I recently dined at Chima Steakhouse for a birthday celebration. The beautiful atmosphere and exceptional service from Omar and Carlos Silva were definite highlights, but the food and overall service felt inconsistent for the price. The birthday celebration was especially disappointing, as we clearly communicated the occasion but didn't receive the full celebration we saw other tables getting. I'm glad my family got to experience Chima, but we likely won't return. The food was good, but not great. For the price, I expected more, especially having been to other Brazilian steakhouses where I felt the food was better. The atmosphere was beautiful and probably one of my favorite parts. The outdoor area was very peaceful and Zen, with water features, greenery, and beautiful lighting. Inside, it had a classy, upscale fine-dining feel. My only complaint was that the tables were pretty tightly spaced, so it felt a little cramped. Also, if you're going for the live music, just know that it's specifically in the bar area. I didn't realize that beforehand and expected it to be more central to the restaurant. Service was mixed. The two women who checked us in were both very nice and welcoming, although I unfortunately didn't get their names. Everyone was very friendly when we first arrived, but our waiter became more standoffish as the night went on, which several people in our party noticed. I do want to give a huge shoutout to Omar from management and Carlos Silva, one of the meat servers. Both provided exceptional service and really stood out. Omar gave us some history about the restaurant, which made the experience feel more personal. Carlos Silva went above and beyond, even personally going to the kitchen to get something we hadn't received yet. He was friendly, attentive, and genuinely helpful. This was especially noticeable compared to some of the other meat servers, who sometimes spoke very quietly or quickly when explaining the different cuts. I had to ask them to repeat themselves a few times, and some seemed annoyed when I did. Carlos was the complete opposite and really understood what good customer service should feel like. The biggest disappointment of the night was the birthday celebration! We clearly communicated that we were celebrating a birthday on the reservation and again to both the check-in staff and our waiter. We saw several other tables receive their birthday dessert while the staff came over to sing and clap, so we assumed the same would happen for us. Instead, we received the birthday cheesecake in a bag to take home. As a first-time guest, I didn't know if I needed to specifically request the full celebration or order a specific dessert, especially since the restaurant already knew it was a birthday. What made it worse was seeing another table receive the full birthday celebration as we were leaving. On top of that, the place smelled off when we walked in, and the women's bathroom was even worse--which didn't help the experience. Our last evening of the holiday was Chima-a block away from our apartment. Was here 4 years ago & loved it. This time it looked less glamorous, somewhat beat up & old. Maybe an upgrade is needed. Our seats at the bar were fun. We had happy hour cocktails & food bites. The starters were superbly crispy & fresh. Nice size too for a happy hour. The barman was incredibly sweet & attentive to me & my two grown kids. We regret not getting his name. The only issue was a mixed order for chicken skewers. Chima offered a wonderful dining experience. The location is great, easy from beach area or if staying downtown. Took an Uber so not sure of parking situation. Maybe valet? Front of house was welcoming and made me feel like a true guest. The table they selected was near a window so bright and cozy. The server was attentive and explained the experience quite well. Where do I start?!? We attended a large birthday party at Chima last night. I was completely impressed with all aspects of our experience. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the valet service. All were dressed in black tuxedo attire. The cost for valet is $12.00 and before you leave the restaurant, they text the valet bill to you so you can pay and add tip in advance. The entrance to the restaurant is a beautiful, lighted banyan tree covered walkway that spills out into a courtyard. There is outdoor lounge type seating with tables, live music and television. The restaurant interior is elegant and very clean. The food... Absolutely amazing! There are various levels of service/menu items that you can select. The party host chose the "Complete Rodizio" which includes all 15 kinds of meat, poultry, fish, and sausage on the menu. This also includes sides! It is continuous service, so the gauchos keep coming back to fill your plate. All this is included in the $70.00 fee and worth every penny. You can choose the "Select Rodizio" which costs $45.00 per person but only includes a fixed selection of certain items. They also have a world class salad bar which has anything and everything that you can imagine! The cost for that salad bar is $36.00 dollars per person and you can return to refill all evening. Love this place! Anniversaries, birthdays and celebrations Chima is a high end Brazilian churrasco steak house. They offer a beautiful robust salad bar that is refilled and cleaned often. There are plenty of vegetarian options as well as seafood if you want to just get the salad bar option. The food service waiters place polenta wedges, plantains and mashed potatoes on the table with the tapioca Brazilian cheese bread yum! There's a Black chip on the table to turn over to Red when you are ready for the meat Gauchos to come serve you meat on the skewer that they will cut off for you on your plate. The gauchos cook the meats and offer you the temperature you desire. My favorite is the picanha and the garlic picanha, fillet mignon and the seasoned pineapple it's like dessert! I came here for an event that was held in the courtyard. The courtyard is an amazing outdoor space with large trees and white lights strung throughout. They had 2 bars set up.and I had my favorite Brazilian drink, a caipirinha. There was a buffet set up.with beef skewers, baby lamb chops, cheese breads and a veggie platter. Chima has never disappointed me until this past Saturday. Chima needs to decide if they are a restaurant or catering hall. Service was terrible. You could not get to the buffet table as 70 plus persons from the wedding charged at the bar. And by the way Chima, if you're going to enforce a dress code which I agree with, you may want to inform your lounge singer of the rules..... cutoff shorts and tee with sneakers ? If your family loves meat then this is a must try restaurant. The main dining area ambiance is family style tables for the most part, and there are some booths and high top tables at the bar area. Service is excellent with the gauchos offering table side the all you can eat meats, chicken, shrimp and salmon. There's only valet parking available for a $12 charge. Joined some friends here for dinner a few weeks ago. The place was packed and felt like the tables were too close to each other. We opted for the salad bar (skipped the meats) since it looked huge with a lot of variety. Unfortunately it was disappointing. Nothing stood out and the food was fresh but not very tasty. Our dirty dishes were never cleared off and we had to remove them and bring them to the station near the kitchen. We paid $45 for salad. And they added a mandatory 20% tip for a buffet! with no service! There are many better Brazilian steakhouses in the area and we will continue going to those. read more

Dear Chima Management, My family and friends, a party of ten, chose to spend our New Year's Eve at Chima as a special way to ring in the new year, celebrate a friend's birthday, and mark our children's final New Year's before leaving for college. Chima has long been a meaningful place for our family, with cherished memories dating back over a decade. We have celebrated milestones, hosted large gatherings, and enjoyed many memorable meals there. Unfortunately, our experience on New Year's Eve was extremely disappointing and disheartening. Although our party was ultimately seated together, this only happened after multiple calls beginning the day prior. We were seated approximately 35 minutes after our reservation time. Unlike previous years, we were not provided wristbands for the open bar while waiting and had to pay out of pocket for our first round of drinks. Given the hefty price tag for the evening, this was tacky and unexpected from Chima. Once seated, the manager informed us that we could order drinks freely at the table, however, drink service was delayed by nearly an hour. Because of this, we were only able to have two drinks each. I ordered an Ultimate Caipirinha expecting it to match the one I had purchased earlier at the bar, but the drinks delivered to the table were poorly made and appeared to contain vodka instead of cachaça. When I raised this concern, the waitress insisted it was correct and did not offer to replace it. I went to the bar twice to address the issue and was surprised to learn that servers were making drinks themselves. I also overheard that a bartender had quit mid-shift. Within hours of taking only a few sips of the drinks brought to the table, I experienced a severe migraine, which I am confident was caused by the drinks, as I am very sensitive to alcohol. The dining experience itself was equally disappointing. Gaucho service was repetitive, with sirloin repeatedly presented as picanha, which is misleading. We had to request additional gauchos to receive even a limited variety of what was being served. Having dined at Chima many times, it was clear that many premium cuts did not make an appearance that evening. The salad bar was half empty and lacked many of the options we have come to expect. Dessert service was disorganized and frustrating. Our waitress verbally listed only three or four options instead of providing a menu, despite our request. She discouraged us from ordering the molten lava cake, stating it would take an additional 30 minutes. Eight of the ten guests were willing to wait and ordered it anyway. Two minutes later, she returned and said it was no longer available, suggesting apple strudel instead. After some guests ordered the strudel, she returned again to say that was also unavailable and that she would bring molten lava cake. When the desserts arrived, they were subpar and the molten lava cakes were still frozen in the center. Adding to the frustration, the table behind us ordered after we did and received the apple strudel we were told was unavailable. We were also told that a dessert table would be arranged outside, which never happened. Additionally, we observed a manager blow into a New Year's noisemaker and then place it back into the pile to be handed out to guests. For a bill of nearly $700 for three people and over $2,000 for our party of ten, the only enjoyable part of the evening was the company we were in. After many years of loyalty, celebrations, and recommendations, this experience has led us to decide that we will not be returning to Chima. Finally, although the restaurant stated it would be open until 2:00 a.m., when we went to the valet at 1:00 a.m., the Christmas lights, fire pits, and waterfalls had already been turned off. We had hoped to take a family photo, but instead felt rushed out before closing. Ultimately, the quality of the food and drinks was not as expected, service and management fell short, and the event was clearly understaffed. The cost of the evening was not justifiable in any way. We paid $150 per child and $190 per adult, not including tax or gratuity. I wanted to share this feedback in the hope that it is taken seriously and addressed for future guests. read more

The gals at the host stand were wonderful. I asked if I could look at the salad bar before deciding to try it. It looked good. I went to sit at the completely empty bar and told the bartender I was getting the salad bar. She said I can't have the salad bar at the bar. I replied, "You have food and I have money. Why does it matter where I sit?" She has no answer of course because either her IQ is too low or she barely speaks English or both. So I asked what they do serve at the bar, but two iPad menus wouldn't turn on. Good enough for me! Thanks Chima, I took my money and went to EL Camino where they serve me anywhere I sit. The fraldinha (flank) was good, but the picanha was mediocre. They were also slow to bring out the cuts of meats to us, it was a busy day. I also missed some traditional salad-bar items, which seemed to be replaced with more American-style items. It was also a bummer that they didn't have chicken hearts in the rodizio. The pão de queijo wasn't good at all. Dessert was mixed, the passion fruit crème brûlée was excellent, but the cheesecake came out frozen in the middle. The sides were just as impressive, especially the rich, whipped potatoes andthe salad bar was huge. We had a 7:00 reservation on a Friday night in August (made easily through OpenTable) and were seated right away despite it being very crowded. Our servers were very attentive and explained how everything works with the little cards and the salad bar. The salad bar had a solid selection. Everything was neat and clean. By the time the meats began to come out we were already so full! My advice is to pace yourself and only arrive extremely hungry! Lol I wish I paid attention to exactly which cuts I was eating but I just kept eating lol. The garlic chicken, surprisingly was my favorite. Walking through the courtyard at Chima is a magical experience in itself. Towering Banyan trees decorated with fairy lights, gas lamps, and fountains spilling water onto rock gardens. Our party of four celebrated New Year's Eve, as has been our tradition over the last several years. The salad bar is amazing, if you can dream it it's there. Once the meats start coming, it's a never-ending parade of perfectly cooked grilled items. They have an extensive wine selection and if you have any room after your dinner, they offer dessert as well. Our servers, Rodrigo Johnathan E and Johanna took very good care of us. For nearly 20 years we've been fans of Chima in Fort Lauderdale. We still haven't found a better "churrascaria rodizio" in the entire US. Fogo de Chão doesn't come close. Only in Brazil have we found a better rodizio experience. We also admire Chima's consistency and reliability; their quality and service haven't floundered throughout these many years. Our favorite cuts include the beef ribs, flank steak, and the garlic "picanha." We used to be fans of their sword fish, but it's no longer served. Their salad bar is decent, but who cares about the salad bar?! One goes to Chima for the protein, not salad! We just spent $282 dollars for a 3-person dinner, including tip (no alcohol, only water, no dessert). As Brazilians who are intimately familiar with the "churrascaria rodizio" concept, we can safely say that Chima is the best churrascaria we've ever tried in the US. They never disappoint! read more

Everything I had from my sangria to the salad bar to the cut of meat that were brought to the table were all superb. I have nothing negative to say other than the fact that I was too full to indulge in dessert! Lol....but our server, I believe his name was Michael...I apologize if I get his name wrong...was completely on point! He was informative and professional. It was a last-minute reservation but we were able to get in and be seated. I love when things fall in place and the experience is good and that's exactly what happened to us when we visited this steakhouse. I haven't been here in a very long time! My friend had a gift card that she wanted to use, so we went. We were seated quickly but there were many people nearby, it was very loud- it was a Sunday night. Our server was explaining how everything worked- about the rodizio & the salad bar. We ordered a bottle of wine- my hubby had the signature cocktail- caipirinha. My friends guy ordered a beer. It took a very long time time get the drinks- I wanted to sip some wine before going to salad bar. It was a very large salad bar- I personally didn't wanted to get filled up on that. When the wine came the rodizio started coming with food. Unfortunately, the lamb chops came out before my wine so I declined- little did I know I had to request them only to be too full at the end of the evening to eat them. I was not impressed with the food- it was ok but I have had better choices at other places. I think for $63 pp & $12 valet parking- it's way overpriced. I don't think I will go back. So I've written about how my go to used to be Texas De Brazil. That is until the last time on my birthday in August of 2024. I went into detail of the service failures and then how their corporate office compounded the bad experience. I said that if I am going to spend my money, I want to know it is somewhere that appreciates my business. My wife went to Chima shortly after my birthday, with a bunch of her friends for a girls group. She came home raving about it and said I was probably going to like it. Her birthday rolled around at the end of September and that's where she wanted to go. What a great place! From the moment you walk in off the street you see the welcoming courtyard that is like a little oasis. With the right weather, it looks to be a great place to hang out. They have an outside bar that was closed the night we went, but again, the weather has to right. You walk in and there is a nice little bar to the right and a wine room to the left of that. you round the corner past the host stand and you see the nice sized salad bar. It had plenty of great options, but I tend to just get a few pieces of cheese and focus on the meats. Anyway, we were sat quickly, greeted immediately, water right away, bread, polenta, mashed potatoes boom, right there. Server came over did his thing and my wife ordered her drink and I got my usual diet coke. turned the cards over and it was game on. They came right away, never had to wait, they had great selections. More than other Brazilian restaurants we've been too. It was nice to see salmon being offered. The regular little bacon wrapped filets were expected, what wasn't expected was the full size 8 oz filets they also offer you a cut of. Then the ribeye, that was amazing. Forget that you don't usually see ribeye on the list of options, this was incredibly tender. Like really surprisingly tender. To the point where I had to show my wife. They have a roasted pineapple which was good and some grilled brazilian cheese of some type. Every meat was cooked perfectly, no over cooked pieces the entire time. Everything was well seasoned. I can't say enough good things about the restaurant. I'll say this, the one positive of the service failures of Texas De Brazil, was that it got me to try other options and find my new favorite. Hands down the best option around. Service, great Food, great Atmosphere, great Manager, great (I love when they do a sincere table visit and not a "everything good" as they hit and run) Price, reasonable for the quality you're getting Selection, great.
