Horrible service. It took waiter three times to go by us before she could bring us to go boxes and it happened ONLY after we asked for another waiter. Chicken fired steak is terrible as well as dipped ice cream. One of the worst ice creams I had. The only nice thing about the food were mozzarella wedges - those were really good. Cheese was on top and hot and perfect. Atmosphere felt like a regular chain restaurant rather than a special place with a cool design and where you want to return to LOOK rather than to just eat. Nice small Town family bar and grill, In the old days, we would call it a tavern. With definitely a local feel. Both the husband and wife who own the place work there and really try to make a difference. All the staff I met were very helpful and kind. I love the fact that they got locally sourced.Chiles for their salsas and their chillie cheeseburgers. Although I had a tech burger , I made sure I got a side of the local chiles. They have an extensive variety of food chicken dishes, salad's and burgers. Restaurants and bars are also about expectations, what type of bar and restaurant are you going to? And everyone is under staffed, so I always appreciate the service staff who are working. The small town restaurants you have to remember serve local families, ranchers, couples on dates to workers on temporary assignment for cable or some other service and really are gathering places. They're not used to big city out of town tourists.So if you keep that in mind you'll have a great experience at any of the small towns you visit. If you are in Socorro and looking for food variety this is the top choice. Full service restaurant offers a wide variety on its American food menu. Service is fine. It tends to get busy during dinner hours so some patience is recommended. The Ruben and fries were fine, too much sauce on the sandwich and wasn't the thicker dressing that you'd expect. The fries have good flavor but are probably the most unhealthy fries I've had in a while! The side garden salad was fantastic (dressing comes on the side). The only challenge was that it was piled so high on the plate it was hard to prevent it falling on the table. Seriously, this is the go-to place in town. read more

Dining out for dinner in the winter months in Socorro has limited options as many of the restaurants close early. I spoke with the manager at one place and he said ever since Covid, the majority of diners came in during the daytime. So we were glad we found Yo Mama's Grill on the first night we were in town. They serve until 8pm most nights so we arrived around 6:30 and were quickly seated. They were doing a brisk business with almost every table taken. The staff were friendly, hostess seated us and our server soon arrived with menus and to take drink orders. I will warn you, the place can be rather loud when it is full of happy customers but that was ok with us. We all decided to forego an appetizer, even though they all sounded great, but ordered our entrees instead. It didn't take long and salads were soon on the table, which we quickly enjoyed and then they whisked our entrees out of the kitchen to our table, piping hot and carefully plated. We tried the Rib Eye steak, grilled perfectly, a large salad topped with chunks of their fried chicken, grilled salmon over rice and some steak brochettes with grilled veggies over rice. We also ordered a nice bottle of wine! When in Socorro I highly recommend Yo Mama's for a good meal! read more

A small mom-n-pop type restaurant that looked clean and well kept. I stopped for a late lunch - it was a good time as there were just a few other patrons. I ordered the Old School Club - it was plentiful, fresh, and just plain good! The fries were perfectly done too. And of course, I had to try their fried ice cream... it was such a final palate pleaser. The server was also very attentive and pleasant. Came into town and searched online where to eat. Thought we would try this spot. Lots of seating in this place. Friendly staff, pretty good recommendations. Margaritas were o.k., light poor on the Lemondrop Martini. The Harvest Burger is messy and delicious, fries are tasty. The reuben was alright. The turkey avocado club was fair. Chips and queso was tasty, the Chiles are local in all of their food, so if you like a little heat. Try some of the local goods. read more

You're Grill the One New Mexico Green Chile Cheeseburger Challenge part 3 of 4 The relative newcomer in my Green Chile Cheeseburger Challenge, as they've only been in business for less than ten years (2015), as opposed to the rest of the competition which have all been around for a minimum of fifty years. But Yo Mama ain't no slouch, as despite the lack of experience, they managed to pull out a #2 ranking in my arbitrary poll. Let's get to the goods: Green Chile Burger (aka Bosque Burger): The Bun: Tasty artisanal bun that's only about a step-down from homemade. 4/5 Green Chiles: Check! There's nothing to complain about here, and they're the only one out of the four that used certified NM Green Chiles, if that means anything to anyone. 5/5 Cheese: The NM standard for cheese is a slice--or three--of American cheese - and they got that right here. 5/5 Ancillary topping: It does come with the standard burger accouterments of lettuce, red onions, pickles, and tomatoes. For a Green Chile Cheeseburger I feel like it should be served plain, as the veggies distract from the harmony of Chiles and beef, but I'll give them bonus point for the extra freshness of these ingredients. 4/5 Burger: Perfectly cooked burger that was juicy and had a nice char. The seasonings in the beef really paired well with the chiles, as the burger as a whole was a harmonious meal. 5/5 Fries: Their fries weren't housemade, but they were delicious and had a tasty seasoning on them. 4/5 Conclusion: Overall, at 27 out of 30 points, the Bosque Burger holds its own against some weighty competition and is a worthy runner-up in my competition. NM 01-2024 Socooro's Yo Mama's Bar & Grill for lunch today. Tony and I had our normal drink order and Tony chose the Yo Mama's Chicken sandwich with cheese bacon tomato & lettuce with BBQ Sauce and homemade chips. I chose the crescent sandwich with ham & turkey tomato and lettuce & bacon with mayo with fries. They were both very good. The tea was terrific The waitress was very pleasant and kept checking on us. She forgot my straw and had to ask for extra napkins twice but other than that it was great. Chef was on point!! Highly recommend!!! read more

We came in off normal meal hours and had a great experience. Service was wonderful and our drinks were always filled. The food was delicious. I took the servers recommendation for the Yo Momma sandwich. Yummy! It was fast to the table. I splurged on key lime pie that was so good! The restaurant looked new and clean. While there aren't a TON of dining options in Socorro, I'd say Yo Mama's is most definitely among the top options. They were also open a little bit later than the other spots which was nice, because finding decent food in this town after 7-8pm can be a challenge. They had a fun cocktail list and a diverse beer menu. I had an awesome local New Mexico stout and then switched to a lemon drop cocktail. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich, and it was really good. A large chicken breast meant most of the other awesome toppings were concentrated in the center, but that's fine. Even just the chicken breast plain on the outer edges was tasty. The rest in my group got some sort of green chile burger and they all thought it was amazing. We were on a day trip and needed something to eat so we stopped at Yo Mama's Grill for a late lunch. We could not have found a better place! The service was great and the food was fantastic. I have very limited eyesight in dim night and the hostess noticed that I was having difficulty making my way to the women's restroom. She walked me to the door of the restroom and even opened it for me. I really appreciated her kindness. The server was great too. It was our first time in the restaurant, and it took us a while to order but she was so patient and naturally friendly. We enjoyed talking to her. My husband ordered the Yo Mama's chicken, and I had the stuffed potato skins. (I added green chili to them.) Both of our lunches were some of the best we've ever had. To top it all off, when it was time to pay, our server informed us that the young man who was seated directly across from us had paid for our meals. We didn't get a chance to thank him, but we will pay it forward. The whole experience at Yo Mama's made our day! read more

This restaurant served awful food. The house salad was not cold and was piled so high on the tiny square plate it couldn't be eaten without spilling all over the table. The thousand island dressing tasted like it was all mayo-- worst I've had. The cocktail sauce served with the shrimp was beyond awful. If they make dressings and sauces in house they need new recipes. Chicken fried steak was so bad it wasn't eaten. The mashed potatoes looked too awful to even try. We stopped here for dinner just because of the name of the establishment. Who doesn't want to say they ate at Yo Mama's?! The reviews also helped. I decided on the Reuben with their home made chips, my husband got their 10 oz Yo Mama Ribeye with mashed potatoes and a Caesar salad, and my son got the Yo Mama Cheeseburger. The sandwiches were great and I really loved the chips. My husband enjoyed his steak as it was spicy in every bite, covered in peppers and cheese! We had a taste of it. It's been awhile since I've been to yo mamas but it was my daughters birthday and she chose to eat here. I usually order a big burger but it was lunchtime so I got me a patty melt. This is one of my favorites on the menu but today the bread was solid and hard to chew. The sandwich itself was a little dry too? It's normally really good. My daughter had the kids chicken tender meal and although I thought it was really small, she was happy so that's fine with me. The fries are good here. Service was ok except I hate to have to ask the waitress to refill our drinks especially when they aren't busy. I also like when we offered dessert instead of being asked if we're ready for the ticket. In my opinion yo mamas is just ok. We eat here about 3 or 4 times a year. And I haven't tried a lot of things on the menu other than the burgers and steaks. I did see the people next to us order a huge salad which looked great! I might order that next time!
