A good doctor doesn't have to have all the answers--but they should be able to answer questions with patience and respect. During my 8-year-old's appointment, Dr. Goodarzi suggested plastic surgery as one treatment option. I asked what that would involve, and was told, "Well, I'm not a plastic surgeon, so you'll need to speak to them." I then asked whether the procedure would require anesthesia. The response was, "Of course there's anesthesia. Who would do a procedure without it?" When I explained that I wasn't comfortable with that option and continued asking clarifying questions, the conversation quickly became tense. Rather than discussing the risks, benefits, or alternatives, I felt my questions were treated as if I were challenging the doctor's authority. The interaction escalated to the point where the doctor raised her voice and ultimately told us to "go ahead and file a complaint with the medical board." Parents have every right to ask questions before making medical decisions for their children. We weren't looking for an argument--we were trying to make an informed decision. No family should leave a medical appointment feeling belittled for asking reasonable questions. read more

Dr. Goodarzi helped our newborn doctor when she was about 4 months old and had severe eczema. We've tried all kinds of lotions and ointments, but nothing was working. Dr. Goodarzi had us try a 2 day therapy with wet wraps and topical steroids and it was truly a miracle and helped clear up her eczema and rashes all over her body. We have been seeing Dr. Heidi Goodarzi for over a year, and it has truly been a wonderful experience. My son has level 3 autism, which comes with additional challenges on top of his dermatology concerns. From the very beginning, Dr. Goodarzi has been exceptional in caring for him. My daughter was having really bad eczema right after her baby acne went away when she turned 2 months so we took her to a few different places in MN since I moved out of state but none of the remedies given to her really worked long term - they were all temporary fixes that helped for a short period of time. When she was 4 months, me and my husband was planning a trip to bring baby to visit her grandparents in CA and figured I would try to find a good Pediatric Dermatologist while there and stumbled upon Dr. Goodarzi's reviews AND THANK GOODNESS I DID! Dr. Goodarzi was such a pleasure, right off the bat I could tell she really loves what she does. She also was able to completely help my daughter's skin and now we have our little girl back. Her eczema is under control and it's given me so much relief from all those sleepless nights worrying about her skin itching. Dr. Goodarzi is super sweet and super personable. She also provides Teladoc so, even though we are from out of state, we know we can always contact her if needed. Don't take your kids to this office. I have never seen a doctor calling a patient and yelling! I took my daughter to her office last Wednesday and she changed her antibiotics for her infected rashes. We couldn't get the new medication since it wasn't approved by insurance. So the pharmacy asked the doctor for alternatives and she didn't respond despite numerous attempts. Pharmacy asked me to follow up with the doctor. Waiting for 2 days and constantly leaving them a message, the nurse finally called and had no idea what was going on. She said that she will talk to the doctor and will get back to me. After 2 more days the doctor called and yelled at me that I have no place asking the staff for an update. She said the medication needs prior authorization that takes a week to approve and if we're in a rush we can see another dermatologist! I was so shocked. All I asked was just the medication for my daughter. It had already been 5 days since we were at her office and there appears to be no motivation or care to follow up by anyone. A simple call back explaining the wait period would have been sufficient. Completely unprofessional, rude and disrespectful! This Dr. raised her voice during the entire phone call and kept interrupting me while I was trying to explain what the situation was. I'm not sure if I could trust her diagnosis at this point. If you care about your kids and their skin, this office is not a place to go. read more

This was the worst experience. We waited for an hour for the doctor to come in. When she did come in, she was incredibly abrupt yelling that my son needed to trust her on multiple visits before she tried to lance a cyst (the entire reason we were there). My son said it was ok for her to try to lance it that day so we didn?t have to come back. She then told us to wait. We waited almost another hour and finally left after listening to her fight with another patient in the room next to us for an extended period of time. I paid the copay up front and then she billed my insurance as if she had performed the procedure (she did not). I tried to just let it go but then her office called threatening to send me to collections for an outstanding balance of $23.00. I am on day 2 of calling the office to try and get them to remove the charge as she has already been overpaid. Nightmare experience. On a side note, the office was dirty and there was a fly in our room that I could not get out. read more

This review is well overdue from my visit September 2024. I was in search of a pediatric derm for my son and was surprised to find they had an opening so soon! I was able to get an appointment for the following week when everyone else was booked months out. Was this too good to be true? Sadly yes. I made sure to ask the front office that this appointment is with Dr. Goodarzi. They confirmed yes. Cool, maybe I just got lucky with a cancelled appointment. On the day of the appointment I was greeted by a provider who did not introduce herself. I thought she definitely looked different from the website but figured my mind was playing tricks. She proceeded to list some pharmacological recommendations that were not appropriate for my infant. When I challenged her on this, she backtracked and decided it was probably not a good idea to proceed but she thinks she's seen pediatric derms do so. Ok? You seem really sure of yourself for someone who's allegedly board certified. When I left the appointment I double checked the website and saw the provider definitely was not Dr. Goodarzi. Then why do my son's medications say they're prescribed by her? I called the office to ask who we were seen by and was given the name Dr. Suzanne Mokhtari. Cool. Is she a dermatologist? No. I had a scheduled appointment with a Dr. Goodarzi, and got seen by Dr. Mokhtari, a general pediatrician. I don't know what's worse? The office scheduling me for one doctor and not communicating that I'd be seen by another? The provider falsely signing off on my visit as another Dr? I go to a derm office to be seen by a pediatrician. Great. I was just at his actual pediatrician a week ago who recommended a derm. I went in a circle and feel misled. Super unprofessional. I show up on time for my appointment with my 8 month old just to be told that the Dr woke up with a cough which is understandable and I appreciate her not wanting to get patients sick but a courtesy call would have been nice before driving 30 minutes to my appointment. Dr. Goodarzi is absolutely incredible! There are not enough words to express my deepest appreciation for what she did for my little one. Background before Dr. Goodarzi: my little one was misdiagnosed with droll rash by his ex-pediatrician so my husband and I treated it as drool rash. The medical advice of rubbing the area clean by this ex-pediatrician caused his eczema to flare up. When I say flare up, it was bad--all over his body--and it kept growing and getting more infected despite everything we tried per medical recommendations. We then noticed our once sleep-through-the-night baby waking up every 1-2 hours, screaming for us. We think the pain from the eczema would wake him up. So of course his affect was impacted He grew more quite and his emotional range was slightly muted except when he would cry and scream for us. He struggled with food exploration and eating. He even refused food that he used to devour pre-eczema flare up. When I said it was bad, it was bad. And our ex-pediatrician was giving us the worse advice to treat it. So, my husband and I were desperate to help our little one. We decided enough was enough and we did our own research to find someone who could help. My husband found Dr. Goodarzi on Yelp (thank you, Yelp!) and immediately called her office. Thankfully she had an opening less than a month away and of course we grabbed that appointment slot. The moment we met with Dr. Goodarzi, we knew we found the person who could help our little one. She immediately diagnosed him with eczema and put him on a topical treatment. We noticed an immediate improvement. Our little one's sleep is slowly improving. He is no longer screaming and crying out when he wakes up. He is eating now! His demeanor also changed. He is our smiling, giggling, and laughing baby who loves initiating and joining social interactions with others. It is amazing to see him come back, and I thank Dr. Goodarzi for helping our little one. I wish Yelp had a feature to add more stars because Dr. Goodarzi deserves all of the extra stars and more. My daughter had surgery recently for a cyst on her right forearm. I found Dr. Heidi to be extremely professional but also kind to her little patients. She spoke directly to my daughter so she could understand what was going on and what she had to do. This was my daughters first time having any kind of surgery so of course as a mother, I was worried. Dr. Heidi mentioned that some patients are put under so general anesthesia for the surgery and some have local injection of painkiller. For the Doctor of course it is easier if the patient is asleep so she can remove the cyst quickly. She mentioned general anesthesia is not good for children's brain development so if child can handle just local anesthetic then it s a route she would prefer. As a mother I found that to be very comforting. After speaking with the Doctor she really put me at ease and I knew I was in good hands. The day of the surgery, my daughter was a bit nervous at first . Dr. Heidi did a great job of speaking with her to distract her during the surgery. My daughter is healing now and we are following the doctors instructions to clear up the scar. If you have any Children's dermatology needs, do not hesitate. Dr. Goodarzi was fantastic with my 10 year old. She had a growth that had to be treated and ultimately removed. It was a very scary situation for my daughter with the needles and the removal. Dr. Goodarzi did a great job being patient and calm and reassuring her it was going to be ok, even through all the crying. She was very thorough, sending the tissue in for testing so we know what we were dealing with and overall it was a success. The procedure caused very little scarring and my daughter is much happier now that it's been removed. The office staff is also awesome, super helpful and accommodating. I came to Children's dermatology for my son's eczema issue. Since we had been there prior for my daughter and the Dr was good, I figured it would be best to come back for my son. This review is not about the Dr as we did not even get a chance to see her. My appointment was at 1:30pm and I finally got up to check my son in at 1:50pm. Yes I was technically late but not of my own doing. First, the parking lot for this facility is a joke. It takes about 10 minutes just to get through to get a ticket to park. Then, to actually park and walk to this facility is another trek. And technically I was there at 1:40pm but there was a line of people checking out, making new appointments. If I was a rude person, I would have pushed my way to the front just to check us in. After this whole ordeal to just check in, I was informed that my tardiness was considered a no-show and I was charged $50. I was told my the front desk that I "could" wait but we may not get even get seen. That everyone else ahead of me and behind me would have to get seen at their appointment times. I was never informed that being 20 minutes late would be considered a no show, I would have rather not shown up than go through that whole process just to be turned away. Frankly, that front office needs to figure their setup out. You shouldn't be checking people out in the same area people are checking in. I am being penalized for being polite and waiting my turn. Very poor customer service and bad experience overall. read more

My son has bad eczema since he was 2 months old, and now he is a year old. His skin condition was diagnosed as allergies related condition. We had blood work done to test for food allergy. Despite of preventative measures, his skin condition was still getting worst. His condition was so bad to the point he went to CHOC hospital on my first Mother Day with him. His eczema causes him to have lack of sleep, underweight, long sleeve shirts and pants, gloves and socks are wore all the time regardless of hot summer weather. After searching Dermatologist on Google, I've decided to put my bet to see Dr. Goodarzi. I'm glad that I did. Yesterday, I took my son to Children's Dermatology at Orange. As soon as Dr. Goodarzi looked at my son, she already knew how to treat my son's eczema. After a night of bleach bath and wet wrap, my son was able to get 8 hours of sleep for the first time in 10 months without constant waking up or scratching himself. This morning he is a happy baby. My son will see Dr. Goodarzi in a week, I'm hoping his eczema will fully resolved by then. I'm grateful to both Drs. at Children's Dermatology. I have to say that Dr. Heidi G. is STELLAR- she alone gets 5 star plus. I do , however, in good conscience, have to say that her office staff leaves a bit to be desired. They were not that helpful and a bit rude when posed with a question to which they did not know the answer. (I liken it to young cashiers that do not know how to add or subtract making change if the COMPUTERIZED register goes out-sheer panic.) THAT being SAID, PLEASE do not be DISSUADED from bringing your children to see her. Her level of ease and comforting manner with children are top-notch. Her knowledge in her field (she has a fabulously informative website as well) are first rate. Dr. Heidi is gentle and knowledgeable. She learned about our situation and then individualized a treatment plan for my daughters eczema needs. On both of my visits I was about 10 minutes late, however, the office staff was friendly and said it was okay. I visited the location in Orange in which I learned you have to park across the street and then walk to the building. The office staff gave me a parking voucher/or validated my ticket, can't remember the term they used but ask them so you don't have to pay for parking. Overall, 10/10 experience.
