I was hungry and traveling. Wanted Chinese food but the past two towns had non. Found this place, just so you know the location is wrong. It is actually down the street at bit more. Was scared since I was the only customer. Was pleased though. While it is a buffet the food was not too bad. The rice was dry as it was sitting there too long. Beef broccoli was very good and the egg drop was decent. I realize this place is in a small town so they probably struggle with keeping things fresh. Don't know if I would come back but honestly can't say it was too bad. It was a decent meal and I tried to only eat what looked semi fresh Music is playing. This place is old and in need of an update. There is no real ambience. It's very baron on the inside with the exception of the one buffet section that was open. The service was ok. A co-worker asked for water and got a Coke. He was better off because another co-worker got a cup of water later and it had stuff floating in it. The food was not that good either. Very bland. First trip there ever, we timed the visit on the opening hour to get the freshest food. That strategy worked well. Decent selection, typical fare for a buffet, and the chicken dishes actually had chicken, not soy based filler. Happy about that. The atmosphere was basic but clean and the service was more than adequate, pretty good for a two-person operation (= pretty busy for 2)...I gave it fours stars dues to the freshness, selection and overall flavor of the various dishes we tried. But most Importantly, be sure to get the Chinese donuts, they were made to order and exceeded my expectations, actually, just they were exceptional. Staff seemed angry at having to wait on us. We were the only customers in there which should have been a clue. Food was not that good or fresh. My friend ordered a Sprite and after one taste didn't finish it. It was a buffet style and I know with adjustments for the Covid things have had to change but it's not the customers fault!! read more

Drink are given without any flavor there's no people at this place at all, plus i'm pretty sure some of my food was cold

If you are eating at this restaurant I recommend you order from the menu. It has more options than the buffet, and ordering from the menu ensures you are getting fresh food. This restaurant has the basic Chinese food you would expect to see, it is rather limited but is worth stopping here. I order from the diet menu and am satisfied with my meal. The decor and interior of the restaurant could definitely be better, it consists only of posters tacked on the wall and a few decorative pieces. read more

The food was not great but at least nothing made us sick. The very simple and uninspired decor were expected for the small town buffet restaurant. However, the worst part about our experience was the completely lackluster customer service given to all of the customers. While we could tell that the employees spoke English, they just didn't bother to speak, respond to "please or thank you", or even seem to care whether customers were patronizing their establishment or not. We stopped in for a late lunch during our road trip from Albuquerque. I would suggest that you not stop here but keep driving. read more

They say it's the best Chinese food in town, and, well, that's technically correct. China Best fills an odd hole on my life. I wouldn't necessarily say that it's good, but I keep on going. The food is mediocre. I mean, it's exactly what you'd expect from $10 Chinese buffet. There's a variety of. Chinese food staples along with some odd American items, all of which are a little too greasy and have probably been sitting in the buffet a little too long. It's perfectly edible though, and for the small customer base China Best seems to have (I'm not sure how they stay in business) the variety is pretty good. They even have ice cream for desert. The restaurant itself is sparsely decorated and a little too dark and, oddly, always way too humid inside. I guess it's the effect of having steam tables running all day. The staff are not very interactive but nice enough, and keep things pretty clean. Overall, if you just want some cheap Americanized Chinese food, China Best is the only option for probably 45 minutes at least, and it's not that bad. It's also far from the best food in Socorro, though. read more

Food was not that great, poor service We had to get our own refills because the lady was too busy talking on the phone. Plus the lady who served us as a liar I asked for Pepsi and she said no problem and then they don't even serve Pepsi to try to pass a Coke off as a Pepsi. Don't try the hot and sour soup it is gross. And the food on the buffet is not the freshest they don't keep up with it too well. Ordering al cart is no better food is soso stay away from the fried rice it is nasty not sure how they do it but it's not like any fried rice I have ever tried. I trust belief the only reason they stay open because there is no other Chinese restaurant for over 40 miles. We always make call in orders and go pick it up. For what we pay we get a lot!!!! Always piping hot. The sweet and sour soup is the bomb. They give us so much each of our meals last two days. The both white and fried rice is great. It does come out a bit more then the buffet but it's worth it. We have had not one single issue. I was in the area and read all of the reviews, thought I would stop by and see for myself. I give this place 3 stars. It's not the best nor is it the worst either, but what do you expect being out in the middle of nowhere. The food was very good and most of it was very hot also. Major MSG hangover everytime we eat here! Couldnt figure it out until a group of friends had the same complaints... I drive to Albuquerque to eat chinese food now!! They also had a frequent diners card, buy 10 get 1 free... manager only signs 1 for each table no matter how many people eat there & when its finalky full, you onky get 1 meal!! We essentialky would be buying 40 meals to get 1 free, explained it to the semi English speaking older woman who must be the owner/manager, but she didnt comprehend the way they typically work. Who would have though that Socorro would have a good China Buffet lunch place that had fresh and perfectly seasoned lunch on a Monday afternoon. Everything was fresh had a distinctive taste. Always refreshing when everything doesn't taste the same. I did a half & half won tong & egg drop soup that was excellent So if you are down that way and looking for an inexpensive lunch with fresh food, give this place a try. Very clean restaurant. Not many cars in parking lot but don't let that sway your mind. The food was very fresh, tastey, and hot. They kept filling the trays of food which looked very appetizing. We went in around 3:00, definitely worth giving it a try, so glad we stopped. read more
