Sesame chicken was okay, although did not seem fresh. Fried rice no flavor and tasted like plain brown steamed rice. Made the mistake of trying the chicken pad Thai spicy-not only did it have zero spice but had exactly zero flavor as well. My boyfriend and I LOVE this place and order food from here almost every week, sometimes even multiple times a week. I wouldn't say it's the BEST place ever, like it isn't anything fancy, but it reminds me so much of the Chinese food I grow up on and the portions are absolutely MASSIVE. No exaggeration: You get 3-5 meals out of 1 entree. I genuinely think it's cheaper to eat here than cook yourself. HIGHLY recommend. We've tried the wor wonton soup, beef and broccoli (my favorite), orange chicken, sesame chicken, steamed rice, friend rice, and fried wontons and it's all good. The portion sizes are good, but the food was disappointing. Bland in flavor, and my shrimp wasn't cooked. It was gray like raw shrimp, not pink or red like cooked shrimp. I have eaten here in the past, and it was acceptable. Not today -- the service was extremely slow, the server mixed up our soup orders, and ignored our request for separate checks. The egg rolls were nice and hot, but the rest was tepid. I asked for a Diet Coke, and was told they had only cans of soda. No thanks; I asked for just a glass of water. Again, no -- they only had bottles of water to sell. I said I would like a cup of tea, then. Guess what -- no tea! What Chinese restaurant doesn't have tea????? The dining room is in poor condition, with peeling wallpaper and cleaning rather spotty. Never again. read more

I have hesitant to try this place because of the 3 stars but my friend said she really liked it and I trust her so I finally tried it and first I will say the portion size for this combination plate is huge! You definitely have enough to have it for dinner and left overs for lunch the next day. It was ready fairly quickly, the price for the amount of food is perfect and the staff was nice. Now I also ordered egg drop soup because it doesn't come with it and that was really delicious. The combo comes with rice your choose of entree, egg roll and a wing. Everything was good but the Kung Poa. Kung poa is supposed to be spicy but it lacked so much flavor and no spice at all which left me disappointed especially since I had so much of it. Lol... it had lots of chicken, veggies, and peanuts but just was not flavorful at all. Of course nothing some spices and sarachi couldn't fix. Needless to say I will try something else to see how the flavor is for other items so overall not bad just not the best. read more

I was leery to try this place after reading the other reviews. However I heard from a friend that their szechuan beef was really good ordered 5 times spicy. I ordered the fried chicken which was really crispy. I wasn't a huge fan of the spicy chicken wings, flavor was good but the breading was too much. I also ordered the Singapore spicy curry rice noodles which were the bomb, and the 5 times spicy szechuan beef delivered. Not only did I get my food in a timely manner I also got a free Chinese calendar! The customer service was great. Oh and if you are a fan of house mustard, try theirs, impressive heat. The prices were reasonable, actually much cheaper than alot of places in town. I'd order from them again. read more

They food tasted great, the serving sizes were good (enough to eat diner and then lunch the next day from my one dinner combo!)! The lo main was better than most places I've tried in Colorado Springs and the state of Colorado as well. My friend Ben and I ordered the meal together with the lo main being our go to for a shared dish since it's nearly impossible to mess it up so bad that I can't rate it ! My chicken and broccoli meal was excellent. The won ton soup was delicious as well. We had our food delivered and it came on time. The fee for delivery was average and the driver followed our instructions perfectly. Overall I give them a five star review and recommend them to my Chinese food loving friends! read more

I'm gunna give both positive and negative feedback to this place. I ordered sesame seed chicken, crab cheese wontons, hot and sour soup, steamed dumpling and white rice. I hate to say this but the sesame chicken was terrible. It was really bready, and the sauce was super thick and I could barely pull the chicken pieces apart. The chicken pieces were really big, and when I bit into them it was mostly breading. The steamed dumplings were also not good. The insides of the dumplings totally turned me off it looks like a meatball in a dumpling but no color. And the crab cheese won tons were okay, nothing special but pretty greasy. The spicy mustard is also packaged and not good. I will say the people that work there are very very nice. The soup was good, and the rice was good. And they had my food out pretty quickly. Very good but not too expensive Chinese food. Had the sesame chicken myself and my wife had the shrimp with garlic sauce. Both were fantastic with a minor caveat of the shrimp sauce being a bit spicier than my wife wanted. This was our first time and we were both pretty impressed by the food for the price. I had food from this restaurant and to me it was bland. I love Chinese food and had eaten Chinese food at many Chinese food restaurants. My dish (Kun Pao Chicken) didn't have any flavor, even after putting two packets of soy sauce. Even the color didn't look as the Kun Pao chicken that I have had at other places. We actually went inside for a meal just after lunch so we got dinner prices which seem pretty steep for the standard Americanized Chinese food. They should really let you order half. I had the Rice Noodle Soup which was loaded with snow peas, huge slices of carrots, mushrooms, chicken, beef and shrimp. The noodles were cooked nicely but the broth had no flavor at all. My wife had the Cashew Chicken which was pretty good and loaded with cashews which was a nice surprise. They also had pretty good jasmine tea. This place loses a star because a small child, probably 7 or 8, was putting out the napkins, forks and spoons which seems like a bad idea to me! read more

I have lived in the area for YEARS and I LOVE China Cottage! The staff are extremely polite and friendly, their food is just exceptional! We have eaten inside their restaurant and ordered through delivery and each time my family is always extremely satisfied! We love their food so much we won't dare try a different Chinese restaurant in town there really is no need China Cottage has never failed with their wide spread menu options, fast service, and you can tell they appreciate their customers! Honestly you cannot go wrong if your in the mood for some authentic Chinese dishes cooked by amazing chefs, and serviced by some great kind hearted people! Let me start this review by saying that China Cottage is very, very, very reliable. Which is why I come back. They are one of the few places that deliver to my house so on nights when the wife and I don't feel like leaving, China Cottage delivers (no pun intended). Here comes the honesty-if I'm keeping it 100% real this is not the best Chinese I've ever had, not really even close, but they do come through. I just came here from Hawaii so take my opinion for what it's worth but you can go ahead and skip over the Thai section of their menu. It's tastes nothing like the Thai food that I like. As far as their Chinese menu, it's not bad. It's not very good, but it's not bad. I don't intend for my review to come off negatively, I will probably continue to order from China Cottage in the future. We absolutely love the delivery from here. The food shows up in about 20 minutes. The to go boxes are overflowing. They usually have to staple them together. We love the sesame beef, chicken, shrimp. My experience from 11/20/14 (Delivery service) I made an account just to give a review! The lady that took my order was just so sweet! She joked with me and was extremely helpful. Delivery took 30 minutes, even though she said 45 minutes. The delivery girl was very friendly and courteous. I had plenty of sauces, napkins, and extra fortune cookies. Absolutely most delicious combination fried rice! Very pleased with such a hefty portion, more than one meal for sure! The combination fried rice is filled with such delicious meat; the chicken seemed slightly crispy, the pork used is amazing! I love that they use spouts in the vegetable mix. I should've known I was going to have bad service when I noticed the heavy make-up and long nails on the cashier. This wouldn't have been a problem if she didn't also handle food. It's also VERY disrespectful when they make an order for a person who got their after you just because he's a "regular" even though they ordered the same exact thing. Ordered to pick up and food was ready when I got there (between 10-15 mins). Service was courteous over the phone and in person. I like that they've got house made hot mustard..it's pretty intense! We did get part of our order wrong - asked for combination sweet & sour and only got pork but I don't think that error would stop us from ordering from here again.
