I had went a month in advance to go ask some questions. Security didn't let me in just to ask a simple question. Said you need appointment and gave me a paper to call. Also, a form to request a copy of a ss card for a minor. I called to get appointment for a copy of a minor ss card. I ask what do I need to request them. The person tells me the usual identification for a minor(passport, school ID, vaccines and birth certificate together). Not once said that there is a criteria for the ages. 0-4 you can use this and 4 and up you can only use this. Also, all documents that is medical has to be notarized and signed by a doctor. Today is my appointment. What a slap in the face I get when I show up with the documentation that the person on the phone TOLD ME!!!! Person at the window like huh. Yeah, none of this is correct and gives me a paper and tells me this and that. He asks for a iehp card. Only card from iehp is insurance card. On the paper it says they can take that so why did he ask for it, huh? Something else about it can't be issued more than four years!!!!!!! Side note. When the conversation is all done. He said he can help me all the way until 4pm. I told him I'll be back in 20mins. I don't live far. I get back he isn't at his desk but a lady. I let the lady know if she can notify the person that sitting there that I'm back. Nothing. Waited 40min seen people go to his window to be helped.

Apparently, there were a bunch of other ppl on the list waiting for the same test book, too, So, I said, "Just pour me on the list anyways. Hopefully, I'll get it before the test comes." I ordered it and hoped for the best. As we were walking out, she called us back and said, "I know that they we only carry the 2012 edition, and that's pretty old, but you know what, I am going to request they get the latest (2018) edition and I will put you first on the list to get it. Wow! I was so surprised! Thank you to Liz for offering such great customer service! On our way out we checked out 30 books, and in return, received two free Dr. SEUSS hats, a really nice big reusable tote bag (Pac Man?) to hold all of our library books, and an In-N-Out card for our kids to fill out and earn 3 free burgers for reading 15 books each! The building is stunning and the displays are pure art. The docents are incredibly knowledgeable and provide you with an abundance of information. My only complaint is that the exterior of this beautiful shrine is marred by ugly QR code banners which make it impossible to take a good photo of the exterior. I also hope they remove 'The 1619 Project' from its prominent display as it has been widely discredited and is a real insult to the 360,000 Union Soldiers who sacrificed their lives - as did Lincoln - to eradicate slavery from our country.

July 29, 2026…read more Subject: Complaint Regarding Customer Service and Wait Times at the Employment Development Department Disability Office To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to express my serious concerns regarding my recent experiences at the Employment Development Department Disability Office. Today, I returned to the office after previously visiting last week. I waited outside for approximately one hour before I was able to speak with the security guard, whose name was Jacob. Unfortunately, he was very rude and unwilling to assist me. I requested to speak with a supervisor, and after some hesitation, a supervisor came out to speak with me. The supervisor introduced himself as Buddy. He approached me wearing sunglasses and greeted me by saying, "What's up? What do you want?" I found this to be disrespectful and unprofessional. I asked him to address me properly and introduced myself by saying, "My name is Hope. What is your name?" I then explained that I have a heart condition and cannot safely remain outside in temperatures exceeding 100 degrees for extended periods. Last week, I waited outside for approximately three hours under the same extreme heat before I had to leave because of my medical condition. During our conversation, the supervisor stated they were having issues and were currently working on July's disability payments. However, it appears that many people are experiencing the same problems. The conditions at this office are unacceptable. The lines are extremely long, and many people are waiting more than eight hours in dangerous weather conditions. It often takes over four hours just to get inside the building and another four hours before being seen. During that time, people also receive parking citations because the surrounding parking is limited to two hours, even though the office is aware that customers are required to remain there far longer than the parking limit allows. I understand that many individuals are seeking assistance and that the staff may be dealing with a high volume of cases. However, there must be a better system in place. No one should be forced to wait all day in extreme heat, especially individuals with medical conditions or disabilities. Equally concerning is the manner in which some employees interact with the public. Treating people as though they do not matter only adds to an already difficult situation. I respectfully request that this matter be reviewed, including both the customer service provided at this office and the excessive wait times. I hope meaningful changes can be made to ensure that everyone is treated with dignity, respect, and compassion while receiving the services they need. I would also appreciate a response regarding what actions will be taken to address these concerns. Thank you for your time and consideration.
