Sara the Director has been wonderful since day 1, always communicates and helpful in keeping parents in the loop. Every staff member has been amazing, but we especially love and appreciate Miss Kim, Cheyenne, Angel, Mira, Bridget, and lovely Krysten in the office. Before Kindercare on Union, we went to 4 other daycares and I even worked at one of them, and nothing matches the love, care, and peace of mind I get with this facility. I started here as a student in 5th grade up to 8th grade, starting 6th grade I have had horrible experiences with not only the administration here but many of the teachers. Almost every year here I have been called up to the office for 'inconveniences' they believe were me just because of my 'record'. Keep in mind, I have NEVER received a detention here or at any of the schools I have ever been at, they have accused me of flooding the school, fighting, talking sexually, even have been written up for these claims, but never have I done such and their only proof was random rumors spread about me, I was purposely targeted from Mrs. Goshow & Mrs. Nash (AS Principal and Principal) due to the fact I brought up major concerns to them every year that were necessary to address. Speaking of that, if you are a parent who does not fund the school, participate in PROP, or has/has had an A+ student, you will not be listened too. My parents have been belittled and dismissed on major safety concerns regarding teachers and the facility. When it comes to the facility, you do not expect a K-8 school to be perfectly clean, but Painted Rock is disgustingly filthy; the pipes in the bathrooms leak and flood, there has been a broken window that has yet to be fixed as of the time I left (May 22nd), the floors are cracking and have stains all over them, theres black mold on the ceiling vents in the bathrooms and in office hallway, there is a hole in one of the walls, and the AC constantly gave out and leaked all over our desks from the tiles. I addressed all these problems to admin, but I was yelled at; told I was wrong, and called directly to my face I am 'sensitive' and a 'liar'. When it comes to SPED classes, they do not 'teach' your child to be better, they do not teach them how to comprehend a lesson, they automatically pass a SPED student, and it encourages low effort. No child in the SPED classes are equally cared about, some are more cared about than others, some are ignored, some are spoiled by the teachers. I know this as I had several friends from those classes approach me. There are some great teachers, but many yell, bully, and discourage. They are there simply to come and go, they do not care about their students, do nott get me wrong, they have some pretty good teachers though. (FYI: Only 80% of the teachers are qualified.)

They don't follow my kids instructions for laying her down on her blanket usually its the afternoon shift from what they see on the cameras. But last Friday my son picked her up and she had bruises on her forehead and a bruised lip. They had nothing written on her sheet as to what happened at all and when questioned no explanation either except she scratched her lip, CLEARLY this is not the case. The director did follow up with a phone call apologizing but still nothing to report as to what happened, when questioned on camera the response was that they were live streaming so no way to go back and look. The staff is amazing and really care about the kids, they take them outside (under like 95) to play on the playground in the back. They give them breakfast, snacks, and lunch all you need to bring is diapers, wipes, a sheet and blanket for nap time, and an extra set of clothes. As at any daycare kids get sick but they have great policies to help control them if someone starts spreading anything. If you kid ahead a fever when it starts to go above normal they let you know so if they do need to be sent home you have time to plan incase that happens. All around great communication! They have parties for all the holidays and just a fun environment for kids. I highly recommend you looking at them if you're looking at having kids in daycare and I can't say enough good things about them!

They have recently had a significant turnover in staff due to a couple of disgruntled caregivers and many hurtful and vindictive allegations that are just plain not true. APA was/is my favorite because of how tucked away it is from the hustle and bustle of traffic; it has a beautiful mountain outdoor landscape for outdoor play; and the center is extremely secure and cozy with a key code and a new digital checkout system... BUT, the teachers are community environment is what really made it for me. My daughter has been at Anderson Preparatory Academy since she was 6 months old. She is now in the young two's room. I love it because, even though the teachers are young, they really do care about their students. The teachers are trained in how to respond and nurture young children instead of just being thrown into the room and expected to learn. And it seems like all the teachers know all the children and what rooms they belong in, etc. It truly is a community as it's easy to connect with the parents since your child is growing up with theirs! I sincerely loved picking up my daughter from school and seeing her teachers interact with love. So important for any child, especially toddlers. APA is now directed under Tara O'Neale, who is a former kindergarten teacher. She is incredibly proactive in making sure the daycare and preschool are updated with monthly flash cards, the latest learning trends (Learning Without Tears), Scholastic book fairs, and monthly themes. Mrs. O'Neale has also brought on the SmartCare program - WHICH IS AMAZING! My husband and I consistently get updates whenever my daughter is working on activity, napping, getting changed, moving rooms, etc. Plus, the teachers always update adding pictures of what my daughter is doing, which is way more secure than texting. It's just a really neat program, and my in-law's in Washington love being updated with their first grandchild. And I know it makes my day when getting a picture of my daughter playing with her classmates. Along with the curriculum and community, APA has a monthly calendar and everyday has a purpose. Whether it be "wear your pajamas to school" or "crazy sock day," it's a great way to get the kids involved. My daughter especially loves Tuesday because that's karate day. That's when a teacher from a local karate school comes in to teach the kids a few moves. The school also has amazing holiday events -- from a school egg hunt for Easter to a Mother's Day tea. I personally loved the Christmas holiday because each grade level performed a holiday song. During summertime, they have activities like a bounce castle, weekly field trips to Arizona Science Center or even Fry's. But, I love the way this school is organized; it really is a community. I am a high school English and journalism teacher, but did teach early education 10 years ago... I really do feel like my daughter is getting the best education at her age. My husband and I considered enrolling her at the Montessori that opened up nearby, especially as she is getting older, but the level of community isn't what it is at APA, and I do feel like since Mrs. O'Neale has joined, that the level of academic rigor has increased. She is engaged in play-based learning, always bringing home craft or painting projects. She loves playing "teacher" and showing us flashcards for us to guess. Her counting is remarkable and she is extremely verbal. She loves her friends and her social skills have completely blossomed over the past year. Her infant teachers have moved on from APA, but we still keep touch through social media. Her one's and two's teachers, Ms. Brianna, Ms. Diana, and Ms. Stephanie, are THE BEST TEACHERS any parent with a toddler could ask for! They are on top of things, organized, creative, nurturing, and involved in seeing their students succeed. Without a second thought, I would recommend APA to anyone! It is THE best daycare and preschool in the North Valley, hands down.
