One of my grandfathers favorite restaurants. The last meal he ate out at was here; and I'm sure it was either biscuits and gravy or the juevos rancheros. Living in a small town you get to know the locals, and I know the people here loved him/vice versa. He always enjoyed saying he'd had a cup with his name on it here! It's been about a year since he passed and I haven't been back since but I saw this in my draft. When I went last, the cooks were accommodating of my request to cut the bacon into small pieces and include it in my pancakes. LOVED IT! It's a diner. That's the ambience. Diner. A fairly good one with good service and reasonable food at palatable prices. There's a lot of "New Mexico" food here but I've been able to find things to eat without chili anyway. I've been satisfied every time I've been here. Worth a visit. Oh... and don't be afraid to order water. Edgewood water is miserable to drink. I don't know what they do here but the water is perfectly acceptable to drink. read more

It was a great small town diner! I had the breakfast enchiladas, with red and green chili sauce, with 2 eggs on top and some hash browns. It fit the spot exactly what I was looking for! And it wasn't too expensive, although they did charge extra for using credit card. Some cops were having breakfast and that's always a good sign. New management. Took the wife to dinner. The ribeye steak was so bad she thought it might be rotten meat. She didn't dare take a second bite. The baked potato was so cold it didn't even try to melt the butter. Normally, she loves okra. Couldn't eat it either. I had the 'all you can eat fish. Apparently, all you can eat is three small pieces. Taste good though. Except the tartar sauce. Yuck. It's a shame, but we won't be back. We'll drive the extra 25 miles to Albuquerque and get an edible meal. read more

Thrilled to discover this East Mountain gem located in Edgewood...loved this lil place, just what we were looking for, complete with all my favorite "diner" feels. My two friends and I stopped at Chili Hills restaurant for dinner on June 19th 2024. I ordered the fried chicken dinner and my friends ordered the fried cat fish dinner. The meat/fish were both very dry and tasteless as were all the sides (broccoli, Okra, potatoes). The food looked unappealing but it was almost 8:00 pm and we were hungry so we ate some of it. The table water was served without ice and tasted like tap water which looked cloudy and the table felt sticky. The only saving grace this restaurant had was the salad and the the two waitresses that served us with enthusiasm and a friendly smile. I can't imagine how this restaurant got 4 stars, except that perhaps the rating is for breakfast only or includes all the Chili Hills chain restaurants in New Mexico. I would have given this place a one star but the waitresses did their best to try and make up for what the food lacked. read more

We normally have a positive experience at chili hills. However, this time was sadly not. My aunt, mother, and I all walked into this place and were seated. The server was rude and eventually took our orders. The food was good. We all got breaking items. However, behind a picture, there was a cockroach that we saw crawling out of the frame. We loved this place when it was run by a gentleman named Carl, back in the day. Since he left we unhappily report that the food has been mediocre at best, and the place is filthy, including the kitchen, which is visible from the front door. We have seen roaches more than once. Oh, and we have wound up with food poisoning several times. We have tried to give this restaurant "just one more chance" each time the owners have changed, because we support local businesses, but this is not the restaurant it used to be. The fries perfect the home fries perfect the chicken fried steak perfect bigger than your freaking head well depends on the size of your head but I have an enormous head. Celest was amazing in her service. My sons western burger came with onion rings on the burger and bacon and a touch of gods love. The bun is absolutely perfect I could've just eat the bun but they included meat too, bonus. I have no idea how this place got a 4 star rating. The bus boy who had just started and was only there for his second day had WAY better customer service than our waitress who was an older lady with eyebrows that looked tattooed on (she never gave us her name). We aren't locals here and wanted to try this place out. The only person who enjoyed and ate his food was my 6 year old son. He got French toast with bacon eggs and hashbrowns. My husband got the chicken fried steak breakfast which he said was under seasoned and didn't have the heart to tell our waitress that. He barely ate half of his plate. I got cheese enchiladas with red sauce with beans and rice on the side. I'm not normally a red sauce person so when I asked the waitress how it was and how it tasted all she had to say was "good". The beans were "ok" and the rice was actually pretty bad. For this to be a New Mexico local restaurant I had very high expectations for the food but was let down. The rice tasted like the rice you would get from a microwaveable bag of rice and like straight tomato, no other flavor at all. The red sauce tasted like a very empty non flavored spicy sauce but at the same time tasted like straight tomato (the spicy part was the only thing saving them) when the waitress came back to ask me about the red sauce I told her my honest opinion to which she replied with attitude "well there's no tomato so.." and just walked off without offering any type of solution or replacement, there was no seasoning or anything on any of mine or my husbands food. I ate one enchilada that's it. Her overall attitude killed my entire vibe for that place, she was not helpful whatsoever, she had terrible customer service, when she would come back to the table she only made it a point to ask my husband how his food and everything was and how he was doing up until the last minute she asked me how my food was. She was terrible and bc of her we will not be coming back to this place anytime we are here. She got a $3 tip and if it was entirely up to me she would've gotten $0-$1. She did not deserve to be tipped at all. We would've tipped our busboy a decent tip if it was an option and he wouldn't have to share it with the wait staff. read more

Usually love going to Chili Hills for breakfast, but this time was rough. Only one waitress so the service was slow (though I do not blame her obviously). The eggs were good for my huevos rancheros but the hash browns were uncooked. Grilled brown on the top but raw in the middle. Quality of food depends on who's cooking that day. I have been served spoiled food here more then once.

I ordered the fried French toast (which was delicious), but they forgot the bacon, which was the only reason I upgraded to their larger French toast meal. My partner also added bacon to his burger for an additional cost, which was also missing. We ordered online so they should have received the order as we input it. If they were out of bacon, they could have called and asked what to substitute or refunded us the up-charges. Just not sure why both of our meals were missing the bacon! Would've given 5 stars if they hadn't taken our money! read more
