Stopped by Hat Creek Burger Company in Buda for their "Wear Burnt Orange for a FREE Cheeseburger to…read moreCelebrate the Sweet 16!" promo. They were giving away a FREE Little Hat Burger when wearing Burnt Orange. Parking was a bit challenging to find because there was a crowd there for the promo. The place was very busy and the line was very long, but the staff was friendly and efficient in keeping the line moving when taking orders. It took some time before I received my burger because of all the orders. The free Little Hat burger was very tasty and I got my burger with cheese and added all the toppings. This restaurant also has amazing tater tots that are fried crispy with just the right texture. The restaurant has a playscape on site that is always popular with family and children. Hat Creek is always a solid go-to for a casual meal, especially with the family-friendly setup and outdoor space.

PROS: -They offer many gluten free options that most other…read moreplaces do not. -Family friendly. -They serve alcohol. CONS: -They close at 9p. -Minimal indoor seating. -The food is good when it's good, but often times it is not. The quality and portion sizes vary with each trip. Sometimes the onion rings are great, but sometimes you only get half the portion or it's a soggy mess. The salads are great, but sometimes the salad is a full container and sometimes it's half empty. -The service here is just service, but barely. Half the time, there's no one at the register. They really want you to use the kiosks so they don't have to interact with the customers. The drive-thru is just as bad. Someone will be at the window to hand off your food, but they immediately disappear so it takes a while to get your order fixed if something is wrong with it. Overall, they really don't seem to care. They're more focused on their social media presence and app then the customer experience. There are much better options in this town.

We were able to score a table under the tent, not far from the fire pit so it was nice and cozy on a cool day at 50°. There is also a big screen TV nearby nestled above a stage. There was plenty of seating under the tent. Just outside of the tent was a little bar and more seating, there was another big fire pit outside of the tent as well. There's another bar in the main building and the crawfish boil ordering area is outside as well. It's set up really great with lots of seating outside and there's even seating inside where the bar is. The line to get the crawfish was not long we only had one person ahead of us. We did a build your own boil bag with 3 lb of crawfish, half pound of shrimp, half pound of crab legs, with 1 sausage, 2 potatoes, 2 corn & some little mushrooms. Paid just a little over $80 for that. The crawfish was good with really good flavor and spice, But most of them were still pretty small due to the season. The shrimp was good! The crab legs were not the best, a bit salty and fishy. I wouldn't order them again. Next time I would just order the crawfish and possibly shrimp. Seasoning really was good and just the right amount of spice! Anyhoo, This was our first Crawfish boil of the season, looking forward to many many more.

There's an easy-going vibe here like you're just hanging out while enjoying food, cold beer, and company. We tried the taco truck and found it to be above average. The beers were icy cold, and the shade of the trees was welcome on yet another hot evening in Texas. There was live music and plenty of seating. I would recommend you give it a try if you're in the area! Cheers!

My…read morehusband and I along with our daughter, son-in-law, and grandson planned to have dinner with hubby's sister & brother & respective families. It was a good spot for a reunion. The downside was that it was extremely noisy. We ordered & our food came out pretty quickly. I don't know about anybody else but I had the best fried catfish ever! The cornmeal batter was crunchy & flavorful but that fish was light, flaky & delicious! I have been craving catfish and this exceeded my expectations! I had a side of corn that was very good. The portions were generous & I ended up taking leftovers home. Yay me! Kudos to our server for working so hard for us as we were a big group of 11 people. This young lady was efficient and attentive. We found it difficult eating because we were catching up after not seeing each other in a while. This is a friendly, rustic, casual vibe & a place you'd expect in Texas. Would love to return here before flying back to CA

A manager made eye contact and turned away. After a few minutes, I approached the bar for drinks to be told they couldn't serve me from the bar. I had to wait for a nonexistent server. A few minutes pass and a young fellow hands us a menu and walks off. We'd planned on eating too. It's 20 minutes now. Finally someone brings water. We decide to order drinks only. We are skipping dinner here now. It's been 10 more minutes and no drinks. Buda has too many nice options. Save yourself a headache and choose a place that cares about hospitality. This place doesn't care.
