This should be your go-to chinese take out place! They are very nice and quick to cook! I have been going here for years and will never stop! Plus it is a family owned business so support them! Their crab rangoons are unmatched, the egg drop soup I craved just about all the time. I personally love the chicken chop suey! My dad raves about the sweet and sour chicken, mom loves the potstickers and shrimp fried rice , husband LOVES the General Sao's Chicken! I've very honest if you are looking for take out chinese this is the place to go! They do have indoor seating if that is your jam too but we also do to go because is a movie date night treat for us! These folks were fantastic! After placing two orders online, we were unable to start the car after today's first snowfall. Since we are probably less than a mile from the restaurant and since China City doesn't partner with a delivery service, the restaurant personnel delivered the dinners to us themselves. Not only was their service over and beyond wonderful, the food was super-delicious! The hot & sour soup tasted superb on a cold and snowy night. Their kindness made the menu's Double Delight even more delightful. China City will definitely be our go-to place for good eats during our next visit to Jackson! If you are male or attractive go ahead and order. Friday December 2 at 608p I called in my order. I was told 20 minutes. No problem. I drove over there waited until 628p and walked in. There were 7 people waiting. It is really tasty so I was okay to wait. As each order was bagged they would call out the last 4 numbers of your telephone number. So I prepared to wait. When the original 7 people received their food and an order that was MADE while I was waiting was completed I had to ask where my order was. It had been sitting there for 25 minutes. Never once did they ask if I had an order or called my last 4 numbers of my telephone number. YET they asked every man or attractive woman that came in if they had an order or were placing an order. The last tree times I've ordered Szechuan chicken from here I've gotten something different. The last time I got a kind of sweet sauce that I did not like. Was in Jackson today to see my dermatologist. On my way out of town my wife spotted China City and it looked exactly like the gritty sort of place we love to find. Atmosphere? Please. Ambience? Forget about it! Now if you want REAL Chinese food....this place is the spot. Observe the authentic Chinese boy working the counter. He moved here when he was 10. His English is not perfect...but way better than your Chinese. The two cooks? Total Chinese dudes. I suspect they speak very little English. Kitchen is in plain site. Very tidy and clean. Here is the key. As I say in all of my reviews of Chinese places...ask them in advance what they toss in. If you don't want something they mention...ask them to skip it. They will. I ordered my favorite dish which is Kung Pao Chicken. I told them the 4 ingredients I wanted, and PRESTO....I got what I wanted. Flat out terrific. Not perfect...but pretty darn close for the first time here. Prices were fair, portions were good, and I watched them make my lunch from scratch. RUN...do NOT walk to this place if you want real Chinese chow. Oh yeah...I am a white guy who has lived outside of Guangzhou for weeks at a time for the last ten years. Tasty Americanized Chinese! Let's get something right: It is NOT actual Chinese food. I know the menu has the little characters that we assume to be Chinese, but this is the "bigger is better" and "meat n' potatoes" version of our Eastern-cousin's best dishes. "General Tsao's", "Happy Family", "Mongolian Beef", etc. That said, China City is probably the most delicious Americanized Chinese you can get for the money thus delivering an excellent value of quantity, quality, and at a very reasonable price. Call in your order, dine-in, or order take out when you get there. No matter what you order or how much, your order is ready in 10 to 15 minutes. I haven't figured out if this is some Buddhist miracle, or a Jedi mind trick, but my food is always ready, always the right temperature, and always very tasty! I can only give it 3 stars, because you always have to ask for chopsticks, customer interaction is limited, and the beverage selection is wanting. Decent Chinese take out with some vegetarian options. The only disappointment was when we asked for some dishes to be modified with tofu instead of meat, they wanted to charge us for the most expensive meat charging General Tso's tofu as shrimp--$3 more expensive than the chicken!). We ended up changing out order. But the food we did get was good (served on paper plates...). Not the best service/presentation but we will eat here again. read more
