This has gradually become my favorite for Chinese food. Their General Tso sauce is a little bit different than all the others. I love their dumplings as well. This food was honestly disappointing. We ordered General Tso's chicken, orange chicken, sweet and sour chicken, and crab rangoons. The chicken was really dry across the board, and the breading was mushy instead of crispy. The sauces were pretty bland--I couldn't tell much of a difference between the orange chicken and the General Tso's. The crab rangoons were also underwhelming; they weren't crispy at all, just soft and chewy. Overall, not a great experience. A lot of Chinese restaurants have been cutting back on the size of their eggrolls, and this one was more like the ones we used to get in the past. Our combo orders were good and plentiful. Unfortunately it is just not very good anymore. It used to be the best in town and now it is subpar. It seems like they are cutting corners to keep it going, but the quality is suffering. We are so excited that we have finally found our favorite Chinese food made with quality. We purchased the Almond Boneless Chicken, Hot And Sour Soup, Egg rolls, and their homemade hot mustard. The soup had more vegetables and tofu then any other restaurant in a 30 mile radius of Jackson. The Hot mustard was perfectly hot made me cough after I lost my breath.That mustard rocks. This use to be one of my favorite places to get Chinese food in Jackson. I know it's not authentic bit it was tasty. The taste of the food has declined over the years. I tried the sweet and sour chicken as it's a favorite of my dad and the sauce tasted like bad cough medicine. This time i came in alone so I went for one of my favorites here, General Tso's Shrimp and it was the same aweful sauce! The shrimp was severely over breaded. There is still no in person dining. Which is not an issue. We tried general tso chicken and beef. The beef was uneatable. It was so tuff it could not be chewed or torn by teeth. The chicken was good but mostly dark meat. Mongolian beef was decent but no heat. Pineapple chicken was a sweet and sour dish with dark meat. The wonton cookies were awful, worst I've had. Surprisingly great. I'll tell you what I loved about China House in Jackson, and then what disappointed me about this establishment. Though it appears on a traditional run-of-the-mill Sino-American menu, the food here not merely rivals but outstrips any Chinese restaurant in the greater Jackson area. It scores high points in the areas of taste, robustness of flavor, skill of preparation, appropriate doneness, and portion size. I dined here with my wife on a Saturday evening. We began with the crab rangoon appetizer, and then I moved on to the orange beef over broccoli, accompanied by a healthy serving of rice - soft sirloin strips marinated and slathered in a tangy-sweet-spicy orange sauce, but given greater complexity (delightful flecks of bitterness) with spikes of fresh orange peel. That little touch boosted the entree from above average into the sublime and suggested that the chef here is pushing above and beyond the minimum effort required. My wife ordered the moo shu chicken with traditional scallion oil pancakes, and responded enthusiastically to her food. We did, however, feel a little underwhelmed by the presentation. We received our dinner on plastic plates, with plastic utensils, and our drinks in styrofoam cups, and ordered from disposable paper menus. And although China House sits in a beautiful external location - a corner space bedecked with carved wooden exteriors that transcends its strip mall trappings and invited us to dine there - the interior felt a little cut-rate - plastic chairs and booths (some of which were slightly dilapidated) and what appeared to be water damage on the ceiling. Would I return to dine here? In a heartbeat. Many of the culinary elements easily checked in as four-star, and I cannot wait to survey the menu more broadly, and try the Happy Family, and the Subgum, and the General Tso's Shrimp, for instance. But with a little greater time, care and investment in the property, the owners could have a five-star establishment on their hands. read more

5 stars for China House! When I worked at the Westwood Mall in Jackson, China House was always the go to spot. Their food is always great and does not disappoint. The portions are good for the price too, especially if you get the lunch combo. My personal favorite from China House was the "Human Chicken". By far the best Chinese in Jackson (but not much to choose from). The owner Jon knows most people by name which is quite impressive. When I eat in there is usually a high school student helping and the service is fine. I enjoy a small restaurant that has Dr.pepper. When I get take out I usually see Jon and he is great! The food is hot and tastes good. I usually have the Orange chicken which had a little bit of kick. I sometimes get the lo main, but I wouldn't recommend it. The noodles lack amy flavor. read more

Since the new owners have taken over the food has gone down the tubes. They need to follow chinese receipes rather than ":guess". I ordered Pepper Steak on chefs specials tonight, where were the peppers? Gobs of onions & rice. Came with an eggroll, where were the condiments? My husband ordered Beef & Scallops, could they spare the 8 bay scallops? This used to be the best Chinese restaurant in town. Has really gone down hill with new owners. Such a shame.
