We had an excellent time at this place, which was honestly exactly what we needed after sitting through long work meetings that slowly drained our will to live. When the meetings finally ended, we were starving and in desperate need of real food. Surprisingly (and slightly concerning), this was one of the only restaurants around. The area itself is pretty quiet, mostly hotels and a few food spots, so when you find a good one, you commit. From the moment we walked in, the host greeted us warmly, which was already a great start. Since this is a teppanyaki spot, we were seated at a shared table they were working to fill, standard hibachi rules apply. While waiting, we ordered drinks because... obviously. I went with the lychee martini (pronounced Lie-chee, not Lee-chee, gotta respect the fruit LOL), and my colleague ordered the sweet plum. Both were delicious, refreshing, and dangerously easy to drink. Next came the must-haves: edamame and gyoza. No notes. Just solid, comforting appetizers that did their job while we waited for the main event. With our meals, we were served the consommé soup and the salad with ginger dressing, and let me just say, that ginger dressing deserves its own fan club. So good. Once the table filled up, the show began. Flames, flair, knife skills, and all the hibachi magic you hope for. The chef was super entertaining and clearly knew how to keep the energy up. The staff overall was attentive, friendly, and made the whole experience feel fun and welcoming. Bonus points for the fact that I spoke the language, which led to a mini conversation about why I was randomly in the middle of Michigan, always a fun topic. Overall, it was a great experience from start to finish. Good food, great service, and a much-needed post-meeting morale boost. If I ever find myself back in that part of Michigan, I'd absolutely come back, hopefully with fewer meetings next time. read more

Went here for my birthday celebration with my kids and aunt. Three days later my 83 yo aunt is still bragging about how it was the best meal she ever had. It was delicious. I had the tuna steak which is always my favorite. The rice was out of this world. Our chef was amazing and put on a great show and served absolutely flavorful and delicious food. Love the fires to heat up the room. We have always gone to the Ann Arbor location so this was our first time in Jackson. Both are awesome. Thank you for giving me such an amazing birthday meal. Mi sister and I recently visited Ichiban for the first time last week. The guy cooking the food was new and kept messing up with our food. He gave others at the table our food. He also was off on portion sizes. He had to go back to the kitchen. Someone should have been watching over him. I also felt VERY rushed. My absolute favorite!! I love the food, service, and vibe that this restaurant gives off. Though it may be a little pricey, the amount of food that they give you is always enough for leftovers. First off let me say this I am a very loyal customer there. From birthday party's to takeout on the weekly. The food is not a problem it's the customer service the manager lacks. But today I ordered takeout for my child and going from them home the whole bottem of the bag falls out, now here where the problem comes in, this is not the first time there bags has broken, so I call the store to complain, the host was very nice said they will replace it, and it will be 25 min. Well then not almost 10 mins later I received a call from them saying the manager said it was not there fault I had to repay for the food. Sushi is really good. Service too. Issue is for sushi, you will be sitting in a cold corridor next to the front door and in a space that was designed for a sushi bar and a traditional liquor bar. Management has taken over this area so that while eating your sushi you will witness the owner, manager and employees on break, drinking their soft drinks, watching the two TVs, and generally relaxing on break, along with all the break room chatter. The chefs that cook in font of you are super friendly and put on an amazing show. My friend and I ordered two sushi rolls (mine in the photos), the server forgot about the rolls and the chef had reminded them about it so they didn't get to the table until later. If you want to get the hibachi, you have to order it and if you don't you don't get anything except what you ordered, when they cooked in front of you. The jasmine tea has a very light taste of jasmine is is pretty disappointing. We moved to the area less than a year ago, and have been looking for great sushi. I think we finally found it!! We have tried the other popular sushi place in town, and it was mehhh. Not our favorite. So on a whim we decided to pop in tonight for dinner before running errands, we luckily got there right before the rush... and so glad we did. 10/10 would recommend if you are looking for good sushi! Excellent quality, tasted amazing, great service, and great prices! I can't wait to go back! Went here with the family. Drinks were good, food was decent, service was good. The biggest disappointment is the hibachi chefs. I'm not local, but I do enjoy this type of atmosphere when I visit. The chefs aren't very animated nor charismatic. I'm not sure what happened? It used to be more of a show. Now they roll out, verify orders, maybe flip the utensils, make the "volcano" and that's it. I come here and pay/tip to see a performance of sorts. The lack of engagement is disappointing. Food quality has also went downhill. I can still taste the ammonia taste in my mouth and it's been 20 minutes since I spit out the rotten salmon that Ichiban served. My sister's vegetables were rotten, as well.
