it. We walked in and were the only customers there. Everything only got better from there We received a healthy servings of chips with a small carafe of salsa, so no need to ask for refills. We ordered an appetizer of guacamole. It was on point. We repeatedly remarked how fresh and tasty everything was. My wife had a mango margarita. It came with plenty of mango flavor, including some fresh mango chunks. I had the ground beef chili relleno with a side order of cactus (nopales). I've had many disappointing chili rellenos, but this one was perfect. The ground beef was well seasoned and not to dry or too sloppy like you sometimes get. Is was very lightly breaded, so if you really like a lot of batter, that might be a negative for you. The server was attentive and food service was quick (to be fair, we were the only customers). This is a small place They have a patio but it was chilly so we sat inside.
