If you're looking for really good Chinese food, this is in my opinion the best in Livingston county. My I order from here at least once a week and that in my opinion is saying a lot. When I go out of town, upon return, I have to have China Best within 48 hours of my return. New Peking in Garden City and China best in Howell, MI are my all time favorite. We were fairly happy with our experience here. The location of this place in the Kroger Strip Plaza on MI-59 a couple of miles north of downtown Howell made it easy to find. The facility is cozy and well kept. It was not clear whether dine-in was open, but my intention was to take ours away. I placed my order on-line and did not have to wait long to pick up my food after arrival. The staff was efficient and friendly. We tried the Beef with Snow Peas and the Kung Po Chicken. Both were good. I expected the chicken to have a bit more kick, but it was tasty, nonetheless. We also tried the Spring Rolls, which were nice and crispy, but perhaps not filled as much as we would have liked. Our final bill for the food with a small tip was $26. At $13 per person, it was a good deal. This is especially so considering that the portions were huge, and we had enough leftovers for two additional meals. This place was a classic 3.5 stars, but I was fairly positive about our meal there. We'll likely try this place again. read more

This place right here has the best food I have ever had the pleasure of consuming in my whopping 30 years of existence. Their orange chicken will have you scratching your head in wonder. Wondering if you ever truly had real authentic orange chicken till now. i will warn you though. Been going here since 2015. It used to be amazing, but recently it has gone down hill. Just got take out the other day and the egg rolls were best described as dry and damn near not edible. I always get general tsao chicken, and dang is the chicken dry and just bad. So sad this place's standards have gone down. China Best has ok food. It's not the best, not the worst. Just kinda in the middle. It will definitely satisfy a craving for Asian food though. Purchased a lunch of orange chicken and a lunch of sweet and sour chicken for a friend because it was close to Medilodge of Howell. Sweet and sour chicken was alright, except for the fact that an egg roll only comes with the higher priced dinner meal for 7$ and some change. Most places I go to that give lunch specials for $5.95 or so include an egg roll. My orange chicken tasted as if it was sitting in a Walmart hot case for too long and became dry, stringy and hard to chew. The two quarter slices of orange wasn't making me a believer. The fried rice? Eh. It was alright The sweet and sour chicken...the chicken was okay, equivalent to what you would find in a regular Chinese buffet. The sauce was alright... Couldn't really find anything wrong with that dish. But how can you screw up pre-battered chicken pieces and frying oil? Not to mention pre-made sauce. Needless to say, I'll stay faithful to my 2 places I know have better quality, include egg rolls, and actually have edible chicken WITH sauce. Avoid those two dishes, and you may have a better experience. If I could get a refund, I would. read more

Is it really the Best from China? One might ask that when they see the sign. I will tell you that it's not. I would like to give this place 2.5 stars. It didn't suck like 0 star Golden House. It wasn't as wonderful as Wong Express House or New China King. This place is ideal if you are in a pinch and don't want to drive further to get better. Since all the Chinese restaurants near me in Livonia are closed, I decided to try this place out because I'm working temporarily in Howell. Big mistake. One of the other reviewers mentioned this place is like "fast food" Chinese, and that is extremely accurate. Chicken overcooked in the fryer, pre-packaged sauces, nothing really "homemade" or authentic. My husband's General Tso's chicken was bland as well. Really disappointed because we were craving Chinese for a few months. Also, the sign hanging near the register says to "Tell others if you are satisfied, and if you are not, then Silence is Golden." What they gave me was some breaded chicken (I believe its the chicken they use for the sweet & sour) and then poured the spicy sauce over it and called it general tso chicken. I love this place. I visited for a second time today and left as full as last time with half my food to take away. The Chow Mei Fun is great, highly recommended. If you like Crab Rangoon (if you don't, I am not sure I can trust you), they make them fresh and pack them full. Great for takeout, small dining area for about 20-30 people max. Average Chinese strip mall food -- comparable with all the other Chinese food in Howell, they probably all get their ingredients from the same distributor. I ordered 3 dishes, a side of shrimp fried rice and egg rolls. It was a not particularly special experience overall; the shrimp tasted old or off, the egg roll was under cooked and the chicken was stringy (not unexpected, most Chinese food has this problem, no points off for that). I probably won't be back, but it wasn't because it was bad, it's only because it is basically the same as every other Chinese place. read more

We live near by and decided to give China Best a try. Unfortunately we were disappointed. The food was not very good (seemed like it was cooked in old oil). I returned the food as we could not eat it. I did not ask for a refund nor did they offer one. Ugh...be warned before you eat here.... They serve their food with plastic utensils. The plastic forks and spoons are REUSED!!! We saw them wipe off our utensils when we were done and give them to another customer!!! How gross is that??? I ordered my boyfriend and I a carry out last night of a veggie lo mein combo for myself and the General tso combo for him, both with chicken fried rice. .. lucky for me I don't eat meat because he woke up in the middle of the night with food poisoning. This is literally the worst Chinese food I have ever had. The online ordering system was awesome and I was excited to find a place so close to my house, but everything we ordered was awful. I couldn't get past the first few bites of sesame chicken and my husband's General Tso's was worse. The fried rice, thankfully, had no flavor at all so I was able to take down a few forkfulls of that. The worst part at this point is we just got back from CVS to get Pepto for my husband because the food actually made him physically ill. I feel very foolish for ignoring the bad reviews I read about this place. I have lived all over the country, folks, and this place is the worst.
