Yesterday my husband and I went into the Chili Hills in Moriarty. We live in Edgewood and I've been to the EW location but my husband had never been to either. Our waitress was kind, prompt, and attentive. Made jokes about ruining my coffee to cream ratio i could hear her in the kitchen saying "it's OK! We'll get through this!" Not much in this town when it comes to eats. I stopped here because it is local and seems many of them come here. Ordered the biscuits and gravy with side of sausage. If I had known it is a gravy and sausage thing I would have went for bacon. So the food is decent, sorry not great. Hash browns were burnt. Biscuits tasted good and the portions will not disappoint. They say there is green chili. I'll have to try the next time through. I will be back for a few reasons. It is local and only tried one thing off the menu. We stopped in for dinner based on the glowing Yelp reviews, and they were absolutely right. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with genuine warmth and friendliness. The vibe was laid-back and local, with just a few other diners--it is Moriarty, after all--but the service was top-notch. Hubby was thrilled to see they serve all-day breakfast, so he went for the pancakes, and I ordered the combo fajitas (chicken and steak). While waiting, they brought out chips and salsa. The salsa was a bit too spicy for me, but no problem--they happily brought ranch dressing instead. Win! The food portions? HUGE. My fajitas were sizzling perfection--tender meat, just the right amount of peppers and onions, and all the fixings: guac, lettuce, cheese, salsa, tomatoes, and soft flour tortillas. So good. Five big ol' flavor booms. Hubby gave the pancakes two thumbs up--and he's picky about his pancakes, so that's saying something. Two hearty meals, drinks (yay for Diet Dr. Pepper!), friendly service, and all for around $45. Totally worth it. We'd go out of our way to eat here again on our return trip. Cute little restaurant right off the interstate. Has truck parking or there is a TA truck stop across the street that you can walk over from. They do charge 3.5% card fee so don't forget your cash like we did. It's seat yourself and there's plenty of tables and booths to choose from. The dining room and restrooms were very clean. We were promptly greeted and received our drinks. They serve breakfast all day and have a variety of items on the menu. It's a good mix of New Mexico food meets traditional cuisines. I opted for the chili rolleno plate which comes with 2 sides. They are lightly breaded and packed full of cheese. Only downside is the peppers were a little stringy. The beans and potatoes were amazing had great flavor hot and fresh. The green and red sauces are both flavorful and great addition to the dish. Chips and salsa were good but I do think the salsa is out of jar but it's not a deal breaker by any means. Hubby got the huevos rancheros he said his food came out super hot and fresh. The carnitas was shredded which made it easy to eat. The eggs were cooked perfectly. He would absolutely recommend giving this a try. Chili Hills MORIARITY. Went there for the first time on a Friday evening. Chips and queso for the appetizer. Very good and I bet they make those chips in-house. Had the crispy taco plate of three with shredded beef (beef sourced in NM per the server). Rice was great, beans were great, and the tacos were crispy, awesome and meat was very flavorful. Thursday, June 26. The service five stars our waitress extremely helpful and friendly. The coffee fabulous the fountain drink tastiest one I've ever had out of a fountain. The food F U N K Y . We were really disappointed we've been to this this establishment in the past and it was just a diamond in the rough sadly to say the diamond is still really rough. The food what we ordered was outrageously expensive I don't believe our scrambled eggs or omelette or even real eggs the omelette was so greasy with the meat inside it was not edible. The potatoes were fabulous though the biscuits were divine. The gravy was disgusting. With just a little bit more care and a little attention to the food. Great little restaurant along the main drag. The senior menu is very cheap. You can get a burger and a big cup of fruit for only $7. They serve a large grilled cheese sandwich and some tasty Mexican food along with many other menu choices. The server was very nice and polite. We were passing through on a road trip and my mom had the idea to stop here. Her ideas are usually great. This one was not. This restaurant was disgustingly filthy. The service was slow even when it was practically empty, the place was full of flies, and the food was deplorable. Half the restaurant was closed and we're told we could seat ourselves. We found our seat and did get drinks, but for not being very busy, we still waited 20 min before they came back to take order. When we did order, there menu does have several accommodations for small appetites but apparently hamburgers is not one of those and ordering a small kids meal is not allowed unless your are under ten or over 65, that already doesn't sound like a kids menu if the elderly can order from it so why would a small person with a small appetite not be allowed also? It made no sense it was not very accommodating. Finally, it seems like the staff likes to open carry for some reason which seems kind of unsafe around families during dinner time. Are they trained to be safe with them? Are they unhinged? What if a customer has a disagreement with the staff, do they plan to use fear and force to solve the problem? Waitress didn't put in one order and when they brought our other 4 orders out, she went to check on it and then came back and asked what she ordered. We ate our entire meal, 30 minutes, she still hasn't gotten her meal. We ask another waiter and he checks and says they will start making it now. It was ordered 30 minutes ago when we got our food!! Keep in mind we ordered our food 45 mins before that. We are now held hostage waiting for this quesadilla to be made. Absolutely outrageous and even though the staff was nice, it was ridiculous that the quesadilla got put in the back of the line behind all the other tables' orders (10+) that came in after us. We just drove 10 hours today and are utterly exhausted and just want to go to our hotel and rest. Do not come here. Chaotic and just terrible experience. We had breakfast on our way west to California and lunch on our way back East a few days later. I had the chicken fried steak breakfast with two eggs over medium, hash browns and two biscuits. The steak had a lovely crispy coating and the steak was tender and flavorful with a wonderful creamy gravy. The eggs were perfect with the white cooked all the way through and a runny yolk and.
