This is the ONLY place I ever order Chinese Food from. Seriously, I don't even live here anymore and I don't even bother with any other business. Not sure why this place has poor reviews. Before I moved I went here more than twice a month and that was when I was in high school through college. I recently came back here 5 years later and the food quality is still great. I love that they use white meat for the Sesame Chicken. I haven't ordered a dish I didn't like. The owner is quiet but to the point, know what you want and if you need pickup or delivery. I went so often and while we didn't have conversation we knew each other by face. After all these years you would think food would change, especially after the pandemic. This entire area is full of terrible Chinese food, but this place literally made me made when I ate it. It is by far the worst Chinese food I have ever eaten in my life. This was my 1st time dining here. I purchased the family meal (sesame & orange chicken) which was about $60. The chicken was hard as a rock and not edible. After driving all the way home, preparing plates for my family and then not having a meal that could be eaten...I called the restaurant and didn't ask for a refund, I just wanted them to remake the chicken at another time because I wasn't able to drive back up there. They said no unless I can bring the chicken back. I don't live close and shouldn't have to bring the chicken back in order to have them remake this chicken. Horrible customer service. This is why people go to Chick Fil A instead of local restaurants, customer service and good food is imperative when you want to charge premium prices. I will never dine here again, nor should you. I order from china Garden often. Some meals good and some not so good. Well today I ordered egg foo young and this is what it looked like. I called them and spoke to the owner. She said" so what do you want me to do? And I packed it myself and there was nothing burned." I stated, it was flipped over and I originally didn't see it either but it smelled scorched. This place was amazing before COVID. I have tried eating there about 8 times since reopening. I was hoping that the food would get back to the way it was, but they have continued to let me down. A woman came in yesterday while I was there with her service dog. They were rude and said take the dog to the car, it's not welcome here. I spoke up and said it's against the law to turn away a service dog. The lady wanted to eat in and was scared because of their extreme rudeness. they told her she would not dine in because of the dog. I told them yes she could and with the service dog. I sat down with the lady and had lunch with her. The waitress came to the table and said in a very rude tone "what do you want" I looked at her and told her a menu to start with. it went downhill from there. I will never eat there again. Remarkably high quality food for such a low price. We ate lunch on a Saturday and they gave us a lunch menu where nothing was over $6.50. The menu doesn't state this clearly but you actually get soup, fried rice, a spring roll AND a fried chicken wing with your lunch entree. Most restaurants don't offer lunch prices on the weekend and you have to pick one from these options rather than getting all of them. I had the Hunan Shrimp and my shrimp were cooked perfectly, not over cooked at all. My dad had Kung pao chicken and my mom had the special chicken. The special was delicious!!! Ok so we used to order here all the time and the last three experiences have been terrible. The chicken was old and pretty nasty, the fried rice was actually not good I was surprised. On December 3, I ordered a Mongolian beef with fried rice but got steamed rice loaded with soy sauce and tiny pieces of what I believe was chicken but wasn't sure so I threw it out. The food arrived extremely fast for a Chinese restaurant and the food was just above room temperature after eating the food we both got sick and she had shrimp fried rice and I am still suffering from the effects of [FOOD POSINING]. The scientific classification for this type of food contamination is salmonellosis better known as Salmonella symptoms include diarrhea, fever, chills, and abdominal pain and I had all the symptoms. China Garden last inspection (10/30/2020) they scored a 75 not good for a restaurant and when you read the county inspectors report it's no wonder why my wife and I and possibly many more may have gotten food posining from China Garden . The inspectors report [https://ga.healthinspections.us/stateofgeorgia/#facility] stated that food was left out allowing internal temperature to fall below safe consumption. I was going to call the restaurant but after reading some of the complaints about rudeness and it seems to be mostly directed at black and brown customers and their white customers are treated differently. The only reason that I patronize small businesses is a promotion pushed by American Express and the extra points or miles that I earned by patronizing small business owners. China Garden is now officially off my list of acceptable restaurants and I urge any with compromised immune systems to stay away from China Garden. read more

Update: I had to take away a star for the fact that tonight I wanted Chinese food and forty five minutes prior to their closing they stopped answering their phones. I would really love if China East started delivering. They would put this place out of business easily. To be completely honest when I called to place my order and heard it was a Caucasian lady I doubted my choice thinking how can this be any good? Maybe like Panda Express? I am so glad I chose them! The lady (presumably the same woman who took my order) arrived quickly, food neatly packed in a sturdy paper bag, and was so friendly. I ordered take out tonight. Went in and picked it up. When I got home was opening the bag and saw something crawling!!! I could not believe it but it was a ROACH!!! My husband took the bag outside and killed it, then I put the food back in the bag and drove it back to the restaurant. I took it back in and asked for a refund and informed them of the disgusting problem. The lady at first asked where the bug was? I told her she could view it's smashed body on the bag but to please give me a refund,she instructed another lady to give my money back. My experience ordering two times has been awful! The lady who takes orders over the phone(later found out she was the boss) was extremely rude and continued to cut me off. An hour had passed and I called to check on my order because I was ordering from work and we ordered ahead for that reason. I couldn't get one word out because she kept cutting me off. When the delivery guy came I told him that the lady on the phone was very rude and he proceeded to say "oh we get that all the time she's the boss, unfortunately we can't say anything to the boss" Not a problem. I really like this place and pretty good Chinese food for Douglasville in my opinion. I had the Kung Pao chicken, it wasn't spicy at all (it's suppose to be spicy) and fried rice (they used long grain rice instead of calrose or even jasmine) was decent but the egg rolls, not good at all. The Wonton soup was some of the best I've ever had though... The portions are huge - one meal is enough to feed two people, easily. The prices aren't bad considering the amount of food they give you. I used to like this place when I first moved in the area. The prices were good and the service is fast but the food is VERY inconsistent. The last 3 times (yes I gave it 3X to get it right) we have ordered it just has not been good. My husband and I love sweet and sour chicken and it's so burned that you can't bite through it. I ordered delivery and they told me I need to package it up and bring it back in order to get it replaced. I ordered through delivery, if I wanted take out I would have driven some place (and it would NOT have been china Garden). The person on the phone was not pleasant nor helpful and as a result. We wasted $45 on food that no one in my family could eat. The braised wings taste like straight garlic not even like chicken, the rice was dry (how do you make dry rice?!) and I told you the chicken was BURNT. I have ordered from China garden for over 16 years. The past several times we either didn't get the correct order, or were missing parts of our order. I called once to let them know we didn't receive part of our meal was told we couldn't get a refund but would receive 15% off our next order. That was never noted and was never given. Not that I even cared, as I stated I've ordered for the past 16 years. Tonight we ordered our food and when it was delivered the bag was soaked with the spilt soups. I believe they use a third party to deliver. The delivery driver said that it was the restaurants packing that spilt the food. I hesitantly took the food and tipped the driver, not really caring that some soup had spilt . As I ordered at 5:56 and didn't get the food till after 7 kids were hungry and I'm tired. My food was soaked with both my soups, noticing after egg drop soup was spilled all over the food I called to request a refund because the food was not edible. The owner was so incredibly ugly and told me she would not refund my money UNLESS I brought back the food. At this point I'm pissed I've spent over $50 and have one kid that hates eggs and won't touch her food. I now have to take a egg/wonton soaked with bottom missing bag and load that into my car to bring the food back. UNBELIEVABLE. Never again will I order anything. When in the store owner continued to be ugly never once apologized for the huge inconvenience to me and my family.
