Employee from here nearly caused a massive accident today on my drive to work (9/24 8am). Cut off the car in front of me along with the 2 behind me so quick that they spilled items from the back of the work truck all over the road before taking off. We all slammed on our breaks to a complete stop. Car behind me had to come up on my side to avoid slamming into me. I've seen wrecks in front of this place before, I'm assuming this is how they happen. These people should not be out driving around let alone working on people's houses. They responded to my inquiry within just a few hours and were able to get me scheduled for a inspection within a few weeks. I'm sure autumn is a very busy time and my guess is they had a tech coming to the area without a full docket for the day. They have a very clear process, prompt communication, and a very professional approach. On the right day I got a call from the tech that he would be on site within 30 minutes, which was well within the expected window. When he arrived we chatted a bit and, once he got suited up, he jumped into the work and wasn't hesitant to get in there, clear the cobwebs, check some items in our basement, etc., Very thorough and he was able to provide me a good status of my chimney, options for the wood burning insert I had asked about, and a clear, documented, process for how I can get there plus what to do to make sure this chimney will last another 150 years. I was impressed. They are a professional organization, serving a very large area, and not the least expensive option. But, that's not to say they wouldn't be the best value. The technician onsite was very knowledgeable but wasn't shy about contacting his team for further input. All signs of a healthy, stable, company. No pressure. No hard sell. No forced timelines. I've been having Chimney Savers clean my woodstove chimney for 5 years, and they have always done a great job, with an eye to improving safety, which is much appreciated. Recently the two top blocks and the cap on this chimney needed to be replaced because the mortar had degraded, and a more effective chimney cleanout needed to be installed. Two techs (Brian and Pat) showed up as scheduled to do the work, and a manager (I think it was one of the owners, Gene) stopped by to review all considerations before work began; then these guys just got the job done very safely and quickly. They were nice, courteous people to have around too, and they cleaned up everything inside and out very carefully. Chimney Savers are definitely my go-to contractor for any work I need with chimneys. We owned a second home in Quechee, VT. We have used Chimney savers for a few years. every year after cleaning the chimney there were always issues that needed to be corrected. Some of these issues were expensive. this year we had the chimney cleaned, which we had used sparingly during the past year. We were unable to be in VT because of family issues and then because of Covid. When the chimney was cleaned we were told that the chimney was not usable. I was dumbfounded since we had used the chimney minimally. I felt that the part of the technician's job was to add additional work. (Probably resulting in additional compensation for him.) when I called to speak to the technician about this result I was told by the technician that perhaps we did not need to do the suggested work and there were other alternatives available and that the chimney was not as bad as he reported. I would just suggest that the work that is recommended after a cleaning may not be necessary. read more

Chimney Savers gave me an estimate on masonry work on my chimney. I asked them to do some additional work after the original estimate was completed. They did the additional work and did not ask for any money above the original estimate. That is client service I never experienced before. In addition, I was not able to be at the house when they did the work. It was not problem. They had access to the house and you would never know anyone was there except that the job was completed. Work was done on time, But the guy that did estimate on job for re-lining of chimney measured chimney flue incorrectly for liner and that put the guys behind because they had to wait for another chimney Liner to arrive which ended up to be an all day job. They had to seal in some cracks in chimney also and some cracks got missed, and around chimney base was a big crack. A potential contractor I had here to estimate another job noticed that, and he noticed that there was a lot of dried up cement(mortar) used to seal cracks around chimney base on ground (still there). He asked me why they didn't clean up after the job. I was so embarrassed. I didn't know what to say. Also wasn't to Happy that our check WASN'T cashed until 3 months after project was done. We had job done in Nov and check wasn't cashed until following year, which made our bank records short meaning what we thought we had in our account wasn't actually correct. read more
