Food portions are amazing! They serve Pepsi products and in BIG cups. My son loves the Quesoread more

The first few miles of Highway 51 east bound from Tahlequah have some nice curves. Then the road…read morerelaxes and straightens a little. Here and there it evolves back into a few long lazy curves to navigate the topography as highway 62. It is a nice drive to the railroad town of Westville, OK and some unexpected delicious Mexican food at El Sombrero. It is a little building on the west side of 59 just south of Highway 62. They have been in business since 2013. The air-conditioning unit on the north end of the building looks large enough to cool a Walmart. A good indication that El Sombrero will be an oasis when the temperatures break 100 again. It was pleasant in there today! They have a large OkieMex menu and daily specials. My wife went with a taco salad with steak. Excellent grilled steak, superb guacamole, and perfect creamy tasty beans. It was served in a freshly fried, crispy flour tortilla bowl. She rated it as good as she has had anywhere. I think there was some confusion between me and the young lady taking my order. Maybe, maybe not. I will never know for sure; but here is the situation. One of the specials on the chalk board out front was Enchiladas Verdes. That is what I tried to order. What I got did not look like what I am accustomed to getting for Enchiladas Verdes. AND after eating them, I don't care! I got two delicious ground beef enchiladas covered in wonderful sour cream sauce, with those perfect beans and rice. Eat this! OMG it was good! It took quite a while for the food to come to the table after ordering. I know why. There is no doubt that the ground beef and the creamy sauce were not prepared until I ordered. Fresh in taste and equally fresh in appearance. It was worth the wait, worth the drive and worth the money. This is a rare small town find. The restaurant is small, clean and with very friendly service. The salsas are excellent. Always ask for the good salsa picante. Essential to making a perfect meal exceptional.

Went here for a team building work lunch. This was my first time dining here and I really liked…read morethe decor and overall ambiance, but it was really busy and fairly loud inside. There were 8 people in our group and they ended up seating us outside which wasn't a problem as it was warm and sunny. Once seated our server took our drink order quickly and followed up shortly with taking an order for appetizers. Which also came out fairly quickly. Our server then took our entree orders. He returned three or four times to replenish/refill drinks for the females in our group but ignored me and the other male in our group, until we asked for a refill. Our entree's took about 20 - 25 minutes to come out and there were several minutes between the first and last to make it to the table. In the business district of the town where most of their lunchtime weekday customers are workers on lunch break they need to be getting the food out the kitchen quicker. As for the food presentation was nice. Everyone's dishes looked really fresh and appetizing. Two of our team had the shrimp taco's and they was so much moisture in them they ended up eating them with a knife and fork. Another two on our team had the Quesabirria. They said it tasted good but had more cheese than Burria. As for my own dish, I had the poblanos with steak, which is three enchiladas covered in a poblano sauce with a side of rice. The portion was a reasonable size but the steak was chewy and while it wasn't bad the poblano sauce just didn't impress me. It was just plain in flavor, with not much poblano flavor. Like I mentioned earlier we were seated outside. I was about two thirds the way through my meal and found a small black hair in the sauce. Where we were sat was pretty breezy so I cannot say if the hair came with my meal or if it was blown onto my food, but it was not the best end to what I would call a lackluster meal.

This was my husband and I first time coming to this restaurant. We both ordered the arrachera as we…read morewere wanting to eat on the healthier side. Ordering skirt steak from any restaurant is hit or miss sometimes but let me tell you both of ours came out amazing! Both of our steaks were perfectly cooked no fat whatsoever on them and they were perfectly seasoned and tender. It was so good! We loved the onions on the side and the beans were very good too. What won our hearts over was the green sauce with avocado chunks in it, it was delicious and such a nice touch. The service was quick and our waiter was friendly. The restaurant was decorated modernly and very clean. We will definitely be returning!
