The menu is filled with pictures so you know what to expect. Although I am not too familiar with northern chinese cuisine, I could see that the food were traditional dishes, not westernized. The bbq lamb and squid that i ordered were ok. The lamb had that unique lamb taste, but the meat was tender. The squid was very flavorful, but a bit chewy. The clams were tasty. We asked for the spice to be toned down, which they obliged. The dumplings though, were disappointing. The dough was pretty thick, and it dominated the dumplings. Surprisingly the restaurant got very packed. But there were only 2 servers working the floor. It was hard to communicate because our server only spoke chinese to us, and I was struggling to understand what he said. Because they were so busy, it took a few times waving our hands in the air to get their attention. Once our order was taken, it took a bit before our dishes arrived. I felt they were rookies in the service industry, but the food was cheap and not too shabby overall. Another surprise was when I went to pay with the machine, they offer a 6% tip option. Haven't seen that before. I would go back to this restaurant, and I would recommend it to other people. Just make sure you bring your patience with you.

I requested vegetarian fried rice and the server who barely spoke English pointed out words on the menu to make sure I could eat egg because the chef asked if I was vegan. My boyfriend and I each ordered a soup entree, which was 3 times the size we expected, for half the price we expected. The BBQ buns for appetizers are to die for (and only $2 for 4 slices) and the scallion pancakes were top notch ($4). My (omnivorous) boyfriend ordered braised lamb in chili oil with cabbage ($12) and was blown away by it. I ordered rice noodles with stewed tomato and fried egg ($6) which will last me for the next three days with leftovers. Beers are under $3 each, too. Lots of other customers around us ordered seafood dishes, which looked great, so I would recommend trying that next time.

The third time the server said "talk talk talk don't order". We haven't even had a chance to go through the entire menu. The menu is extremely disorganized. I've never seen a menu organized with the type of meat and vegetables at the end. We ordered a soup, a beef pancake, some eggplant, and a beef. The soup was okay, not the best ingredients. The pancake was very weird. The beef had some carrot mixed into it. The eggplants were extremely oily and overcooked. The beef was dry and inconsistently marinated. The total was around $54 for those 4 dishes. Extremely overpriced for their quality of food.
