VERY SLOW SERVICE ON A SLOW DAY. it took them about 20 minutes to make 3 tacos and a salad... on what they themselves admitted was a slow night. They got my wife's order wrong and it took the kitchen an ADDITIONAL 20 minutes to remake her tacos. What was wrong with her order, you may ask? She made our waitress aware that she has a dairy allergy, and asked several times for absolutely no dairy in her food. In spite of this, they doused her tacos in a cream sauce. Went here with my granddaughter in the middle of the afternoon so there were not very many people there. Granddaughter ordered the ribs which she really liked. I ordered a steak, which was NOT cooked except on the outside. Horrendous. The asparagus was not cooked. The potatoes were one big oil field. I will never go back and I suggest you stay away, too. I have very specific dietary needs. While I have strong taste preferences and most dietary concerns are health related. Eating out is always a challenge. Our server IRA, listened mindfully to all my needs and offered suggestions he thought would work best for me. Even though my dietary needs excluded me from taking advantage of the $35.00/dinner for 2 offer, IRA made a special request with his manager so that we could still take advantage of the offer as well as enjoy ourselves. The manager granted him permission to go through with giving us the promo discount. Throughout the meal IRA checked for accuracy and made sure that all my special needs were met. The meal was very enjoyable and he was so friendly and genuinely seemed to have fun with us despite my neediness. We did have a couple complaints about the noise level and pace of service we knew that the rest. was both understaffed and much busier than they should have been for a Monday night. The level of attention and effort made on IRA's part eliminated all other complaints we had. We will GLADLY go back and request him as our server. I like the soup and salad comby for $7 bucks; all you can eat on weekdays for lunch. You can try all the soups, if you want, which can be heavy, so be careful if you're hoping for a light meal. I love that they will make me a salad with only romaine (no iceberg) and the service is usually friendly. I've been here for dinner a few times because they have an awesome rib eye for about $17. I have eaten at this particular Chili's countless times with good service, excellent food and no problems. NOT the case tonight. The waiter, David, was inattentive and as close to useless as one can get. The spinach white queso was late and when the Triple Dipper arrived, the chicken strips were greasy and inedible. What saved the whole event was the manager, Fernando I think. He noticed that our queso had not arrived before we brought it up. When asked about the greasy chicken strips, he cheerfully replaced them immediately. David was a downer but Fernando was professional, cheerful, attentive and very friendly. read more

So, my family and I had a busy but fabulous Labor Day holiday and wanted to finish off the day with a relaxing meal at a local restaruant. Unfortunately, we chose to go to Chili's. The hostess was nice but left after seating us and we were then assisted by one of the worst waitresses I have ever encountered. Not only did we wait at least 30 minutes to order with only two or three other tables being waited on (we had to call her over), the food took another 30 minutes to be served. We LITERALLY fell asleep at the table!! When we asked if we could take it to-go instead since it was taking so long, the rude waitress commented that "the food took ONLY 9 minutes" -.- no apologies AT ALL. On second thought, we did get an apology from the general manager that was CHOPPING IT UP with his young employees. He was completely oblivious until another brute waitress invited him into the situation and he pitifully offered to give us an appetizer on the house. Please. We just wanted a decent meal and were willing to pay for it. It sucks because we really love Chilis but that is last time we will visit that location. Horrible service. :( read more

Well, tonight my 2 sons joined with me to eat here and we were very disappointed at the service and food here. First of all, one of the waiters brought out 2 of the meals to my table when I only ordered just one. Then they brought out my sons meal with a tiny steak which looked like a 4 ounce steak when he ordered a 10 ounce. I noted this to the waitress and she was sorry and brought out another small steak for my son to have. My other sons meal was of bad taste and he quit eating it after a few bites. His corn on the cob and my corn on the cob were so soggy and too salty and had a bad sour taste too it.The waitress asked how my dinner was and I told her it was so so. She came back later to let us know that she didn't charge us for 2 soups. Then she brought a chocolate cake with ice cream to our table as a I'm sorry dessert for us to have. Now 90% of the time it's the kitchen staff but it still makes it hard to enjoy visiting a restaurant when there's a 75%likly hood that your meal is going to made wrong. Went out to Chili's (second night in a row - last night was the one in Clairemont) but tonight was a much different (so much worse) experience. Was seated quickly - but other than that ... nothing was right. The server (can't remember his name) was inattentive, he brought the wrong appetizer and didn't apologize and then brought the wrong chicken, again no apology and he didn't even come back to the table so I had to flag down another person to fix it (I think he was a manager). There was an error on the bill and when it was mentioned he didn't even say sorry he just rushed away with the Ziosk and then brought a paper receipt (still wrong), and acted annoyed when I again pointed out the error (it being on a paper receipt rather than Ziosk doesn't do anything to correct the issue). The appetizer (loaded boneless wings - were good) and the tempura chicken crisps were good, but the sides were... :-/ No. The skillet mashed potatoes were just okay but the corn on the cob (which had been pre-seasoned) was terrible. It was literally like they just rolled it in salt and pepper, it was totally inedible. read more

Ok, let me start off by saying I used to work at Chili's. Not this Chili's, but I worked there for 3.5 years, and I KNOW what the restaurant works like, and I know how long certain items take. Queso, takes LITERALLY one minute to get from the kitchen and take to a table. If you're busy, I get it, it might take up to 10 minutes. But 30 minutes for queso, or any other appetizer for that matter, is unacceptable. We waited forever without any sort of acknolegment from the server that it had taken longer than normal. Then my soup, also another item that takes literally seconds to retrieve was another 30 minutes. I was not looking to spend over an hour waiting on food I had expected to receive and consume in half an hour. I think the food is great for the price but, we came to this one and my husband had a piece of hair in his food he has not taken me to Chili's since. I was with a large group of people and it took a while for them to come and take drink orders once they took drink orders they came back and said they ran out of wine glasses and that we would have to have a few people use other glasses then they came back and took our food order & took for ever for the food to come to everyone. Then my friend asked for a spoon and she was handed a plastic spoon because they ran out of spoons. Then about 15 minutes later she finally gets a real spoon. Then our waiter mixed up all the checks so we had to wait for him to correct each one. Finally left after 2 hours. They must have a bad night. Need to correct these issues. This chilis is always packed, the food takes longer than usual to be at our table, and when it gets here it's sometimes cold. The big mouth bites are ok, the steak is always good too but the broccoli is salty most of the time. The Texas cheese fries are tasty, but the cheese looks like it's been melted and then left out for a bit before it gets to the table, the desserts are delicious, the cookie skillet is amazing since it's always hot and has cold ice cream sitting on top. I recommend you get a big platter of food instead of a sandwich or burgers or steak since my mother gets the steak fajitas since that always get there sizzling hot and the rest not as much . The customer service is good, they're very attentive and friendly. This place is just too small though in my opinion. read more

The place is right next to our office and we happen to go there at least once a week. Its affordable and consistent. If you go at happy hour you can leave with a couple of drinks and a full stomach for under $15 bucks. The staff in the bar is always pretty darn friendly. My issue with the place is in the sports bar the TV's are always messing up. Its one tv or the other all the time every time. They also seem like they are forcing me to use this touchscreen gadget to order and pay. I just want to hand cash to my server and get out of there, I don't want to feel like I'm trying to master a Wii game. The parking spots are also an issue they are so tight, I left there twice with new scratches on my car. The southwest egg rolls are my favorite with a nice presidente margarita. By the way I should be able to take that little blue shaker home Chili's....The food is always pretty good but the chips, need a lot ofwork. Came home very,very upset. Beware this Chili's. My waitress tried to scam me out of $100! Watch your receipts and what you sign. I came in and sat at the bar. Tiana served me. I bought 2 beers and the prime rib tacos. Note: I have worked in restaurants before, I know a scam. Either this girl was extremely stupid and should not be working the cash register or she tried to steal money off my card, THERE ARE NO OTHER OPTIONS!. I purchased about $23 dollars worth of food. I was alone. I gave her my credit card and she rang it up came back with the receipt. it was for $111! I called her on it and she looked surprised, rang my real total up and said "the first one did not close so all was good". I checked my bank account, the right charge of $23 was pending and so was the $111 charge. I was upset, and told the other bartender who went and got the manager. Manager came out and gave me a voided receipt of my $111. I am watching my bank account to make sure it voids out. I will never be back at that restaurant again. IT BETTER clear. BETTER. No one is that stupid, she did it on purpose. When she printed the receipt common sense should have told her there was no way my bill was $111. She knew what I ordered SHE SERVED ME!! I love Chili's, I come here all of the time to enjoy the food and watch football games with my boyfriend. Their staff is great! I normally order the Cajun Chicken Pasta and when I began to eat the chicken it was a bit spicier than normal so I left it aside and ate the pasta. It filled me up so quickly I probably would not have had room for the chicken anyways. The managers here are always so attentive and making sure everyone is enjoy their meal. She noticed I hadn't eaten my chicken, and asked if their was anything wrong with it. It was then when I explained to her it was a lot spicier than normal. She offered me another plate, but I respectfully declined because I was so stuffed, and instead she removed the pasta from my bill. There was no need to do so as i loved the pasta, but it was very kind of her. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because the restrooms could be kept up and during my pick up order my pasta spilled in the bag :( made me incredibly said, second time this has happened. I started going to Chili's in 1988 when I still lived in the Kansas City, Missouri area. I started at the location in Westport and then started frequenting the location on East 39th Street when I moved over to Independence. Then when I came to San Diego almost 3 years ago, I started going to the Mission Valley location & that one's currently my favorite. My favorite items on the menu are their Classic Nachos & the Monterey Chicken, but I've tried other items as well (love the Southwestern Egg Rolls) & have never been disappointed. I've always received great service, the servers have always been cordial & knowledgeable about the menus, & not once have I ever received bad food from the kitchen. Regarding the aforementioned Classic Nachos: My only gripe with Chili's (in general) is that they keep thinking they have to "fix" or "change" their nachos, & I wish they'd knock it off. I've heard from more than one server at this location that LOTS of customers prefer the Classic-style nachos over the "new & improved" versions they keep coming up with. So, I hope the Powers That Be at Chilis Incorporated are reading this & will take note! read more

Worst Chili's ever with the worst customer service ever! They hired very young people who don't have a clue about being professional as a server & dealing with the public. The server seemed annoyed and became very impatient with our party of 10. She rushed back & forth and didn't wait for all of us to put in all of our orders. She gave us dirty looks, rolled her eyes, walked away very quickly without finishing taking all of our orders. She finally came back to take the rest of our orders after we kept flagging her down to finish our orders. Then when she brought the food back she just threw & dropped the plates down & splashed her wet hands and fingers and sprayed all over our food, the table, & faces. Then when I asked to please bring us some condiments as she was racing away & she said, "Sure I can only walk back & forth a few more times." Then she brought the bill & we still gave her a good tip. The bill was around $100 & we gave her $125 & she never came back to confirm if she was supposed to keep the whole thing or not until I waved her to come back for our change then when she came back she gave us our change and as she quickly walked away she said, "Thanks for nothing." read more

So my friend and I came here yesterday and our server was very weird... he tried way too hard to get involved in our conversations. He wanted to sit down next to us and talk to my friend who is a female. He then talks about how he remembers the last time she was there (about three months ago) and knew where she sat and what she ate. She paid in card and we went on our way... HOWEVER this morning, my friend got requests on Facebook from him and she quickly blocked him. My friend has the most unique name. I've never heard of anyone with a name like hers. They have no mutual friends, she did not check-in to this restaurant, not even give him her name. This waiter got her name from her card, went home and added her the next day thinking he could try to talk to her. This really makes me sick. I love chilis and I just really hate how he felt the need to do that. It even makes me think that he probably took a picture of her card so best believe that she will be checking her bank statements for the next few weeks!! my husband and I ate at chilis yesterday around 2;00pm, we both ordered the club sandwich. it took almost 1/2 hour to get our order, the resturant wasn't very busy, so we were surprised it took so long. when we received our order the toasted bread was soft mussy,!!! terrible. the customer next to us sent hers back to the kitchen for some reason. I came here for that whole 2 for $20 thing. It sucked so bad. The waitress was so slow, there were barely any people there so I don't understand why her service was slow. We ordered our food and waited... And waited some more.. it took our food an hour to get to us. Wtf. We ordered stuff that shouldn't even had taken that long to cook. When our food finally got to us, my food was warmish to cold, and the gravy that was on top had been sitting there for so long that it grew a skin over it. Disgusting. I would've asked the her to take it back if I wasn't worried about her spitting in my food. We also got the brownie thing for desert. It was too sweet, and barely cooked. I got food poisoning from eating that that place. I will never eat there again.
