    Barbacoa Tacos

Quaint corner restaurant just north of the main square. While they have some indoor seating, most people opt to enjoy the weather and people watching outside shaded by the umbrellas. Margaritas were authentic and well prepared. Chicken quesadilla while the ingredients were simple it was very tasty and satisfying and served with all the traditional sides including a VERY spicy red sauce and flavorful green sauce. The barbacoa tacos were generously filled and delicous. Service was prompt and friendly!

Top is Barbacoa taco, other 2 are chicken tacos

Great little spot downtown near convention center. You order at the counter and they bring the food to you. Service was great and food came out quickly. Ingredients were all very fresh. We shared the chicken tacos and barbacoa tacos. The flavors were good, but the meat was a little dry. The sauces on the side made it fun to try a few different flavor combinations. The food I saw at other tables looked good. So, I hope I get the chance to go back and try something else on the menu before I leave Santa Fe.

Fresh, colorful tacos and a fun tequila tasting in Santa Fe! During a recent visit to Santa Fe, I stopped by Tres Colores and it turned out to be one of those unexpectedly great meals that makes you want to come back again the next time you're in town. I ordered the taco plate, and the presentation alone was impressive. Three warm corn tortillas were piled high with a vibrant mix of ingredients. The toppings were fresh and colorful, and everything tasted light but incredibly flavorful. The tacos were served with two different house salsas, one red and one green. To go along with the meal, I tried a tequila tasting flight served with lime and orange wedges and a sprinkle of salt on the board. The atmosphere at Tres Colores is relaxed and welcoming. The restaurant is known for serving authentic Mexican cuisine inspired by regions like Veracruz and Oaxaca using fresh ingredients and bold flavors. Service was friendly and the food came out quickly, which made the whole experience feel easy and enjoyable. It's the kind of spot where you can sit down, have a great meal, and not feel rushed. If you're looking for fresh tacos, flavorful salsas, and a casual spot for good tequila, Tres Colores is absolutely worth a stop.

Tried this place when passing through on a road trip. They had a covered patio, which was perfect for our kiddo who can be a crab about sitting outside if it's sunny. Our service was very friendly + helpful. I also loved that everything on the menu was clearly marked regarding gluten. I ordered fish tacos, which is not typically my go-to, but they looked super good + they absolutely did not disappoint. Also got an aqua fresca that tasted like a mojito. My husband and son were both super happy with their food too. Would definitely return.

Stopped here fresh off a plane and had three excellent barbacoa tacos. The salad was beautiful and it was nice to sit outside. Food was very clean tasting and fresh and colorful. Service was very friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend if you're looking for something outside of the usual plaza tourist trap places.

Small place, fairly busy. But had enough seating for the crowd. Seated by the staff, order at the counter and food delivered by staff. Definitely hole in the wallish, my fav kind of place. Chicken Mole enchiladas wife's fav. Nice flavor, with tender chicken. Me? When it comes to Mexican food I'm all over the place. Opted for the Asada Fajitas. Overall they were ok. Meat was bland. It lacked flavor. No real spices tasted. On the other hand the accompanying veggies were excellent with flavorful seasonings. Sadly price vs quality didn't match.

I ordered green posole and unsweetened ice tea for dinner . The posole was delicious I loved that this version was with green chili and chicken (healthier and lighter version). Diners go to the counter order drinks and food , the staff brings the food to the table . It's a small mom and pop restaurant, staff is nice and attentive to diners . It can get pretty busy and crowded during dinner . No reservations needed. I do recommend if dining for dinner get there before the crowds .

    Shrimp tacos and Mexican Coke

Genuinely the best shrimp tacos I've ever had. I'll be thinking about them until I can come back. I believe them when they say the shrimp is wild caught! The Mexican Coke was perfect to wash them down. I love that they're a little off the beaten path of the plaza, which made it easier to avoid crowds. Service was also so friendly! I'm so glad I found this place!

Tres Colores is FANTASTIC! The service is warm and professional, the atmosphere is casual, and the food is among the best New Mexican I've had. The mole is made by co-owner Rosario, because, as her husband and co-owner and host Pedro says, "She is the only one with the patience to make it." Her patience shows. I kid you not, it is deep and dark and beyond! Your enter and get seated, get a menu, and approach the counter when ready to order. We started with guac, salsa and chips. They come with excellent guac and three salsas, each interesting and inviting. Oh, and we each had a Perfect Margarita. The name fits. For our entrees, I ordered the chicken mole enchilada (with rice and beans) and my wife ordered the shrimp tacos. We loved each. Toward the end, and after my wife's fork was constantly in my plate, we exchanged plates. I had one taco, using the salsas a dips. Fantastic. My wife couldn't stop praising the beans. We finished with some of the sugar/anise butter cookies. We will be back, and you should go.

    Nachos (we ordered without meat)

Stopped by for a margarita after a day of traveling. It definitely hit the spot! Santa Fe is known for their silver coin margarita and yep, this is the place to get one! Shared an order of nachos with my girlfriends and am happy to share that they were delicious! I wish I would've had time to visit a second time! Definitely stop here for a drink!

Beef enchiladas- 7.8/10. Sauces were good but that was it.

I really wanted to like this place, especially seeing it's a small family run restaurant. We ordered the chips/salsa/guac in which the guac was awesome! The salsas it came with were unfortunately lacking flavor. Our main dish was the beef enchiladas with beans and rice. Good flavors in the green and red sauce that covered the enchiladas, but other than that, somewhat disappointing. The beef in the enchiladas was a rough chewy carne and the beans and rice lacked flavors. Service was great though and appreciate the hustle of the workers there. Wish I had a better flavor experience.

Unfortunately I was highly disappointed by food and service. I ordered fish and shrimp taco. The food wasn't bad but it's didn't come with a side of salsa or any sort of sauce. It did comes with a side of rice which I felt was under seasoned. The service was slow. I walked in around 1pm and door was locked. I was surprised to find them close even though online says that they are open at 11am that day. I checked on google and it was suppose to be open. I called and they said that they are open but waiting for alcohol to be delivered at 3pm. Did they assume that every customer coming in is ordering alcohol? As far as I understand this is a restaurant that serves food and alcohol and not a bar. Shortly after my arrival, there was a large tour with 12 people showed up. I could see that the waiter was a bit flustered because he also had to tend to other customer as well as the tour. I guess this is where the tour take people for authentic taco experience. In my opinion these are more toned down gringo tacos. My taco didn't come with a side of sauce like everyone else. I also noticed that the tour all received a side of salsa which I didn't. I'm not sure if the waiter forgot. I had to flag down the waiter a few time because he also forgot my drink. I also ordered an agua Fresca watermelon and it wasn't made of real watermelon but flavor syrup from the bar. I wished I had known that it wasn't real melon. 2.5 stars for the food and 2 for service. Again food wasn't terrible, but certainly wasn't close to be the best.

I have been coming here for thirty-five years, and it blows my mind that after more than three decades, it keeps reaching new heights while fiercely retaining everything that made it legendary in the first place: the unbeatable high quality, the remarkably affordable prices, and those effortlessly cool, historic vibes. It is a rare, beautiful gem that refuses to compromise its soul, and I cannot recommend it highly enough. This visit was extra special because my fiancé was a first-timer, and he was instantly converted, falling just as madly in love with the magic of this place as I did decades ago. On this particular afternoon, the lines were wrapped around the courtyard and the energy was absolutely electric. It was hella busy, which is a testament to how beloved this institution remains. Rather than waiting for a table, we decided to grab our food to go--a move that turned out to be pure perfection. We took our feast over to the historic plaza square, found a spot to sit, and ate under the shade of the trees while listening to live music drift through the air. With a beautiful, cool mountain breeze rustling through the plaza, it was the most quintessential, magical Santa Fe experience you could ever ask for. As for the food, it remains an absolute revelation. I ordered my enchiladas "Christmas" style, split right down the middle with both their famous, deeply savory red chile and their bright, perfectly spiced green chile. The first bite instantly reminded me why no one else can touch what they do here. The blue corn tortillas were tender, the cheese was perfectly melted, and the chiles carried that robust, earthy, authentic New Mexico heat that warms you from the inside out. It is a flawless execution of culinary tradition. To be able to deliver that level of world-class, scratch-made perfection at a price point that still feels incredibly generous is nothing short of a miracle. Whether you sit in their enchanting, labyrinthine dining rooms or pack it up for a picnic on the square, The Shed is the absolute pinnacle of the Santa Fe spirit.
