I was scared because I'd the reviews I seen, but I realized sometimes things just happen. As this being a new place in Merced they deserve some grace to find their footing! I just want to say l am a regular here. My husband and l always walk into the bar area grab a high top no problem. I was very disappointed this last time l went with one of my friends to have drinks for my birthday. We walked in went to grab a table in the bar and we were rudely told we couldn't sit there. There was a 5 minute wait when there was no one waiting. We waited 5 minutes then we're told we had to wait on the bartender who wasn't there. It was 1:30 and we couldn't even sit at a table and wait....really???We finally left and went to Destino's and it was great. Ran into 2 other couples who showed up after walking out of Chili's also! Haven't even sat down yet and already failing. We came in as a party of 7 and the wait was 30 min. When asked if we could split into two tables, we were told no. When asked if we had come in as two separate parties, (3 top and 4 top), would we have been seated right away and the answer was yes. Don't come in here to eat after nine pm unless you want to smell the cleaner as they spray in anticipation of their closing at 10, They are sweeping and moving chairs noisily as we wait for our dinner. Wait staff are horrendous! Waited on waitress for too many items ranging from silverware and straws to the simple queso dip. When the queso finally showed up it looked greasy and my wife got sick from eating it! Thankfully they put us close to the restrooms! Then when the meals were finally served, they were cold and nasty tasting! I will never return to this restaurant ever again! The one star that I give to this restaurant is to the hostess that sat us down at the table with haste and that's it! The service we had a chilis was terrible, they were terribly rude, they brought us no napkins or forks for our meals and when we had to ask for some they would roll their eyes and walk away to go get it. The food was cold and we ordered the nashville hot mozzarella sticks and the cheese was hard as a block, worst service and food we have ever encountered We had even ordered beer and the beef was flat, this chilis needs to go. read more

I understand this is a new establishment and they are still learning the ropes, but the service was horrible. The only positive thing I can say is that they gave our party a table quickly. But after that everything went downhill, we were sitting at our table for about 20 mins without a single hello or sorry for the wait. We had to flag down someone to get our server. The person who we flagged called our server but after 10 mins no one showed up. The worst part was that people that got seated after us their server was attending them by getting them water and taking their order. Great experiences overall, and the drinks are really tasty and strong. I only had one experience that was pretty odd, we came for family dinner so there was 11 of us. We ordered appetizers and drinks, the waitress came back and gave us at the end our drinks, then stood there and expected us to pass the drinks all the way down the table. This new location is great. Very spacious and their wait time is decent. It was very family friendly. The food was so delicious. I got fajitas trio and the steak was just cooked to perfection, this plate could feed two people. Also comes with a 'boat' that includes pico de callo, sour cream, cheese and salsa, guacamole is an option for extra. We also tried the dual combo with the brisket quesadillas and honey chicken, with a street corn, it was so good. Our little one really enjoyed her cheese pizza, said it's the best she's had. I waited a few weeks after it opened so they could get the kinks worked out before I tried the Merced Chili's. The food was delicious. I was so impressed with this food from a chain restaurant. I even took my brother and a couple friends a week later for his birthday. Again, the food was delicious. A month or so later I stopped by for lunch with a friend. I ordered the same meal I had ordered the previous two times. So disappointed. Not good at all. Fries cold, crispy chicken soggy. Friends food was also off. Today I thought let's give them another try. Maybe that was a bad day. Ordered the BBQ ribs, chicken quesadilla with 2 sides. Was there after the lunch hour so only a couple of other tables occupied so I know kitchen was not busy. Neither the ribs nor the quesadilla were good. When they delivered my food they said we will bring your fries later when they're ready. I thought it was strange that a restaurant like this wouldn't have fries but at least I knew they would be warm. The street corn was good. The fries were fries. I bought the entrees home for my dogs. So disappointing to pay $50 for lunch (the other person had quesadilla only, no drinks) and end up eating corn and a tiny piece of bread. Sad. I thought we had a new place to eat in Merced. Just had lunch. Well, Service was great. However the cilantro lime steak my wife could not chew. Very tough. The manager was very apologetic, said he was sorry. Asked if it would be okay to cancel our bill for the 3 of us. And re-ring it with out the steak told him that would be perfect. He then came back and gave us each a discount on the next meal. I received some of the worst service I've gotten in a long time. The waitress America was terrible from the beginning, she seemed to have an attitude because there were multiple checks. Proceeded to tell us that it would be very difficult to do but not impossible, after she argued about it she took our order. Mixed up drinks that we did not order, and at the end told us that she could not split our checks even though we were told at the beginning that we could. Argued with not only myself but two of my family members before getting the manager who also had the same attitude about it. All this added an extra 25 minutes of us being there and waiting for our checks. I wish I would have went someplace else for my birthday. read more

My husband & I went on a date night to Chili's in Merced, CA, only because it was the only restaurant still open at the late hr. When we were seated, there were crumbs all over the booth so my husband moved to the other side w/chairs. I was busy wiping off crumbs from my booth while the employee who seated us was telling us about their member's perks. He'd seen what I was doing but didn't offer to take care of it for me. As we were looking over the menu, I noticed our table was sticky. Our food came before my husband's salad because they forgot it, we had to ask for it. Our drinks were never refilled & went empty before our dinner was finished. We never made a fuss & while I was paying the bill through kiosk on table, it asked it there were any issues. I proceeded to answer the survey when the server came over & asked if I answered yes on the kiosk if there were any issues. It is unheard of that the employees know what's going on at the kiosk & had the audacity to ask me to skip the survey since the survey impacts her. I agreed & left the survey unanswered. While we were getting ready to leave, another employee came to ask what the problem was, our server informed him about the crumbs on booth & sticky table, he chuckled & said "have a good night". I can't believe how badly we were treated there, NEVER will we return to any Chili's. I was only going to answer the survey w/my grievances to the crumbs & sticky table but since I was denied that opportunity, I went ahead & voice ALL my grievances here.
