Had an ER visit and an overnight stay due to blood clots after a fall. ERs are always difficult…read moredue to long waits as they get test results back before proceeding to the next step, and are trying to prioritize your needs over all the other emergencies happening at the same time. Despite this, Dr. Mooney was incredibly good to me. He explained what had happened to me, even drawing me a picture, then told me I would be admitted overnight to the hospital. Sleeping overnight in the hospital isn't easy, as nurses come in every 1 to 2 hours to give you meds or check your vitals. The doctor and NP who visited me overnight were also very kind and good to me (Dan Marra and Dr. Ahmed). The doctors never have a lot of time to sit down and chat with you, because there are so many other people who need them at the same time, so I didn't expect it, however, Dr. Marra went out of his way to explain things to me, and was very kind to me. They bring you food while in the hospital that was surprisingly good. Everyone is short staffed and tired, as the medical system is broken, but despite everything, I am grateful that they kept me alive and gave me the care that I needed.

I was recently turned away without treatment for suicidal feelings. They gave me nothing but a bill, after holding me there against my will. No doctor, no therapist, no follow up to help me get back on my feet. Just a bill and cruel words. Beware the nurse with the Nickelodeon tattoo.

Care is sooo poor. Daughter was sent there by ambulance and put in a triage room 2 for like two…read morehours and nobody, came in but once and that when she was brought in. Was told she was getting blood work and ct scan. Guess what two hours later nothing. Put her call bell on for 49 minutes, (Yes she timed it) and guess what someone shut it off at the nurses station and yes she turned it back on and still nobody came. by the third hour, rolled around, the nurse let me into see her. Call bell was put on again for another 20 minutes and as u can guess nothing. So my daughter pulled out her IV and had to go yes, you guessed it had to find the nurse to them she leaving and HE said ok!!! Now has to wait to see a specialist soon. Oh before all this happened, I seen to other ladies walk out the Emergency room no the waiting room the ER and stated "its been four hours and nothing." So if you like be Neglected, this is the hospital and emergency room for you!!! Horrible from check in to the ER, never again!!!

After initially having slight issues with the team of attending doctors who didn't bother to even look twice at what was going on and just treated me like another number, nurse Dolan quickly was able to rectify the situation, adjust my medication and completely turned this experience around for me. The level of attentiveness and compassion from her for me being fresh out of a very painful surgery was unmatched. Shannan Dolan is what we need more of at albany medical center. People who care a lot patients. I was able to discharge from the hospital with the appropriate medications that weren't previously even in the system like they were supposed to be, thanks to Nurse Dolan who handled it all quickly and efficiently. I hope this review gets passed on to her and her supervisors at Albany Med because she definitely deserves to be recognized for her outstanding hospitality and care. Thanks again nurse Dolan.

Yesterday, I am standing at the nurses station for 3-5 minutes and a nurse finally addresses me asking "Do you want something?" In my head I'm thinking- No, I'm standing here adorning the the counter. No one wants to be bothered. If my husband needed changing, a beverage or info regarding his medical plan it is ignored. I used to recommend Albany Med with high marks, no more!!! Oh, and the attending physician never even tried to connect with me for two days after I left several avenues to communicate information. If anyone assures you that they will contact you with any significant updates- they lie. To be fair, I am specifically commenting on D 420's.
