Hey Hacienda, I am big foodie. I love good food, good taste and have a decently high bar about things. But here is the thing. When it comes buffets, I also have realistic expectations. I don't expect a typical buffet to be filled with exquisite entrees and michelin-worthy flavors. I don't even expect everything to be good, in fact I probably expect half the items to be stuff I would never touch because they are fillers. All I care about is there good variety? Are there a handful of items that are pretty good and make it worth it? And ultimately, is it worth the premium I am paying versus just ordering one entree somewhere else? I think you hit all those marks. M-Th - Lunch Buffet is $22.99. Pricey for me to go often but for special occasions or taking out a visitor - sure. It comes with a free drink which is nice. The variety was pretty good. Initially at a glance, it looks small, but then you turn the corner and I see you crammed some more goodies in the back corner. Not all the dishes were good, but there were enough good items and "hey-i-like-this" items to make it worth it. What was both a pro and a con was that, new dishes seemed to be coming out every 10 minutes. Con because I could have easily missed it, but pro because there was a new surprise every time I got up to look. The dishes I would pick out again - shrimp ceviche, pork chili colorado, the other red pork - over rice of course, flautas (nothing special, it's just I like the crunchiness), the fish was good, and garlic shrimp. Their chips were solid to scoop it all up. Others that were ok was Birria tacos. Wish you had some of the sauce/juice available. I like mussels that were tossed with the shrimp, but they seem to be thrown in on top, as it didn't have any sauce on it.. maybe mix it up a bit? Arroz de leche was good, thou. bit sweet for me. (imitation) Crab Ceviche was ok but it's imitation and shrimp was better. There was a creme chicken that was ok. Ones I didn't care much for. The fried chicken was dry. Sad. There was a pork verde of sort, that was dry. I didn't do the shrimp tacos bc well there were variety of giant shrimp dishes. Think most people will like the enchilatas, I just don't care for it much. I also didn't touch the scrambled eggs or potatoes because, I wanted to try the other dishes. There were chinese food too (noodles, fried rice), which I didn't touch because well.. it's a mexican restaurant.. and they were just carb fillers. :) All in all, I think your mid-week lunch buffet is pretty good for special occasions. Glad I tried it out. Not sure if dinner has more items, but I wouldn't pay the higher price for this as is. Perhaps there is more nice dishes tho? If so let us know what those are! read more

Breakfast on a Saturday morning at 9:30AM. It wasn't too busy. There were 2 other couples dining in when we go there. The waitress brought out sample crab soups. It was pretty good. It had a tomato base with little pieces of imitation crab. She also brought out chips and salsa. Chips were fresh. They were warm and crispy. My boyfriend ordered the chilaquiles and I ordered a scramble. Both meals were pretty good. Then after, we got crepes and ice cream. Overall, food was good and service was great. Waitress went above and beyond to give the other couple their card after they left and forgot it. She also had the leftover food that the other couple forgot and came back to get. We'll definitely be back again to try dinner next time. read more

My husband usually comes with his cousin during the week and he wanted me to try it out this new buffet he found. Absolutely loved it! So many selections to choose from soups to all the authentic dishes, to even some brunch breakfast options! Lotsa of shrimp options but I'm just not a fan of seafood, my preference. Had the best Strawberry Margarita made by out waitress, Miss Bri, so delicious and refreshing to enjoy on my one day off. Service, AWESOME! I live next to casa Victoria in Atwater and saw the signs for the buffet. I called a couple of days ago and they said only on Wednesday and Sundays. So the wife and I walk across the street to try it. They said they don't have buffet yet but signs are everywhere. They told us to go to la hacienda and that's it's the same owners, also said to wave at the camera and they would know that we were sent there. We got there waved and they looked at us like we were crazy. No harm no foul. So we order the buffet for two. 25 and change per person. A bit pricey, but we kept our hopes up. I tried a bit of everything that caught my eye. For the first time in my life I wish I was blind. Everything just was bland or just not good. Chile verde had strong flavor of cumin and allspice. I couldn't taste no tomatillos or cilantro just cumin. The chile Colorado has a bit of spice to it but still tastes odd. I was losing hope fast. I then tried the flautas and again no flavor except oil. The chicharone in salsa was just nasty. Both ceviches had no flavor and was just bland. I had a couple of other things but you can guess where this is going. The best thing I had was the coke. Look if you like this more power to you. I ended up throwing up in the bathroom. If I could give it 0 stars I would. Now if cas Victoria has the same food I definitely will not try it. $54 to leave sick and disappointed, never again. read more

The food serving is exactly what you pay for. Amazing flavors in each bite. The staff is always friendly each time I visit and never miss a beat with the music. The tacos, both street tacos and regular tacos, are packed with flavor. Shrimp cocktail is definitely a surprise. The presentation on the cocktail is beautifully designed. If anyone goes for the breakfast burrito, be ready for a packed meal. Overall, this is a nice place to eat with the enjoyment of the environment. read more

Food was great here, but let me just inform you that if you have a party of 8 or more to be careful and not give tip. They already charge you gratuity without you noticing. They add it to your bill as custom item. It is illegal for them to do that. I called but they kept giving me the round around. Not complaining about the food but what they do to get more tip and not be taxed is very shady. So keep and eye on your receipt and don't give tip if you see a custom item charge on your receipt. I first went when it first opened up and food was ok service not so great. We went back yesterday 24.99 for the buffet that was not very good - both chile verde and rojo hardy had any meat and very salty. The waitress sat us down and I guess forgot to come and take our order - when she finally did I asked for chips and salsa and was told to go get from the buffet - we had to ask for utensils, wait for napkins. I really wanted to like this place as I had grown up on the previous iterations of La hacienda in Merced. I give it 2 stars hoping it was just a bad day. Sat at the bar. Staff was Super Friendly. That's where it ended. Chips and salsa were the worst I've ever had. Chips were somehow sweet and the salsa had no bite or flavor. Drinks were a problem. I ordered a margarita. Simple enough at a Mexican restaurant. However, the bartender simply butchered it. The vibe was fine but there was a buffet going on that looked like a bad wedding reception. read more
