Was not pleased with my experience here. The restaurant itself was not very sanitary as there were flies buzzing around the food. The containers that my burrito bowl was put in was not leak proof. By the time I got back to my hotel, the liquid had seeped through the bowl. All of this could have been redeemed if the food was good; it was not. Some people might like this place, but it's not a good fit for me. I ordered a chicken burrito. If I wanted onions, I would have asked for onions. Their grilled chicken had onions mixed in. For some, this might not be a big deal, but to someone that doesn't like onions, it's a problem. The chicken and rice were both lacking in flavor. The original Chiliango's is a very good little restaurant. However, I can't say the same for the burrito bar. My issue here is everything is just way too expensive for what you get. They nickle and dime you on everything from guac to a cup for water. When your paying the absurd price for one of these burritos there should be no further up charges. The food is okay but doesn't compare to the original. The tortilla for the burrito was hard and cracking and overwhelmed the minimal toppings. So unfortunently I really wouldn't ever return. Id rather go to qdoba or chipotle for price and Id rather just go to the original Chilangos for taste. Unless you need a burrito fix later at night I would skip this place entirely. read more

I've been to this establishment twice. The first time, I had a phenomenal experience. The food was great, the service was excellent. The second time I went (a day later) was the worst burrito experience of my life. The girls working seemed to have no idea how to make a tortilla, and when they managed to make one, they ripped it trying to fold it. Instead of offering to remake it, she said, "I'm just going to put it in a to-go container, ok?" Trying not to annoy her, I agreed. When I brought it home, it was soggy and gross. I haven't been back since, but I'm hoping to go back and have an experience like my first and not my last. read more

When I went to The Burrito Bar the manager had served me my food I had burrito bowl which I usually like I always get my sauce on the side because I'm not for sure if I want sauce actually on my food. He told me it would cost me $0.59 to put sauce that comes with the food on the side I left the food. I will not be back I actually called the owners to contact me they never called back because they know that that is messed up customer service. Just under 23$, My girlfriend and I enjoyed our large proportioned dinner. I ordered the Nachos Libre carne asada, and my girlfriend ordered 3x3 shredded chicken tacos, side order of rice. Love the options of corn or flour tortillas, they're made with each order. Queso, is a must. We absolutely love the fresh food they serve. The Double Hot Habanero salsa is a fire breather. I love the flavor with fresh cilantro and sour cream on the side to tame the heat. Downtown location with convenient parking nearby. Clean Restrooms. Friendly staff. The food is phenomenal, but there's one thing about this place I really wish they would work on, and that is the tortilla. If you go there, there is a 50% change it will rip badly. Usually their response is "I'm going to put it in a bowl". What the heck? I didn't ask for a burrito bowl, I asked for a burrito. Their policy should be to make it again if this happens. I'm not sure what goes into this happening, but I would guess it's the thickness of the tortilla varying wildly. I think they ought to make the shells with a little more dough. I took my family to the burrito bar last night for a quick bite to eat before a movie. The service was not good. They started my daughters order, then started working on a large order for a local business while her food sat on the counter and got cold. We then had to wait a significant amount of time until they finished preparing the large order until they came back to us. We were apologized to, and given free drinks as compensation for our wait, so they did acknowledge the issue. The food was average. My son said he really liked the nachos (with steak) and my wife and I both had burrito bowls (both with steak) and they were ok. My daughter did not like the tacos due to how long they sat before she could eat them. There was a rather large line (due to the backup caused by the large order) so she did not try to have them remade. Overall, it was a disappointing experience. I do usually give places a second chance before I stop going so hopefully the next experience will be better. read more

For the second time... Chilango's botched my order... First occasion... asked for a lighter portion of meat and beans... Guy was working unnecessarily fast and overfilled (what is already an huge burrito)... the addition of vegetable toppings totally split the tortilla... Second occasion... I asked if they would please make the burrito longer so that I could more easily share it with someone else... I was told that would not be a problem. The person that filled it proceeded to heap it so full of rice that it was not able to be rolled (as I was told they would have not one problem doing)... without splitting... I was told that I ordered too many items... I replied that it was overstuffed with rice. I was told that the person filling it inferred (without asking) that I wanted extra rice because I'd requested so little of the primary filling and that 'the guy' making the dough balls wasn't making them big enough... So that combined with the over-filling caused the split... OK fine however, the food is just OK... In sharing a burrito (for $4.00 / each) it's a serviceable lunchtime meal... Nothing more. However, that price point when combined with the notion that you run a realistic risk of being told one thing and receiving another and/or have to spend some of your lunch allowing for the (very realistic) chance of having your food re-worked and//or remade... I'd say stay away. If you're into strapping on a big ole feedbag and you're not too selective about the what-you-ask to the-what-you-receive ratio, Chilango's is the place for you. Seriously???? 2) looked like burrito toppings were leftovers from lunchtime 3) dinning room was not cleaned, yet 3 or more workers in back 4) made queso nachos with beans! (beans are not on the menu desc) 5) no tea in the tea machine 6) no hot sauce! ALL burrito places have hot sauce in bottles at the tables 7) stool by window is broken The burrito I got tasted good, though. They may be good at food (when fresh & available), but there is MUCH more when running a restaurant. We will NOT go back as a family. read more

Opinions on this place tend to differ between my friends and I, but this is my favorite Mexican restaurant in the Jackson area. Love their burritos, and the unique style, which is like a Subway for authentic Mexican food. I typically order the steak as the meat for my burrito, and it does not disappoint. Good location downtown, and a fun environment. The price always surprises me for some reason, but it is not unreasonable. Highly recommend if you're in downtown Jackson. read more

I will never order from this place again. Time after time they fail. Every single time the order is WRONG or different from what you ordered and when you call they have an EXCUSE. "under new management" is the current one. They are NOT consistent with what they are saying and or doing. I order the same thing every time a nacho. I get the half and a friend of mine gets a whole. We order it with the chips on the side and a side of rice. Last Friday they forgot a side of rice so the delivery gal calls and the guy tells her that "I put it in the nachos", nobody asked for rice in their nachos. A SIDE of rice was ordered. Today same deal only all the nachos have rice in them and the side..???? Which is it? You put rice in the nachos now? Also, ordered whole nachos and got the HALF size delivered. Called and they said that when chips are ordered on the side then they put the rest in the small container and there's nothing they can do for us. Well we order the large with chips on the side every time and it comes in a large container. I am tired of this place "changing things as they go". My chips are also burnt. I will never give them another penny of my money. Qdoba and Los Tres Amigos will now get our business. I'm tired of dealing with a company who makes the rules as they go along.
