Dr. Chin is the most honest doctor you will meet! I went to him because I was having hormonal issues including swollen feet and was cold all the timeWhen I went to him he told me I needed 10 sessions and gave me dong quai! He told me to stop drinking coffee,don't eat bananas, white vegetables and spicy food! I noticed I stopped being so cold and my feet swelling went away! He focuses on reflexology and says this is the best way to heal. He told me I had to go for 10 sessions and after the 6th one he said I was done. If you ever want a consultation he will tell you if you need treatment! He checked my mom and said he can't help her and to reduce her stress. This place is located in a funny shopping center, reminds me of the 80's. It's a white two story building with light bluish green lines in the building. Go in the parking lot and he's in the back. It's cute how the "acupuncture" sign in hand painted. He's Taiwanese and speaks Japanese and English as well. Had tendonitis in the left thumb that was painful when you pick something up and put too much pressure on it. Went for six sessions of getting the area by the ankle massaged. Hurt like a you know what. He prescribed some chinese herbs too which probably helped a lot. The tendonitis is completely gone! You don't make an appointment, you just show up and wait in line until it's your turn. If you're too early, he might not be there yet so just wait and he'll show. I heard about Chin by accident when listening to a story told by my dry cleaners about an eccentric and amazing Chinese Medicine/Acupuncture specialist "all the way out" in Palos Verdes. I then tried to find him on the web and it was difficult, all I had to go on was that he had near magic powers and many ladies go to him for help with infertility (not why I was interested - it was the 'magic' powers that caught my attention). There's nothing magic about Chinese medicine, it's a very prescribed system, but to those of us who know nothing about the various ways they diagnose, it does seem like magic. And, there's artistry involved in practicing it. Chin's clinic is very modest. There's a waiting area in front with two massage chairs (like you'd see at a nail salon) and a smaller back room where he provides semi-secluded treatments. Patients remain fully clothed, but take off their shoes for the most powerful reflexology you'll get this side of the globe. Chin is indeed a man of few words. I found him to be very compassionate and a good listener. I also thought he was reasonable when he disagreed with me, dispensing advice on how I should change certain things I've been routinely doing, but by no means condescending or demanding. His manner is to speak in as few words as possible (could be due to English being a 2nd language). Just consider it a form of economy. His fingers will make your feet hurt, but in a good way. I walked out feeling better than when I walked in. He estimated that 5 visits would get me fully back on track. That's nothing compared to some of the hard selling I've gotten in the last few years by "alternative" health practitioners and Chin does not push his herbs if you don't want them. Dr. Chin - knowledgeable - caring - strait forward in his opinion He is extraordinary doctor, he does not need to fill out patient's symptoms in the computer in order to prescribe treatment to the patient. I had a cough from almost 2 months no prescription medication helped, but Dr. Chin's prescribed herbal supplements and cough syrup along with acupuncture treatment ended the horrible cough. I was referred to Dr Chin by a family member. I was initially so eager to try acupuncture, but even more so for this place specifically and not only because I have heard the highest recommendations, but also because I've heard of miracles. I had seen my primary doctor for my excruciating pains and they told me to take certain medication for it & that would probably meant forever or my other option was surgery which I didn't want. I really wanted to seek finding a natural way to help ease my pain. Dr Chin and his daughter Irene helped me to believe that western medicine really helps. My prayers were answered when I no longer had these painful symptoms. I also went with My aunt whose had the worst back pains since 2004 - she had days she would stay in bed. Today is Nov. 11, 2012, almost 2 months since Chin "looked" at my feet (from a distance) and told me that I had gout. I did NOT have any pains in my joints. I had pain or discomfort at the bottom of my feet ... the soles. I have been medically followed since meeting with Chin. Podiatrists have physically examined my feet (not just looking at them from a distance). In my initial review, I mentioned that the problem might be the settling of fluid during my sleep. The podiatrist is also considering an extremely mild case of Plantar Fasciitis...a disorder that is common with seniors/athletes and, oftentimes, involves the "the connective tissue that forms the arch of the foot becomes inflamed (tendonitis) and degenerative (tendinosis). I do not believe that any reputable doctor or healing person would diagnose and pass out "medication" without any type of examination. Merely looking, from a distance, at a patient is inappropriate. I realize that literature mentions that some healers, such as Edgar Cayce, could/can go into a spell and diagnose. That might be true but, in my experience, a person who is interested in treating encourages a description of symptoms; will perform a physical examination (as well as have testing done if indicated). read more

Simply the best! If he can't help you he doesn't even charge you. He's very no nonsense and blunt. He will tell you straight up with no sugar coating. Don't take it personally, he knows what he's doing. It hurts like a mother. Just suck it up if you want to get better. Oh, and these reviews, he doesn't GAF! Someone asked me for his hours. Last I checked, he's in Fri eve, sat/sun mornings, Mon tue morning and evening (not midday) and wed mornings. He's out Wed eve, all day Thursday and Friday mornings. When you call, call early in the morning, listen closely to the message (if he's not in the message tells you when to call back). Do NOT I repeat do NOT leave a message. He won't call you back. His message says so. For the people complaining that he didn't return your call, try listening to the voice mail. He clearly states do not leave a message. Over the course of 2 years, me and some family members have visited him numerous times and believe that acupressure is a great source of finding out whats wrong and a great source of healing. He was able to diagnose me by touching my feet and identifying the same thing doctors had found through an ultrasound. I believe he was able to help after several visits and have referred many others who have been helped and satisfied as well. He is very honest, so if you visit and there is nothing wrong, he will say you are all good and he wont charge you. He is a very straight forward, don't take it personally. Mr Chin was recommended to me as someone who could help me with my panic attacks. What do I have to lose except $60 per treatment (all cash, no receipts)? Right away I was told I had to stop smoking, drinking, drinking coffee and eating spicy food. Funny, since I do not smoke, drink only a glass of wine per week and 4 oz of coffee per day and do not like spicy food. But OK. He then touched my feet and told me that I was dying. Dying? Yes, my kidneys were very,very bad and I did not have long to live. I told him that he was scaring me. He said he did not mean to but that he was only telling the truth. I was very, very bad. Good news: he could help me in 10 sessions. He looked at me with pity, like I was an animal on the way to the slaughter house. I stumbled out of there in shock. Then I decided to get a second opinion from my regular doctor. If kidney results were bad, I could always go back, I figured. My kidney tests came back and my kidneys are more than fine. Do I think Mr. Chin can be helpful for certain conditions? Probably. Do I think he cares that he was wrong regarding my diagnosis? No. Oh and since he treats his patients in a not-so-private setting I could not help but hear what he told the lady ahead of me. She complained about being very tired. He told her she needs more sleep. She said she slept 8 hours per night. He then said that she was tired because she slept too much. read more

I am simply amazed by Dr. Chin and his daughter Irene. I had been suffering with a bulged disc / sciatica for the last 5 months. Wasn't able to sit or drive for more than 10 minutes. Shooting pains all the way down my leg to the top of my foot. I had gone to see orthopedic right from the beginning with orders for PT and I went to my appointments religiously. It was helping at first then turned for the worst and I felt it was hopeless. Crying and sad. Not a good quality of life. My friends had suggested Dr. Chin. Said when I'm ready they are ready to take me to see him. I didn't wait long. 3 days and I said let's go. Dr. Chin said poor circulation and definitely sciatic issues. I didn't even tell him why I was coming to see him . Says come 6 times. He was leaving town but promised his daughter will take good care of me. It hurts. I won't lie. This is not a massage.
