Fried rice didn't have peas and carrots which was great, but did have huge pieces of onions, which was not great but were at least easy to pick out. I like that their default is pork fried rice. Ok this place is a great example of don't judge a book by its cover! We have lived in Jackson for about 4 years and have driven by this place many times - a little to frumpy looking to try. So tonight We decided to give it a go. - and we are glad we did. Good food - had our usual with one twist - tried the Egg Fu Young. Almond boneless chicken as spot on, good gravy. Chicken fried rice and Beef Lo Mein were plenty tasty, big portions. Looks like we won't have to travel to Chelsea for good Chinese anymore! read more

Something has changed in the past few months. Twice I have gotten different chicken dishes (sesame chicken and General Tso's) that have been over-fried chicken covered in sweet and sour sauce, and last night I had the worst lo mein ever. I didn't even know you could make BAD lo mein. It was severely mushy, overcooked noodles with barely any sauce, and MAYBE an ounce of tiny little chicken strips, no veggies added whatsoever. Been eating here for years, and generally feel like their quality has been lacking lately, as if the workers no longer have any enthusiasm in their cooking. They do not add much spicy heat if you're looking for that and their wontons are way too sweet with chinese five spice. I was surprised to find decent Chinese carry out in Jackson. I've tried numerous small Chinese carry out restaurants in the past, and this one deserves more than one visit. I've tried their sweet and sour pork lunch special, which was good. The breaded pork stayed crispy and the sauce was delicious. I also like their spring rolls. Looks like a run down hole in the wall joint, but their food is good. As a vegetarian I order a lot of tofu dishes. They do not hold back on their tofu as most places do. Each order is good for 2-3 servings. Great tasting food for very reasonable prices. What more could you ask for? read more

I showed up about a half hour before closing. The sign outside still said open and I had checked their hours before hand. I walk in and there's no one near the counter. From the counter you can see part of the kitchen but there's no one visible there either. Eventually one of the workers stepped into view. He looks at me, makes eye contact and continues walking. So I'm like ok, well two can play this game so the next time he comes back through I look at him again and make direct eye contact until he's out of view. Nothing. At this point I'm starting to get pretty pissed so the next time he walks through from the back of the kitchen and towards the counter I muster up the most intense, soul piercing eye contact I can and hold it with him every step of the way. He fuckin saunters all slowly while maintaining eye contact and not saying a word. Another employee walks in I break contact to look at him and get no response. Now they have both of their backs turned to me doing something in the kitchen. I become a bit more reasonable and figure I should at least speak up to make sure they know I didn't come into this restaurant because I like to practice giving intense eye contact with Asian people. I ask "Are you guys done cooking food?" as it looked like they had already started closing up even though it wasn't 10:00 yet. Not a goddamn word. No response. Nothing. I turned around, walked out and went to the other Chinese place in town where they had actual service and ok food. read more
