I requested a quote for a chimney cap for a property I manage. After three months and multiple calls I finally received the quote. When I spoke to the owner to schedule the appointment he intended to get back to me. This was over a month ago. To date there has been no follow up. Secondly, I requested service for my own fireplace. After two unsuccessful attempts, the owner said the pilot light kit needed replaced. We scheduled a third appointment for this repair for January 15th. Chimney Safe failed to show fir the appointment and again no follow up. I will be giving my business to another local company moving forward. read more

I called and spoke to Skip about doing a chimney sweep for me and he set me up with a 10:30 ish appointment. well that day and time came and went by an hour or so so I called to see if everything was okay. no call back! then a few more hours passed so I left another message to make sure once again everything was okay. no call back! now it's Saturday and I am sure they don't work but they could at least call me back as I sit in my cold house. not reliable at all!!!! read more

Yes I did wait kinda late in the fall to have the chimney checked. It was kinda late notice but I was able to get a very last minute appointment with Craig to inspect the fireplace before I used it. Purchase the new place this summer and had no clue of the condition of the fireplace and chimney. Only to discover the previous owner had never used it. Craig double checked the flue for heavy soot and debris, clean. He also checked for any cracks in the fireplace liner, he did move the back metal guard a little to a better location. All was done with minimal mess and he had that all cleaned up before he left. I recommend a yearly chimney check up for safety. And I would call Chimney Safe to do it. read more

We received an estimate for wood stove flue repair. We made an appointment to have the repairs done. The time came for them to show up. No one showed up. We tried calling and no answer. We tried texting and no answer. We left several text messages and still no call back several days later. I wasted a afternoon waiting for them to show up. read more

When talking with the owner, I thought it was going to be good. He said his son would come out and take a look. We live a little out, but we are still Reno area. I knew the guy would not come and he didn't. He wanted pics. I sent them telling him exactly what we wanted done. I could tell he didn't want to do it at all. Our realtor used this company to inspect the wood burning fireplace and stove prior to purchasing the property. There were a few minor repairs suggested on the chimney, so we called them to perform the repairs and to clean the antique wood burning stove. Skip always returned my phone calls and was always very pleasant and professional. Craig came out to do the work and was very nice and professional also. So we have been using this company for less than 2 years for mostly cleaning. The owner has always been pretty responsive until recently. Maybe they are out of business? We need more than cleaning, and the owner Skip came out and we reviewed extending the chimney and putting a new flue in. He sketched out a plan..and we agreed on what they would do. He would get back to me in 2 weeks with the estimate(which to be honest we just wanted them to do it..and they have never been stupid expensive so an estimate was just a formality). After a month, I tried calling him 3 times leaving voicemail messages. Crickets...Very very very disappointed. I thought this was a quality company and one we could depend on. Not sure if he is ghosting or they are not interested in business. I hate leaving this review..but now we are on the hunt for a dependable company that wants to work and we will pay for..so sad really. I have bad experiences with this company. I purchased a pellet stove from Skip 5 years ago at a cost of approx $4,500. It is a constant problem. It was constantly breaking down, very unreliable. My wife and I complained to Skip regularly, he did nothing. Last season his sons came to service the stove. When they completed the service, it did not operate, it kept shutting off. Again I called. He told me that he would order a part, he never did. I must have called him 15 times and he never returned my call. I have not been able to use this stove in 2 years now. I paid $185 for the last service that was either not performed or not done completely. I finally called another service man and he is now servicing and repairing the stove that has not been used since the last service that Skip's sons performed. It is filthy and had to be redone. I have since found out they are not licensed Napoleon Stove Reps. They misrepresented themselves as reps, (they do not know the product they are selling and installing), they are unprofessional and unreliable, I would never use this establishment again. read more

I had to call several places to find someone that would come to Fernley...Boy was I lucky! Skip, the owner said that they would be in Fernley the following week, so I scheduled the chimney cleaning. Later I had to call and see if we could make the appointment in the afternoon because a friend needed a ride and I wouldn't be home during the morning. Skip was so easy to work with and had no problem..we set the time for 1. At exactly 1 Craig knocked on the door, ready to go. He was wonderful! Very professional. So I got one of their coupons on my doorstep and needed our dryer vent cleaned/checked. I called and spoke with Craig's father Skip for a quote over the phone. I asked how much lead time needed and he said a day's notice is fine. So I called back this week on Thursday morning to see if Friday afternoon would work and booked it-and took the day off so I knew I would be home and ready for my 4 pm appt. By 4:15, nobody had called or shown up so I called and left a voicemail asking why no one showed up or at least called. At about 5:45 I get a call and voicemail from Craig with NO apology, just a statement that I didn't make it on the stops today and was skipped. But if it's an emergency he could come over or come back when it was convenient. Convenient? Today was convenient as I TOOK THE DAY OFF. So I called back Craig and was immediately met with an "I don't give a *hit* tone. I expressed my disappointment and told him I didn't appreciate that I'd stayed home waiting. Long pause. He asked in a rude tone what I wanted to do. I replied I was very frustrated to which I got an annoyed apology. I replied in the same annoyed tone that FINALLY I got an apology. Long pause. I finally responded that I didn't want someone like him in my home. Ok he says. Wow. Never again. I'll pay full price and get some SERVICE somewhere else!
