I finally had the opportunity to come back to this restaurant last night with my college buddies for our hangout. I had to call the restaurant to make reservations because online they don't accept if the party is bigger than 4 guest and we were a party of 6. I got a text that our table was ready early and since we were already there early, I checked in and got seated. Our waiter was Hugo and he was amazing with his awesome customer service. They will give complimentary bread to start off. I got the churrascos de Lomo which is 2 filet mignon at 6oz and I asked for it to be at medium rare. It also comes with fries and I asked for the chimichurri butter to be on the side. My friends got the entrana gaucha steak which is the grilled skirt steak, Steak Buenos Aires which is skirt steak with rich mushroom sauce and milanesa de Lomo which is a crispy, breaded tenderloin steak. Our food didn't take long to come out and when they did, we all loved our dish. The taste, texture and presentation was all amazing. It has been a while since I came to the Buenos Aires Grill. This Argentinian restaurant has been a popular ethnic food fixture and is located on Corbin, in Northridge. They are sought after for their Empanadas. However, they also have an interesting menu that encompasses both lunch and dinner Argentinian favorites. Come here and the ambiance and music transports you quickly, to Argentina. This time, I was interested to try one of their $15 lunch specials. My eyes honed on the chicken paella. Unfortunately, they were out of it, apparently for the past few weeks. So my next choice was the grilled filet of Merluza, a dish I have never had before. Merluza, is a white fish that is popular in Spain and Latin America. The dish could be served with either french fries or a salad. I chose the former. The fries came out cold. I sent it back and requested a fresh batch. When they reappeared, I got thinner sticks of potato, maybe the bottom of the batch, that were hard and unimpressive. The fish though, was not bad. It was different, had a mild, but definitive texture and was grilled optimally to keep its soft body intact. There was color and a mild, but flavorful sauce on top. We made a reservation for 3:30 and were not seated until 4:00 with no acknowledgment or apology from the staff. Once seated we ordered immediately and waited over an hour for our food with no updates, no check ins, and no apologies. The restaurant was half empty the entire time. I have visited Malbec and Lala many times and have never had an experience like this. The service needs significant improvement. Staff appeared disengaged and inattentive despite having very few tables to manage. We drove an hour specifically to try this restaurant. The food was also disappointing, extremely salty. The calamari which was recommended to us had to be sent back because it was extremely salty. The skirt steak was also a miss unfortunately. Really wanted to like this place. We did speak with the general manager who apologized and explained that the chef was a no show, leaving him to handle everything himself. We appreciated his honesty and he did provide complimentary desserts which we appreciated. That gesture is the reason we are leaving 3 stars. read more

To try the best of the menu we got the Parilla pampas. The meat was wonderfully flavorful and filling. The Cesar salad and fries were both tasty and delicious accompaniments. Very enjoyable dinner at the BAG. Because I grill my own steaks at home at 1/3 of the price charged at most steak houses, if I do eat out at a steakhouse, I prefer Argentinian or Brazilian style since they offer a variety of cuts. We got two different parrillas. Both very hearty, tasty and reasonably priced. My wife usually skips skirt steak but she actually liked it here. Flanken short ribs were also excellent. Love the short rib empanadas. Good selections of Argentinian Malbec and blended wine by the glass. Fast and friendly service. We decided on Buenos Aires Grill for Valentine's Day and we are so glad we did! My husband made a reservation, and we overheard that there was an hour and a half wait but we were seated immediately in a cozy booth. The restaurant feels like a great spot to catch a soccer game. They had a special going on with a fixed menu but my heart was set on their steak with chimichurri butter and it did not disappoint. We started off with the empanadas beef and spinach, which were absolutely delicious! For dessert, we had the tiramisu, and it was the perfect ending to the meal. Stopped by Buenos Aires Grill on a busy Saturday (Valentine's day) without a reservation and waited around 30 minutes. Service was lovely and so friendly which I appreciated. Loved the complimentary bread with chimichurri sauce and tomatoes! What we ordered: Breaded calamari with marinara and tartar sauce - super tasty and a very generous portion, perfect for sharing. I just wish they were a bit crispier Parrilla Completa - includes skirt steak, short rib flanks, grilled chicken breast, and marinated grilled shrimp skewers. The dish is shareable and meant for 2 people. Loved the presentation, and it comes with fries and a small salad! For our mains, the Bucatini Alfredo con Pollo was rich, creamy, and so good I cleaned my plate. My husband's Bife Ancho (ribeye) was cooked perfectly and had a great crust, seasoned nicely with what tasted like rock salt. The fries on the side were a pleasant surprise, like a thicker, heartier version of In-N-Out fries. We chose Buenos Aires Grill for my fiancée's birthday last night, excited for some classic Argentine parilla vibes. The restaurant has a cozy, low-lit atmosphere that's great for a special occasion, and we were seated promptly. Our server, Ariel started off really friendly and attentive, he was quick with drinks and made us feel welcome right away. We ordered calamari to start (which was solid), a glass of sangria, a beer, and the Parrilla Completa for two with rice and spinach as sides. The food was okay overall, the meats were decent, but the creamed spinach wasn't great (a bit bland and underwhelming for the price). Things went off track when we asked for the dessert menu. Our server said to "trust him" for a birthday surprise and that he'd handle it. We thought that sounded fun! About 20 minutes after finishing our meal, he brought out two crepes and two cups of ice cream. No candle, though, so we asked about it for singing happy birthday, he said he'd grab one and headed back. We waited another 15 minutes or so, he checked in without the candle, and we gently reminded him (we didn't want to make a scene). Another 10 minutes passed, and he finally brought a flan with a candle, a nice gesture, but now we had way more dessert than we wanted or ordered (we'd only asked for one). We went along with it to keep the night positive since we were enjoying our conversation anyway. The biggest frustration came with the bill. We waited another 15 minutes just for the check. When it arrived, we were hit with unexpected charges: $2 for bread and chimichurri (which was brought out automatically with the appetizer, we assumed it was complimentary like at most places), $8 each for the two ice cream cups (we thought everything was part of one "surprise" dessert), and a $4 kitchen tip on top of the regular server tip. We never ordered or agreed to any of these extras, and the total ended up quite a bit higher than the ~$100 we budgeted ($175 total with taxes, tips !plural! and extra charges.) The forgetful service (long waits, forgotten candle, surprise double dessert) turned what could have been a sweet birthday moment into a drawn-out one. The food was average, and the added charges felt sneaky. We wanted to celebrate, not chase down basics or question the bill. Probably won't return for a special occasion, unfortunately. read more

Celebrated my aunt's 60th here on Saturday. Food was good but service was ridiculously bad. Our waiter's name was Ariel I think? Initially I thought it was just my side of the table that had a bad experience but apparently it was the same across the board. - When we got there he told us there was no rush. Then he told us again, and again, and again, until it was clear he wanted us to hurry up. - Failed to put my order in so ended up just having empanadas. - We had a special needs person in our party. The mom asked if he could sub fries for mashed potatoes. Apparently he said no, the dish comes with mashed potatoes and if you want fries it'll be an extra charge. - We ordered some empanadas to go and the person who ordered them asked for chimichurri on the side. He said no, in Argentina you don't eat empanadas with chimichurri, so if you want some you'll have to pay $7.50 for a full jar. I'm pretty sure I'm missing some stuff but after all of this he still asked for an extra tip on top of the included tip for our large party, and a Yelp review, so here it is. We had been driving for 30 minutes to reach Buenos Aires Grilled, and we really like the food there. However, when we arrived, the restaurant was busy. There were three empty tables, and some gentlemen who were seated in front of us decided to move because they felt cramped. They moved to a larger table. When it was our turn, the host only suggested a small two-person table that was right next to the hostess area, which we declined. However, he never mentioned the table that the other people had just vacated. It's important to clarify that in this establishment, they do sit two people at a four-person table without any problem, as they are accustomed to doing so. We are regular customers, and the host did not suggest the larger table to us; instead, he told us we would have to wait about fifteen minutes. At that point, he suggested we take a walk. I decided to stay and wait. Behind us, a family of five came in, and this person offered them that table as if nothing had happened. When I noticed this, I confronted him and asked why he offered that table to them when we were in front of them. He simply told me that he rarely offered that table because it was cramped. I pointed out that I had seen him seat some gentlemen there and then move them to another table, but he never offered it to us, only to the people behind us. Honestly, this felt discriminatory because we had driven half an hour to get there, and this person was the owner. Imagine the kind of disrespect shown to customers. We were regular customers -- or at least we were, because after this discrimination and poor treatment, we won't be returning.
