My daughter had her 6 month well visit with Dr Perkins. I had scheduled with her because everyone seems to love her so much. I found Dr Perkins to be extremely condescending towards me when she found out that I did not plan to vaccinate my daughter. She lectured me and at the end of the appointment gave me the business card of another doctor in the practice and told me I would need to see the other doctor moving forward. I was so taken aback. Apparently all this doctor cares about is pushing vaccines on little babies. I'm disgusted. read more

Our kiddos have been seen at this location by Dr. Perkins for the past four years. The staff is great. I love the option to text to make/cancel appointments. Dr Miller is absolutely wonderful. The front desk staff is unprofessional. There are times where I have walked in and they don't even look up from their computers to check me in for multiple minutes - when they clearly know someone is there. I once heard a lady at the front desk complaining about having to call almost 18 year olds to remind them to switch from a pediatrician to an adult PCP. The medical assistants are not very professional either and do not have good bedside manner, speaking from being a healthcare worker myself. My worst experience and reason for writing this review is my negative experience with Sasha Belleza NP for lactation support. I had an initial appointment with her that went okay, then I had a follow up 3 weeks later when my baby hadn't gained sufficient weight. My milk supply had dipped and I needed breastfeeding support. She was extremely busy that day and didn't come in until after my baby had been latched for 20 minutes (not her fault) then we did the pre and post weight and my baby did not get hardly any milk. Her response to me was "I'm sorry, that sucks" and gave me no support or guidance to help the situation. I had her look at my pumping flanges and she said they looked fine. This was incredibly defeating and I felt truly helpless as it was a huge goal of mine as a mother to breastfeed and I felt incredibly unsupported with no guidance on what to do next besides supplement with formula. I later found a wonderful in home lactation consultant that helped my baby latch, as well as resized my nipple shield and flanges (that were way too big) I was using a 24 mm nipple shield that Sasha said was fine and my other lactation consultant sized me to a much more appropriate size, 16 mm. I'm so thankful I sought out outside support but I can't help but worry about other moms that have a similar experience and feel at a dead end for their breastfeeding journey like I had after I left that lactation appointment at Children's Primary Care. read more

Showed up for my daughters drs apt today. The rude lady up front asked for my insurance card which I gladly handed over. She stated she needed to verify my insurance (which they already had on file) and asked me to take a seat. Approx. 20 minutes later I was called up to the front desk. She stated she had verified my insurance and everything was fine but due to me being past my appointment time that I would have to now reschedule and wait until JUNE for a new appointment. How is that my fault that you are inadequate at your job and didn't verify the insurance that you already had on file(I asked and she said they already had it)! I will not be taking my kids back to this office. Not to mention, they never answer the phones and the people sitting at the front desk always have a crappy attitude. If you don't like your job, get a different one! Such a shame because the doctors are great but the office staff SUCK! 0/10. read more

I'm sure Dr. Perkins is lovely with people who share her views, but with my family and I that was not the case. My husband and I are fully vaccinated adults but for medical reasons chose not to vaccinate our very young children. I understand many doctors will refuse to see unvaccinated patients and for this reason, I called ahead of time to confirm she was not one of them. In fact, the receptionist who made the appointment for me told me that this doctor was perfectly fine with unvaccinated patients and that this doctor believed it was up to the parents to determine what was best for their children. I was thrilled. I don't know what that receptionist was smoking, but when we arrived for our appointment we quickly realized we were misinformed. Dr. Perkins not only questioned us about our decision not to vaccinate, but she proceeded to lecture us about how our children would never be admitted to any local schools or daycares if we did not vaccinate them. Then she made it pretty clear that she did not want to see us again and referred us to another doctor. She then took a look at my son and insisted he had scrotal hernias. Her exact words were "I could be wrong, but I don't think I'm wrong." I took my son to get an ultrasound, and as soon as the technician looked at him, he looked confused and told me immediately that there was nothing wrong with him. That's how confident he was. I said, "But what about the bulging the doctor was talking about?" He goes, "That's baby fat." Once the results officially came back, we never heard from her. I then called up the clinic and asked for the results over the phone and was told they came back normal. I asked why the doctor never called us, and the excuse was that she tried to send a message through the patient portal but didn't have a portal set up. I believe she was embarrassed, and she should be. What bothers me is not that she was wrong; it's that she insisted that she wasn't. This doctor is pompous and nasty, and I wasted time and money getting an ultrasound my son didn't need. I have cancelled all future appointments with this practice. read more

I love everything about Sanford Medical Group in Oceanside. We've been coming here since our 4 year old was a newborn and our pediatrician is Dr. Pertl. Over the years, and another child later, we've seen almost every doctor at Sanford, as well as their after hours clinic. I love the option of having the after hours clinic. Every doctor, assistant and nurse practitioner are beyond professional. The level of care is exceptional. I feel so lucky to have a team of doctors who are always there for my two children. Dr. Kramer and Dr. Miller are AMAZING. Dr. Miller is the only dr or person that got her an IEP and was TRULY interested and invested in her educational needs. I LOVE Dr. Kramer she truly cares about her patients and invests and gives my kids truly what they need. If my child has something going wrong, she says what is or could be and what I can do or what she is doing. She will follow up with you when it's needed and she just goes above and beyond. Ok, so I've always really liked this office for my daughter but now I kinda love it. My daughter just saw Dr. Kramer for the first time and she's ah-mazing. Smart, funny, and kind. Like, she's everything you want in a pediatrician. The other doctors are great, too, of course. We've also been impressed by Dr. Moreira and Dr. Pertl. But I may just have to jump through her insurance carrier's hoops to change my daughter's PCP because Dr. Kramer is that awesome. read more

My son as been coming here since he was born and we saw the staff from this office in the hospital. We LOVE all the doctors and their staff! We have had to take our son in a couple of times for being sick, beyond the normal check ups, and we have never met a Dr. or staff member we didn't like. Dr. Perkins is his pediatrician and I cant say enough good things about her! I trust her implicitly and she is extraordinarily easy to talk to. The wait times can get out of control, on occasion, however I just plan the appointments fist thing in the morning to avoid this issue. I've been taking my kids here since last year when we moved to the area. I thought I really couldn't find a Doctor who was just as good as my kids Pediatrician, but we did. Dr. Perkins is extremely wonderful and answers my questions before I leave; even if I forgot especially with 3 kids. She doesn't roll her eyes or anything like how can I forget. I would say the only downside is I'm sometimes waiting usually 45mins to an hour to see the Doctor. It sucks in a way because with 2 of my kids being 1.5 and 2, they don't like waiting very long and become impatient. Also, Doctor Perkins books quick, so it shows she's a really good Doctor and would recommend scheduling when you can. read more

My experience with this office is constantly filled with tension and frustration. I love Dr. Miller. If I was doing a review of him personally, it would be 5 stars. He is attentive and caring with my boys. The office culture, however, is another story. The intake people are nice but the wait times are beyond being unacceptable. I've been here for over an hour. I got here early to fill out papers and avoid being taken in late. But it didn't work. I'm not sure who needs to take responsibility for this. It's not the medical assistants or admin staff. They're nice and caring. But there is definitely a feeling of "business" in a medical office setting. I personally feel like I'm at the mercy of the medical group. They're not held accountable for their wait times or their business practices. I've tried talking to the office managers in the past but nothing has really changed. There is a systemic issue with the medical group of taking on too many patients and not having the appropriate staff. This makes it feel more like it's a profit driven office, in an industry that is about care, concern, and health. There are no mediums to share my thoughts and concerns so I took to Yelp. I hate having to do this but I feel like I don't have too many choices. What I'd like to see is for office to stay true to their word. If my appointment is at 9:40am, honor that. If you're going to be late, let us know you're running behind. If you're more than 20 minutes late, there's an issue. The office has made it a point for us to be on time. We also expect you to be on time and respectful of our time as well. I now have to switch meetings up and move around my schedule because the office is not managing their time well. If you can work on time management and honor the scheduled appointment, I would be happy to write a new review praising the changes. This review does not reflect our provider. We absolutely LOVE Dr. Miller. He will return phone calls and emails always the same day, he is very thorough and caring. However the front desk staff and billing department have got to go. They are very unprofessional they are always joking around amongst them self's rather than greeting and checking in patients. They all have very rude attitudes and act like you are bothering them by checking in to your appointment. Something needs to be done because the level of professionalism is far far below average and the customer service is non existent. They all seem like they hate their jobs. Please hire new more educated, friendly, kind people who care. read more

Dr. Perkins has been our primary care physician for almost 2 years and we couldn't be happier. She is very knowledgeable, patient, and kind; the kids absolutely love her! Having 3 kids you can imagine we go to many doctor's appointments. Seeing Dr. Perkins is always a pleasant experience. Outside of appointments, she is consistently quick to respond via the Rady's online portal with helpful answers to questions or to check up on the kids. Dr. Perkins has a way of connecting with each of my kids who vary in ages. She is very passionate about her job and the care she provides for her patients. This shows in her interactions with them as well as myself as the concerned parent. She listens to my concerns and is very easy to talk to. We are never waiting long to be seen and never feel rushed during appointments. She is efficient yet takes her time to ensure everything is looked at and all questions are answered. She is by far the best pediatrician we've ever had and we will be sad when we eventually have to move away. I recommend her to everyone I talk to who is looking for a pediatrician. I cannot say enough nice things about Dr. Perkins! read more

I've been coming here for a couple of years now and even switched health insurances when they stopped taking my previous holder. The only reason I'm still coming is because of the doctors and nurses they are always very comforting and super helpful. They make me feel like my children are a priority. However the front desk staff is literally the worst I've ever experienced. And it's not just that i went on a bad day it's every time I come in or call. They do not acknowledge you when you walk in the door ever, which is my biggest pet peeve. Then when you've been standing there waiting they have an attitude if you approach to tell them I've been waiting. I kid you not the last time I came in I was in a rush just dropping off a paper and as I'm waiting and waiting the two women at the front are literally talking to each other about how there's no more hazelnut creamer and she prefers that one. I'm like seriously!!!! So I approached the desk and said hi I've been waiting and she gave me the dirtiest look and said what do you need I was so pissed I just dropped off the paper and left because I didnt want to get nasty back with her (I would've hurt her feelings). Long story short the entire front team needs to be retrained on customer service and greeting or acknowledging people when they walk through the door because it's beyond ridiculous the one star is for my doctor. Dr. Pertl is amazing. We followed her from another facility and had to switch insurances to come here. The standard of care is excellent. The doctors (and we have seen several) really listen to the patients and never rush through an exam. The front staff is always wonderful, friendly, and helpful. I've never had an issue getting an appointment quickly, and it is rare that we have to wait more than 15-30 minutes to be seen. We love Rady Children's. They have quite literally saved my daughter's life on more than one occasion. read more

I agree with most others, the doctor we see for our children is great however I can't stand it when you are scheduled for an appointment and you are not seen till over an hour past the scheduled time. Today marks the second time I have arrived with my children early for a simple physical only to be stashed in a smaller room to wait over an hour to see the doctor! This is unacceptable! If you don't have the staff to facilitate the clients then please don't make appointments you cannot fulfill. I am always diligent in being on time and I expect that I would receive the same effort and concideration from my children's health care provider. I have been taking my kids to CPCMG for over 16 years and after today I will never come back. My daughter had an appointment at 4:30 for which we arrived in the office at 4:25. When we arrived the front office staff were busy and told me to sign in so I did. Fast forward to 5:05pm and no one had ever called us back to the front desk or to the back. The staff then started locking the doors and turning out the lights, so I asked when someone was going to call us back. You should've seen their faces, it was obvious that they never checked us in. After some whispering amongst each other and going to the back office, a medical assistant came to the front to tell me that my provider was no longer there and that I could go to the Vista office. Excuse me what? I told her that I had an appointment and wanted to be seen and asked if any other providers were in the building. As she is telling me no, two different patients come to the front to check out. So I said "there are literally 2 patients just now leaving and you mean to tell me that there are no providers in the building?". She went to the back again and i can hear them discussing whether or not i had actually signed in and telling the staff "well she said she signed in but I don't know". She then comes back only to tell me that none of the providers can see me and that I can go to urgent care or Vista office and she can try to see if they can get me an appointment there. I was so baffled by what happened. Someone clearly made a huge mistake and I, the patient, had to pay for it because no one in that office wanted to take an extra 10 minutes out of there day. The lack of customer service is mind boggling. The fact that several staff members walked by us in the lobby to lock the doors and began turning off lights and it never occurred to any of them that maybe they should inquire why a woman and her child were just sitting in the waiting room after they had closed? Also, the fact that they were completely concerned about whether or not I had signed in? Does it matter? I had an appointment and I'm here and whether or not I signed in is irrelevant at this point because the piece of paper I wrote my name on is now shredded. Not to mention the complete lack of initiative by anyone in that office to try to resolve the situation that was brought on by a staff member and was no fault of my own and just act like urgent care is a decent solution? Do you're self a favor and do not waste your time here. Find another Dr's office where they actually care about their patients. read more

We've been coming to CPCMG/RCHSD for 20 years. My youngest is 16 and we both LOVE Dr. Perkins. She is fantastic with teenage girls and her communication style puts my daughter at ease. She is brilliant, and has impeccable credentials. But it's her personality, which can never be taught in med school, which puts earns her 5 stars. My son is a new patient here as of the beginning of the year. We have already been seen three times here once for a wellness check up and two times for being sick. While we have really enjoyed each doctor and nurse we've seen, the wait times are ridiculous. For an example, today we were not see until an hour and ten minutes after our appointment time. I am a very patient person, but when you have a sick child and a life to live the rest of the day, waiting around for that long is not an easy thing to do. If the doctors are running behind, the office staff needs to step up and make phone calls to notify patients their appointment time is bumped. If my review was based on the doctors it would be a 4 or 5, but the wait times, a zero. read more

Unfortunately my special needs son aged out of the office when he became an adult. Unfortunately because Dr. Miller is a wonderful pediatrician and the CPCMG staff was so kind and understanding with our special challenges. Over the many years we were with the office many variations of those challenges arose, and Dr. M and staff were extremely creative and effective in their solutions.
