The food, as usual, is on POINT! The service is always top notch and they are all friendly and helpful! It seems like no matter how busy they are, they never busy!

Awesome queso, also be sure and try the bacon wrapped cheese filled jalapeños (seeded so they're medium spicy) chicken and beef fajitas were good but a little sparse on the Beef , shrimp tacos were good. So far one of the most authentic Mexican restaurants in Lubbock that's from a couple of transplanted San Antonians and SA is known for good Mexican food

    Steak and enchiladas

Traveling in town for a install and got recommended this place for dinner, Absolutely wonderful service and food was delicious. Steak was perfectly cooked and not too heavily seasoned and the enchiladas provided a nice balance Would absolutely come back next trip and try something different.

We started with the house chips and salsa trio, which is always a win here. The chips were warm and crisp, and the variety of salsas--from bright and fresh to deeper and more roasted--made it easy to keep reaching for "just one more." A solid way to kick things off. For my main, I went the veggie route, and honestly, this was the standout of the meal. The sizzling vegetable fajitas arrived steaming hot and loaded with broccoli, cauliflower, mushrooms, peppers, tomatoes, and squash--perfectly cooked, well-seasoned, and served on a cast-iron skillet that kept everything hot down to the last bite. Colorful, hearty, and surprisingly satisfying, even without meat. The rest of the table went more traditional with enchiladas, rice, beans, guacamole, and queso, and everything looked generous and comforting in that familiar, crave-worthy Tex-Mex way. Portions are filling, flavors are approachable, and it's easy to find something for everyone at the table. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with a lively bar area and cozy booths that make it a great spot for a casual dinner, family outing, or low-key night out. Service was friendly and efficient, and everything came out exactly as expected. Abuelo's may be a familiar name, but when you're in the mood for reliable Tex-Mex, solid vegetarian options, and a relaxed, welcoming vibe, it absolutely hits the mark.

Good food, great margaritas and appetizers, hit or miss service. The ambiance is fine. This is one…read moreof my favorite Tex-Mex restaurants in town.

While in Lubbock on our whirlwind trip, we needed a place to go for all of the out-of-towners to…read moremeet up for dinner as our party of 9 was a bit too big to figure out on a budget. Thankfully our local friend provided us with the details for Chuys. The decor on the inside really leans into the 1950s/1960s Americana vibe that's often associated with Lubbock without leaning into kitsch territory. The table we were at took about 5-10 minutes to clear up for us and once we were seated we felt right at home. Food came out hot and exactly as expected. The server also recommended that I HAD to try the local concoction adult beverage that apparently is a staple of this location. It was a nice treat and a quick way to feel at home. Our bill was also not exorbitantly high, which is also something else to note about this place. You'll get your dollar to go far while here. Parking is convenient right off the highway and in a large shared parking lot.

Finally got to revisiting Chuys and I realize I may give this place more credit than it's worth…read more Not to say the entire experience was horrendous, just there are far better options for Tex mex in Lubbock. The steak burrito I got was good but pretty mushy with the burrito quickly falling apart into a bit of a soupy mess. The chips and salsa were passable, and part of a quesadilla I had was alright, but overall it was all subpar to mediocre. Service was lacking a bit, and the interior is just kind of a mess of styles. 6/15 overall it was just a very passable experience, but I don't think I'll voluntarily eat there again. There is just nothing drawing me and there are much better options. GLEAMER
